Read Indo-MIM’s annual report in a fixed order: first identify whether the figures are standalone or consolidated and whether they are reported in INR million or INR lakhs; then read the directors’ performance table, rebuild the income statement, test the balance sheet and cash flows, and only afterward calculate ratios. This prevents a common error—comparing numbers with different scopes or units and then treating the result as a business trend.

For FY2025, Indo-MIM Limited’s standalone results show gross revenue and profit both increasing, with profit after tax (PAT) growing faster than revenue. The report also contains a large exceptional item, so the headline profit needs to be separated from recurring operating performance. FY2024 provides the opposite warning: revenue rose while PAT fell. The workflow below shows how to see both effects clearly.

1. Fix the reporting scope and units before reading a number

Indo-MIM’s investor materials present FY2024-25 standalone and consolidated statements, as well as FY2023-24 special-purpose statements. Treat each set as a separate data series. A standalone statement covers Indo-MIM Limited itself; a consolidated statement combines the parent with its subsidiaries. Neither is automatically the “right” version: standalone is useful for the legal entity’s performance, while consolidated is the broader group view.

  1. Write the scope beside every figure. Use labels such as “FY2025 standalone” or “FY2025 consolidated” in a spreadsheet, note, or chart.
  2. Record the reporting date. The financial year discussed in the FY2025 report ended on 31 March 2025.
  3. Record the unit. FY2025 figures in the published standalone summary are in INR million, whereas FY2024 figures in the cited report are presented in INR lakhs.
  4. Normalize before calculating growth. Convert lakhs to the same unit as the later year, or keep both years in their original units but do not divide one by the other until the conversion is complete.

The FY2025 Directors’ Report identifies the document as the 29th Annual Report of INDO-MIM Limited, formerly INDO-MIM Private Limited, for the year ended 31 March 2025. That wording matters when checking that a downloaded statement belongs to the correct legal entity and year.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

2. Read the directors’ performance table first

The directors’ performance table is the quickest orientation point because it puts revenue, profit before tax (PBT), PAT, earnings per share (EPS), and margins in one place. Use it to form questions, not to end the analysis. A higher PAT, for example, could result from stronger operations, lower finance costs, a tax change, or a one-off credit.

FY2025 standalone headline figures

Measure FY2025 published figure What it tells you
Gross revenue INR 28,338.46 million Total sales measure used for the reported growth and margin percentages.
Revenue from operations INR 27,954.77 million Revenue generated by the main business before other income.
Other income INR 383.69 million Non-operating or ancillary income included in total income.
Profit before tax INR 5,449.50 million Profit remaining after expenses and exceptional items, before tax.
Profit after tax INR 4,035.16 million Profit remaining after the reported tax expense.
Basic EPS INR 8.37 Profit attributable to ordinary shareholders divided by weighted-average shares, subject to the report’s share-count and face-value disclosures.
PBT margin 19.23% PBT divided by gross revenue.
PAT margin 14.24% PAT divided by gross revenue.
Revenue growth versus FY2024 16.22% Year-over-year change calculated on the report’s comparable revenue basis.
PBT growth versus FY2024 29.05% Pre-tax profit grew faster than revenue.
PAT growth versus FY2024 39.97% After-tax profit grew faster than both revenue and PBT.

The gap between revenue growth and profit growth is the first analytical signal. It indicates operating leverage, a change in the cost mix, lower finance or tax burden, exceptional items, or a combination. The detailed statements determine which explanation is supported.

3. Rebuild the FY2025 standalone income statement

Do not rely only on the directors’ percentages. Reconstruct the path from sales to PAT so every change has a place in the bridge.

  1. Start with revenue from operations. FY2025 reports INR 27,954.77 million.
  2. Add other income. INR 383.69 million brings the broad revenue measure to gross revenue of INR 28,338.46 million.
  3. Subtract recurring operating costs. Trace materials consumed, changes in inventory, employee benefits, finance costs, depreciation, and other expenses as separate lines rather than combining them mentally.
  4. Identify exceptional items separately. They are not ordinary operating costs and can materially change the reported PBT.
  5. Apply tax to the post-exceptional result. The resulting figure is PAT.

FY2025 standalone profit bridge

Line FY2025 amount Reading instruction
Total expenses INR 21,737.40 million Check the note breakdown; a total alone does not show which cost moved.
Profit before exceptional items and tax INR 6,601.06 million Closest reported measure of profit before the unusual charge and tax.
Exceptional items INR 1,151.56 million Subtract this from the pre-exceptional figure to reach reported PBT.
Profit before tax INR 5,449.50 million Post-exceptional, pre-tax result.
Tax expense INR 1,414.34 million Compare the effective tax burden with prior years only after checking tax notes.
Profit after tax INR 4,035.16 million Use for PAT margin, ROE, and EPS analysis, subject to attribution disclosures.

