On a Samsung Galaxy with call recording enabled, open or answer the call in the Samsung Phone app and tap Record on the in-call screen. The feature is not available on every Galaxy: access depends on the model, software, region and, in some markets, the operator.
Record a call manually

Place or answer a call in the Samsung Phone app.

Tap Record on the in-call screen. If the control is not shown, your phone or market may not support the feature.

When you are finished, use the on-screen stop control if available, or end the call. The recording is saved on the phone.

Samsung’s US guidance describes call recording in the Samsung Phone dialer on selected Galaxy phones running Android 15 with One UI 7.0 or higher. This is not a guarantee for every device on that software. Samsung US call-recording guidance.

Set up automatic call recording
If your phone offers automatic recording, use this path in the Phone app:

Tap More options (the three-dot menu).

Choose Settings > Record calls > Auto record calls.

Turn on automatic recording, then select an available category: all calls, calls with unsaved numbers, or calls with specific numbers.

The choices depend on the device and software version; Samsung notes that steps can vary. Samsung regional call-recording instructions.
Find and play saved recordings
In Samsung Phone, open More options > Settings > Record calls > Recorded calls. Select a recording to play it. Samsung India also documents access through the Voice Recorder app and My Files; those routes and sharing options can differ by model and software version. Choose manual or automatic recording

| Automatic | Set a category in Auto record calls; eligible calls are captured without tapping Record each time. | Calls that match a chosen category, such as all calls or calls with selected numbers. |
Both methods require the feature to be available on the phone. Automatic recording settings do not make the feature available where Samsung or local restrictions exclude it.

Why the Record option may be missing
An absent control or settings menu does not by itself mean the phone is defective. Samsung identifies country or regional rules, Galaxy model, software version and, in regional guidance, operator support as factors affecting availability.

Confirm that you are using the Samsung Phone app rather than another dialer.

Check your exact Galaxy model and its software version; a qualifying Android or One UI version alone does not establish that recording is supported.

Consider the phone’s sales region and mobile operator. Samsung’s Saudi Arabia guidance says call recording may not be available in some countries because of local regulations.

Check Samsung’s support page for your region and device. Samsung does not provide a single compatibility list covering every model, carrier and market in the cited guidance.

Check consent and local recording rules
Recording laws differ by jurisdiction. Check the rules where you and the other participant are located, and tell the other person before recording when applicable law requires it. Samsung’s support guidance is not a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction legal guide.

Audio recording versus Transcript assist
Saving call audio does not require using transcription or summaries. On supported configurations, Samsung says Transcript assist can create transcripts and summaries; those features have additional device and regional availability limits. Samsung lists a Samsung account sign-in and internet connection as requirements for transcription and summaries, and availability may also depend on language. They are optional extras, not prerequisites for recording audio.
Samsung India says recordings made with the default Samsung Phone app support two-way recording. That statement is regional guidance, not a universal guarantee for every Galaxy variant. The same page warns that third-party apps may not capture the other party’s voice, so check the result rather than assuming an app records both sides.
