To read Tata Consultancy Services’ (TCS) quarterly results, keep four signals separate: revenue shows services delivered, margins and profit show profitability, operating cash flow checks how earnings convert to cash, and total contract value (TCV) indicates contracts signed—not revenue already earned. In the latest reported quarter as of October 9, 2026, Q2 FY27, revenue was $7,642 million, operating margin was 24.0%, net margin was 19.0%, and quarterly TCV was $9.6 billion. TCS announced the results on October 8, 2026; the quarter ended September 30.

Start with the period and the comparison basis

TCS’s fiscal year runs from April 1 through March 31, so Q2 FY27 covers the three months ended September 30, 2026. The results are consolidated and reported according to both Ind AS and IFRS. When reading a release, first identify the quarter, then check whether each number is in US dollars or Indian rupees and whether its change is year over year or quarter over quarter. TCS also reports constant-currency growth, which adjusts the comparison for currency movements.

These distinctions matter because growth rates with different currencies or comparison periods do not describe the same thing. For example, Q2 FY27 revenue growth was +2.4% year over year in USD, while sequential growth was +0.5% quarter over quarter in constant currency. Do not treat those figures as interchangeable.

TCS’s investor relations page organizes earnings reports by quarter. Its financial statements page notes that the company adopted Ind AS effective April 1, 2016. For a valid comparison, use the same accounting framework and equivalent periods, and check historical margin footnotes for exclusions such as exceptional items.

What the latest revenue figures say

Revenue is the amount TCS reports for services delivered during the period. For Q2 FY27, TCS reported revenue of $7,642 million and ₹731,880 million. The release gives the following growth rates; each is tied to its own currency and comparison basis:

Measure Q2 FY27 result How to read it
Revenue $7,642 million; ₹731,880 million Revenue reported for the quarter ended September 30, 2026.
Year-over-year revenue growth +2.4% in USD Compares Q2 FY27 with the year-earlier quarter in reported US dollars.
Quarter-over-quarter revenue growth +0.2% in USD Compares Q2 FY27 with the immediately preceding quarter in reported US dollars.
Quarter-over-quarter revenue growth +0.5% in constant currency Sequential growth after adjusting for currency movements.

Constant currency helps separate underlying change in the comparison from the effect of exchange-rate movements. It is useful alongside reported-currency growth, not a replacement for labeling the currency and period. TCS’s FY26 FAQ summary lists revenue of $30,017 million and net income of $5,938 million; those full-year figures are context, not a substitute for comparing equivalent quarters.

How to interpret profit and margins

Operating income and operating margin focus on profitability from operations. Net income and net margin show what remains after items such as other income and taxes. For Q2 FY27, TCS’s IFRS statement reported operating income of $1,833 million and net income of $1,450 million. The company reported an operating margin of 24.0% and a net margin of 19.0%.

Read operating and net margins as answers to different questions, rather than as competing versions of the same measure. When comparing historical quarters, inspect the release’s footnotes: some comparative financial-table periods are marked as excluding exceptional items. A margin trend is only comparable when the treatment of such items is understood.

What TCV and deal announcements mean

TCV is the total contract value TCS reports for contracts signed during a quarter. Q2 FY27 TCV was $9.6 billion. This is a bookings and demand signal; it is not revenue recognized in that quarter. Revenue is recognized as services are delivered, and the reported materials do not establish a formula or schedule for converting this quarter’s TCV into future revenue.

During the quarter, TCS announced a five-year strategic partnership with Porsche AG and the acquisition of MHP, Porsche’s Germany-based management and IT consulting subsidiary. It also announced an agreement to transition Best Buy’s India Global Capability Center to TCS and transform it into an AI Capability Center. These announcements describe business activity and potential work, but do not establish immediate revenue or guarantee how much contract value will be realized in any particular period.

Use operating cash flow as an earnings cross-check

Net cash from operations was $1.48 billion in Q2 FY27, equal to 102.2% of net income. Comparing operating cash flow with net income offers a cash-conversion check alongside accounting profit. It adds context to the earnings picture, but it is a separate measure and should not be mistaken for revenue or margin.

Which businesses contributed to sequential growth?

TCS reported that Q2 FY27 constant-currency growth was led quarter over quarter by BFSI (+2.5%), Manufacturing (+3.1%), and Technology & Services (+3.1%). International revenue grew 1.2% quarter over quarter in constant currency. These are company-reported segment and geographic figures, not independent forecasts; retain the sequential and constant-currency qualifiers when citing them.

A practical way to compare TCS quarters

  1. Match the periods. Compare the same quarter year over year or compare adjacent quarters sequentially; do not mix the two bases.
  2. Label the currency and growth method. Separate USD and INR figures, and distinguish reported-currency changes from constant-currency growth.
  3. Read both margins and check footnotes. Track operating and net margins separately, and note any exceptional-item exclusions in historical comparisons.
  4. Check cash conversion. Compare net cash from operations with net income as an additional view of earnings quality.
  5. Separate bookings from delivery. Read TCV and deal announcements as demand signals, while keeping recognized revenue tied to services delivered in the period.
  6. Look for sources of growth. Review segment and geographic contributions, retaining the company’s stated comparison and currency basis.

For Q2 FY27, CEO and Managing Director K Krithivasan said, “We are pleased with the broad-based growth in all our international markets and most industry segments.” That is management commentary. Consider it alongside the reported segment figures rather than treating it as a financial measure.
