You can call your parents without owning a phone if you can use an internet-connected computer or another compatible device and a service that can reach them. First check whether the service can call their app account or ordinary phone number; those are not always the same. A library may provide a computer, Wi-Fi, or a loaned hotspot, but its equipment and rules vary by location.
Can I call my parents from a computer?
Yes. Google Voice documents internet calls from a computer or mobile device. You need internet access, and the service must be able to reach the way your parents receive calls. Check Google Voice’s calling options and requirements before relying on it.
If your parents use a compatible app, an app-to-app call may work when both of you can access that service. If you want to dial an ordinary mobile or landline number, confirm that the particular service supports calls to that number; an app’s ability to make internet calls does not automatically mean it can call every phone number.
Google Voice Help estimates that its calls use about 0.2 MB of data per minute. Google notes that data use depends on network quality and speed, so treat that as a Google Voice estimate rather than a figure for other services. Wi-Fi avoids using a mobile data allowance on the device, but the Wi-Fi connection and service may still have their own limits or costs.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Can I use a library computer or Wi-Fi to call?
Possibly. Libraries can be practical places to get online, but what they provide—and whether patrons may place calls—depends on local policy. For example, Burlington Public Library lists free open Wi-Fi and internet computers, while Centuria Public Library lists public Wi-Fi, public computers, and technology help. These examples do not establish what a library near you offers.
The Seattle Public Library’s SPL HotSpot program lends hotspots to cardholders for 21 days and says connected devices can use Skype, FaceTime, and WhatsApp to call. That loan period and those services describe that library’s program, not a general rule for libraries. A hotspot provides internet access; it does not itself provide a phone number or guarantee that an app can reach an ordinary phone number.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Before making the trip, ask the library whether it has public computers or Wi-Fi, whether you need a library card or an appointment, what its hours and device rules are, and whether calls are permitted in the space. If you need to borrow a hotspot or other equipment, ask about eligibility, loan periods, availability, and return rules. Do not assume a library lends devices, offers a public phone, or lets patrons use a staff phone.
Can I call an ordinary phone number using an app?
It depends on the service and the call type. Some internet calling is between accounts in the same app; reaching a regular mobile or landline number is a separate capability. Confirm that the service you choose can call your parents’ number, and check for any account, payment, or other requirements. If they can receive calls only on a standard phone line, an app-to-app call will not be enough.

Does Wi-Fi calling work without a phone?
No. Carrier Wi-Fi Calling uses a supported phone and carrier service to route ordinary phone calls over Wi-Fi. It can help when a compatible phone has Wi-Fi but weak or unavailable cellular coverage; it does not replace having a phone. Google notes that not all carriers support the feature and charges may apply.
Requirements vary by carrier and device. Apple says an emergency-services address may need to be entered and that emergency calls may use Wi-Fi when cellular service is unavailable. T-Mobile lists internet access, an active account, and an E911 address among its requirements; those requirements are specific to T-Mobile. Check the relevant carrier’s current instructions for your device before depending on Wi-Fi Calling.

What to do before you try calling
- Find an internet-connected device. Use a computer or compatible mobile device you can access, such as one at a library if local rules permit.
- Choose a service that matches how your parents receive calls. Confirm whether you need to reach an app account or dial their ordinary phone number.
- Check access and account needs. Make sure you can use the service and that the device has a working internet connection; ask about any charges or data limits.
- Test the setup when possible. Confirm you can place a call and that your parents can answer before relying on that device or location for an important conversation.
