If you entered your Rockstar password on a page promising a GTA 6 leak, treat that password as exposed: go to Rockstar’s account site directly, change it to a unique password, and change it anywhere else you reused it. Then turn on Rockstar 2-Step Verification, secure the email account and other accounts linked to Rockstar, and check for changes you did not make. A click alone does not prove your device is infected; downloaded or opened files call for separate device-security steps.
What to do first if you entered your password
- Stop using the leak page. Close it, do not enter more information or download anything else, and do not use its links to reach account recovery. CISA advises going directly to an account to check for problems rather than following a suspicious message link: CISA phishing and malware guidance.
- Open Rockstar’s account site independently and change your password. Choose a new password that you do not use on another service. Rockstar advises against reusing your Rockstar password, and CISA recommends promptly changing a password that may have been disclosed: Rockstar account-security best practices.
- Change the exposed password on every other account where you used it. Attackers may try disclosed credentials on legitimate services, so changing only the Rockstar password may leave other accounts at risk. CISA explains this credential-reuse risk in its phishing guidance and phishing recognition and reporting guidance.
- Enable Rockstar 2-Step Verification. Start from Rockstar account settings reached independently and follow its authenticator-app setup. Rockstar’s process uses a time-limited code in addition to your password: What is 2-Step Verification?
Rockstar describes 2-Step Verification as an added layer of protection and its best way to secure an account, but it does not make password changes or reviewing linked accounts unnecessary. The guidance cited here specifies an authenticator app; it does not establish support for a physical security key.
Secure your email and linked accounts
Your Rockstar account depends in part on the security of its associated email account, and other linked accounts can also have privileges involving in-game changes. Change any reused password on those accounts, enable the MFA they offer, and review your email recovery details so an attacker cannot use them to regain access. Rockstar specifically recommends 2-Step Verification with linked-account providers: Linked Accounts and 2-Step Verification.
Check for account changes you do not recognize
Once you can access the account, look for an email-address change, a login from an unfamiliar device, or an unknown third-party connection. Rockstar identifies these as signs of suspicious activity. If you find one, report it to Rockstar Support rather than relying on links from the leak message. Rockstar’s account-security guidance also advises keeping account details protected.

If you are locked out or the account email changed
Rockstar says that when the email address on an account is changed, the prior address receives an account-specific recovery link that can roll back the change. If you can still access that mailbox, look for Rockstar’s recovery message and follow its instructions. If the mailbox itself is lost or compromised, contact the email provider to recover and secure it. Rockstar Support may be able to revert the account to a previously linked email when the request is made from that address. See Rockstar’s email-change recovery guidance.
If you downloaded or opened a file
A suspicious link can expose credentials or lead to malware, but clicking a page by itself does not establish that your device is infected. If you downloaded or opened a file, update your operating system, browser, and apps; make sure your anti-malware software is current; and run a scan. Rockstar recommends keeping software updated and anti-malware protection current in its account-security best practices. Close the page and avoid interacting with it further. A click alone is not proof that your account was accessed or your device infected. If you are concerned, sign in to Rockstar by typing its address yourself, check for unfamiliar account changes, and use the device-security steps above only if you downloaded or opened a file.
