The Galaxy Z Flip7’s inner folding display already has a factory-applied protective film. Leave that film in place: Samsung designed it to withstand repeated folding and unfolding while helping protect against scratches and debris. Do not peel it off yourself or apply a generic inner-screen protector.
If the film bubbles, lifts, or becomes damaged, use Samsung-authorized service for replacement. A case made specifically for the Galaxy Z Flip7 can add protection to the phone, but it does not replace the inner film. When choosing a case, also check that its design works with the film on the Cover screen.
What protection the Galaxy Z Flip7 already has
The inner folding display has a factory film
Samsung ships the Z Flip7 with a protective film applied to the main folding screen. It is not ordinary packaging that should be removed during setup. Samsung says the film is designed for foldable displays and to withstand folding and unfolding while protecting the panel from scratches and debris.
That pre-installed layer is part of the phone’s intended display setup. Treat it as a serviceable component of the inner screen rather than as an optional accessory. The safest default is to keep it installed for the life of the phone unless an authorized technician replaces it.

Why the inner film is different from a normal phone protector
A foldable screen changes shape every time the phone opens and closes. Samsung’s film is selected for that use. A rigid glass protector or an unapproved film may not flex correctly, may interfere with touch operation, or may damage the display. Samsung’s UK guidance warns that removing the main film or attaching a non-official film may cause touch abnormalities or screen damage.
How to protect your Z Flip7 step by step
- Leave the inner film installed. Do not lift a corner to test it, trim it, or replace it with a film bought for another phone. Small edges or bubbles are not a reason to attempt a home replacement.
- Choose a case listed for the exact Galaxy Z Flip7 model. Foldable cases are shaped around the Z Flip7’s dimensions and hinge movement. A case for an earlier Z Flip model may not align correctly, even if it looks similar.
- Check Cover screen-film compatibility before buying. Samsung notes that the thickness and type of film on the external Cover screen can affect how a case fits. Genuine Samsung film is recommended for the best fit and compatibility.
- Prepare the case before installation. Samsung’s case instructions say to wipe the case with a microfiber cloth before attaching it. Remove dust and lint from the case surfaces so they do not sit between the case and phone.
- Follow the case leaflet’s installation order. Cases for foldables can use separate pieces for the two phone halves. Align each piece as instructed rather than forcing the halves together or pressing on the inner display.
- Remove the case without sharp tools. Samsung cautions against using sharp objects when taking the case off. Work slowly according to the case instructions to avoid scratching the frame or stressing the display area.
- Inspect the inner film periodically. Look for lifting edges, bubbles that are spreading, or visible damage. If you see a problem, stop trying to smooth or peel the film and arrange authorized service.
What to do when the inner screen protector is damaged
Bubbles, lifting, or a torn section
A bubble or lifted edge can allow dust to reach the film’s adhesive area and may get worse as the phone folds. Do not press the defect flat with a card, puncture it, cut away the loose section, or pull the film off. Those actions can turn a replaceable film issue into a touch or display problem.
Contact Samsung-authorized service and describe the condition of the inner film. Authorized specialists use the equipment intended for this repair. Ask about the service location, appointment requirements, turnaround time, and the exact charge before handing over the phone.

Film replacement is not a do-it-yourself repair
Samsung advises owners not to remove the inner film themselves. It also advises against applying a non-official replacement. The warning applies even if a third-party product is advertised as “foldable,” “flexible,” or made for a Z Flip phone; those descriptions do not make it an approved replacement for the Z Flip7’s inner display film.

If a technician determines that the film must be replaced, use Samsung-authorized service rather than a general screen-protector kiosk. Keep the phone folded or open only as instructed by the service provider while arranging the repair, and do not attempt another film application in the meantime.
Samsung U.S. replacement terms and why region matters
Samsung’s U.S. care information describes a market-specific service offer: eligible purchasers may receive one no-charge inner-protector application within 12 months. The same U.S. page lists later applications at $19.99. These terms are not a worldwide price list. Eligibility, timing, participating locations, and charges can change, and an individual device may not qualify.

Choosing a case without creating a new fit problem
Match the model exactly
Search for a case explicitly identified for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7, not merely for “a Samsung Flip.” Model-specific fit matters around the hinge, the two phone halves, the cameras, the side buttons, and the Cover screen. A case that fits another generation can obstruct an opening, press against an edge, or leave areas exposed.

Check what the case actually covers
A case is an additional layer for the phone’s exterior. It can help shield the frame and outer surfaces from everyday contact, but Samsung does not present a case as a guarantee against every drop, impact, or screen failure. Read the case’s coverage description and instructions instead of assuming that a thicker shell protects the inner panel from all risks.
Confirm Cover screen-film clearance
The external Cover screen is a separate surface from the inner folding display. Samsung says film thickness and type on that screen can affect case fit and recommends genuine Samsung film for best compatibility. If a case edge lifts the Cover screen film, leaves a gap, or prevents the case from seating, stop and check the film and case combination rather than forcing the case into place.
Install and remove it carefully
Before installation, wipe the case with a microfiber cloth as Samsung’s instructions specify. Follow the supplied leaflet for the order in which the pieces attach. When removing the case, do not pry with a knife, pin, metal pick, or other sharp tool. A slow removal protects the phone’s finish and avoids transferring force to the display edges.

The inner film has a small bubble
Do not rub it toward the edge or lift the film to release air. Photograph the condition if useful for a service conversation, then contact Samsung-authorized support. Mention whether the bubble changes when the phone is opened or closed and whether touch input remains normal.
An edge is lifting near the fold
Stop pressing the edge down and avoid repeatedly folding the phone to test it. A service specialist should assess whether the film needs replacement and whether the display itself is affected.

The case will not sit flat
Remove it carefully without a sharp tool. Check that the case is marked for the Z Flip7 and that the Cover screen film is not thicker or shaped differently from the case’s compatibility requirements. Reinstall only after following the case leaflet; if it still does not fit, ask the case maker or Samsung support rather than forcing it.
Dust appears under the inner film
Do not lift the film to clean underneath it. The inner layer is not intended to be removed for routine cleaning. Authorized service can determine whether a film replacement is needed.
A practical protection routine
- At setup: Leave the factory film untouched and check that the inner screen responds normally.
- Before buying a case: Confirm the exact Z Flip7 model and review compatibility with the Cover screen film.