The exceptional item reduces FY2025 PBT by INR 1,151.56 million, so a reader comparing only reported PBT margins could understate the recurring pre-exceptional earning capacity. The correct presentation is to show both reported PBT and the pre-exceptional figure, label them, and avoid treating the latter as a formal alternative profit measure unless the company defines it that way.

4. Keep standalone and consolidated results in separate series

Consolidation changes both the numerator and the denominator of a ratio. Subsidiary revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities, and any non-controlling interests can alter the group picture. Never place a standalone PAT beside consolidated revenue in one margin calculation.

FY2025 consolidated measure Published amount Scope warning
Total income INR 33,739.72 million Includes subsidiaries; it is not the standalone gross-revenue figure.
Profit before tax INR 5,810.03 million Use only with consolidated income and consolidated balance-sheet data.
Profit after tax INR 4,237.34 million Check the statement’s attribution before using it for EPS or ROE.

Choose the scope that matches your question. For the economics of Indo-MIM Limited as a legal entity, use standalone statements. For the performance of the corporate group, use consolidated statements. If you publish both, place the scope in every column heading and calculate two independent ratio sets.

5. Understand why FY2024 revenue growth did not produce profit growth

FY2024 is a useful diagnostic case because sales increased while PAT declined. The report gives the following standalone figures in INR lakhs:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
FY2024 standalone measure Published figure Interpretation
Gross revenue INR 243,932.23 lakhs Use this unit when reading the FY2024 report; convert before comparing with FY2025’s INR million figures.
Profit before tax INR 51,047.21 lakhs Pre-tax result for the year.
Profit after tax INR 35,736.62 lakhs After-tax result, down despite higher revenue.
PBT-to-sales margin 20.93% Compare with FY2025 only after confirming the same revenue denominator and scope.
PAT-to-sales margin 14.65% A lower or higher margin can explain PAT movement even when sales rise.
Revenue growth 4.39% year over year Top-line growth was modest relative to the change in profit.
PAT growth Decline of 14.05% year over year Shows that revenue alone is not an earnings-quality test.

When this pattern appears, walk down the statement in order. Test whether materials or employee costs grew faster than sales, whether inventory movements changed gross profit, whether finance costs increased, whether depreciation rose after investment, and whether tax or exceptional items changed the final result. Do not attribute the decline to one cause until the relevant line and note support it.

6. Calculate the key ratios with defined inputs

A ratio is meaningful only when its numerator, denominator, scope, date, and accounting definition are explicit. The following definitions provide a consistent starting framework.

Ratio Formula How to use it
PBT margin PBT ÷ gross revenue Measures pre-tax profitability before the tax burden. State whether exceptional items are included.
PAT margin PAT ÷ gross revenue Shows the portion of gross revenue retained after tax.
EPS Profit attributable to ordinary shareholders ÷ weighted-average ordinary shares Check share splits, face-value changes, and the report’s comparable-share calculation before comparing years.
Current ratio Current assets ÷ current liabilities Tests short-term coverage; use balances from the same scope and reporting date.
Quick ratio (Cash + eligible short-term investments + receivables) ÷ current liabilities Define which investments and receivables qualify; inventory is normally excluded.
Debt-to-equity Interest-bearing debt ÷ shareholders’ equity Say whether short-term borrowings and lease liabilities are included.
ROE PAT ÷ average shareholders’ equity Use average beginning and ending equity when available, rather than only the closing balance.
Asset turnover Revenue ÷ average total assets Compare businesses with similar asset intensity and use the same revenue definition.
Interest coverage (EBIT or PBT + finance cost) ÷ finance cost Identify whether EBIT or PBT is used; the choice changes the result.

For FY2025 standalone, the published PBT margin is 19.23% and PAT margin is 14.24%. Those values are useful anchors, but they should be accompanied by the exceptional-item adjustment and by a note that the denominator is gross revenue.

7. Read the balance sheet before trusting liquidity and leverage ratios

Open the balance sheet and mark the components that feed each ratio. Review cash and cash equivalents, trade receivables, inventories, property and equipment, other assets, borrowings, lease liabilities, trade payables, provisions, and shareholders’ equity.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Liquidity checks

  • Use current assets and current liabilities from the same statement date.
  • Inspect receivable ageing and inventory composition before assuming that all current assets are quickly convertible to cash.
  • For the quick ratio, state whether only cash and trade receivables are included or whether other short-term investments qualify.
  • Compare the ratio with prior years and with similarly structured precision-engineering or manufacturing companies, not with unrelated sectors.

