Back in the Fold is Act 1, Chapter 4 of Gears of War: E-Day. Escort Mayor Shaw toward City Hall, collect four items along the route, and defeat the Brumak at the entrance to finish the chapter and Act 1.
Back in the Fold route at a glance
The chapter begins at a refuge and proceeds through a street battle, a market, Landa Medical, a parking-lot fight, Echo Park, and the City Hall approach. City Hall’s entrance triggers the Brumak encounter. The directions below follow that route and call out each collectible before the point where you could leave it behind.
How to complete the mission

Search the opening area and clear the street
Pick up ammunition and supplies before leaving the starting refuge. In the opening street, look in the right-side doorway or alcove near the overturned burning car for the Frontpage of the Tyran Chronicle. Open the fence gate, use cover during the fight, and clear the enemies before heading down toward the market.

Fight through the market and take the side path
Clear the market, including enemies positioned above you, then exit through the gate. Turn onto the footpath on the right and inspect the wall for the Anti-UIR Propaganda Poster.

Check Landa Medical before leaving
Clear the exterior and follow Shin through the clinic. After the conversation and corridor, search the reception area by the computer for the Landa Memorial Medical Supplies Memo. Pick it up before you exit.

Close the Emergence Holes
In the parking-lot encounter, throw grenades into the glowing Emergence Holes to close them and stop more Locust from emerging. Defeat the remaining enemies, then look for the COG Tags of Private Brick Rosso by the fallen Gear on the approach to Echo Park. Guides agree on this general location, though they describe the nearby landmark differently.

Fight through Echo Park and approach City Hall
Climb the stairs and help the Gears fighting below. Continue down by the broken ramp and bus, then clear the road and the next wave near City Hall. Keep grenades available for any new Emergence Holes. One walkthrough recommends the Gut Puncher grenade launcher for this stretch and the boss fight.

Trigger the Brumak fight
Interact with City Hall’s entrance to start the final encounter. Defeat the Brumak to trigger the concluding cutscene and complete the chapter.

How to beat the Brumak
Keep moving and use cover when it is available; do not stay in one spot while the Brumak attacks. Create distance when it closes in, and dodge its close-range chain attack. Attack during openings, then reposition rather than lingering to fire.
Emergence Holes and crawlers join the encounter partway through. Throw grenades into the holes to limit reinforcements, while maintaining enough distance from the Brumak to avoid being overwhelmed. Replenish ammunition as you move around the arena. These tactics are reported by walkthrough guides rather than based on a first-hand playthrough.