Leverage checks

  • Separate interest-bearing borrowings from non-interest-bearing payables.
  • Decide whether lease liabilities belong in debt for your analysis and apply that decision consistently across every year and peer.
  • Use net debt only when cash and debt definitions are clearly stated; do not subtract restricted cash without checking its availability.
  • For net-debt-to-EBITDA, verify that EBITDA is defined consistently and that the debt and cash figures have the same scope.

A single year-end ratio can be distorted by seasonal working capital. Add average balances or interim information when available, and explain any large movement rather than labelling it automatically as improvement or deterioration.

8. Reconcile profit with cash flow

PAT is an accounting result; cash flow shows whether the business converted that result into cash. Read the cash-flow statement in three sections.

  1. Operating activities: begin with profit, then follow adjustments for depreciation, finance costs, tax, working-capital changes, and other non-cash items. A PAT increase without a similar improvement in operating cash flow requires an explanation.
  2. Investing activities: identify purchases or sales of property, equipment, investments, and subsidiaries. Capital expenditure can consume cash even when earnings are strong.
  3. Financing activities: review borrowings, repayments, lease payments, dividends, and equity transactions. This section explains whether investment was funded internally or through financing.

Investigate a PAT-to-cash mismatch by checking whether receivables or inventory grew, whether payables fell, whether tax was paid in a different period, or whether profit includes non-cash or exceptional items. Do not call the earnings low quality solely because the two figures differ in one year; identify the reconciling lines and assess whether the difference is temporary or persistent.

9. Compare trends and relevant peers correctly

Use at least several years of Indo-MIM data where the accounting scope and definitions are comparable. Wiley’s financial-ratio methodology recommends both time-series and industry comparisons. Apply that principle without treating an isolated ratio as a verdict.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Time-series comparison

  • Keep the same scope—standalone with standalone or consolidated with consolidated.
  • Normalize units before calculating growth.
  • Flag changes in share count, face value, accounting policy, exceptional items, and business structure.
  • Track revenue, PBT, PAT, margins, cash from operations, working capital, debt, and equity together.

Peer comparison

  • Choose companies with comparable precision-engineering, manufacturing, product mix, capital intensity, and geographic exposure.
  • Use the same ratio definitions for every company, especially debt, EBITDA, quick assets, and revenue.
  • Compare ranges and trends rather than declaring a winner from one ratio.
  • Explain differences caused by scale, subsidiary structure, leases, tax rates, or exceptional items before drawing an operating conclusion.

A peer table should show the period, currency units, scope, formula definitions, and source statement for every column. Otherwise, apparent differences may be presentation differences rather than economic differences.

10. A repeatable annual-report checklist

  1. Confirm the company name, financial year, reporting date, and statement type.
  2. Write “standalone” or “consolidated” beside every extracted value.
  3. Write the unit—INR million or INR lakhs—beside every value.
  4. Capture revenue from operations, other income, gross revenue or total income, PBT, PAT, EPS, and reported margins.
  5. Rebuild the expense bridge and isolate exceptional items.
  6. Read the balance-sheet notes for cash, receivables, inventory, debt, leases, payables, provisions, and equity.
  7. Calculate liquidity, leverage, profitability, efficiency, and coverage ratios with stated formulas.
  8. Read operating, investing, and financing cash flows and reconcile PAT to operating cash.
  9. Build a multi-year trend using one scope and one unit.
  10. Compare only with genuinely relevant manufacturing peers and document every definition change.

Common mistakes and how to correct them

Mistake Why it fails Correction
Mixing FY2025 INR million with FY2024 INR lakhs The apparent growth rate is meaningless. Convert both years to one unit before calculating.
Combining standalone revenue with consolidated PAT The numerator and denominator describe different businesses. Keep two separate series and label every table.
Ignoring exceptional items One-off charges or credits distort recurring margins. Show reported and pre-exceptional figures separately.
Using closing equity for every ROE calculation It can exaggerate or suppress the return when equity changed during the year. Use average opening and closing equity when available.
Treating EPS as directly comparable after a share change Face-value or share-count changes alter the per-share denominator. Use the report’s comparable-share calculation and read the capital note.
Calling higher PAT proof of stronger cash generation Accrual profit and cash conversion can diverge. Reconcile PAT with operating cash flow and working-capital movements.
Judging a company from one ratio Ratios omit context such as business mix, accounting scope, and timing. Use time-series and relevant peer comparisons with defined inputs.
