To prepare for an ARC Raiders Expedition, finish the Caravan when it is available, then separately sign up during the active departure window. Completing the Caravan alone does not enroll you. Quest progress is also no longer a guaranteed reset: Embark said upcoming Expeditions would let players opt out, but the exact in-game setting and the next cycle’s rules need checking before departure.
The fifth Expedition window ran September 8–29, 2026, and has closed. Embark said Expeditions would pause until early 2027 for major improvements, so there is no current departure date established here. Check the latest official Expedition announcement before making plans.
What to do before an ARC Raiders Expedition
Think of preparation as two separate tasks: build the Caravan, then sign up when the Expedition window opens. Embark’s fifth-cycle announcement described this sequence and said Caravan contributions could be completed between windows. They did not count as registration for departure.

Confirm that a window is scheduled, its start and end times, current challenge requirements, and how quest progress will be handled.
- Complete the Caravan requirements. You can work on Caravan contributions when they are available, but do not treat completion as sign-up.
- Decide whether to depart. Consider the cycle’s rewards, the active challenge, whether quest progress resets or can be retained, and what temporary progression or unfinished Caravan contents may be affected.
- Register during the departure window. Sign-up is a separate step. The fifth Expedition had no Last Call feature, so do not assume there will be a late-registration opportunity.
- Complete the cycle’s challenge and review any eligible catch-up. Requirements and rewards can change between Expeditions; use the live rules rather than a prior cycle’s checklist.
Do quests reset when you go on an Expedition?
Not necessarily. In its August 21, 2026 announcement, Embark said that upcoming Expeditions would let players opt out of resetting quest progress. The fifth Expedition announcement did not explain the exact settings flow, and the announcement does not establish what the next cycle’s interface or rules will be. Check the live game and the current official notice before you depart.

Older advice that treats a quest reset as inevitable is outdated for upcoming cycles. At the same time, do not assume that progress will automatically carry over: the choice and its presentation need to be confirmed for the Expedition you are joining.
How to complete quests without taking unnecessary risks
There is no official, verified route, loadout, or combat tactic established for completing particular quests safely. Use the current objective and conditions in your game rather than relying on a generic “best” route or equipment recommendation.
- Before entering a run, check the active quest objective and current map conditions so you know what you need to accomplish.
- Once the quest objective is complete, reassess whether continuing to loot is worth the additional exposure. Whether to extract depends on the situation and the current game rules.
- Before departure, verify the Expedition’s quest-progress choice and challenge requirements in the live game or latest announcement.
- Avoid risking valuable items to meet a remembered challenge target. Requirements have differed between cycles.
What the fifth Expedition announcement established
Embark’s fifth Expedition announcement is the latest status described here. Its departure window opened September 8, 2026, at 11:00 UTC and closed September 29, 2026, at 08:00 UTC. Embark said it would be the last Expedition until early 2027, when the feature was expected to return with major improvements. That was a target, not a confirmed live schedule.
The announcement listed a complete Zenith Outfit, mystery rewards, 12 additional stash spaces per Expedition up to 60, and a maximum of 15 bonus Expedition skill points. Catch-up for missed skill points remained tied to stash value and was available from a player’s second Expedition until the maximum was reached. It also said that earned consecutive buffs would persist during the pause.
For partially completed Caravans, the announcement said progress would be reset and replaced with Ermal Vouchers of equal value. Those vouchers could be used for Ermal offers alongside ARC Parts; ARC Parts and firearms could also be traded or sold for Coin. These are fifth-cycle details, not a guarantee of the next cycle’s terms.
Why old challenge guides can mislead
The fourth Expedition used total-damage thresholds of 5,000, 10,000, 30,000, 50,000, and 100,000 for its reward challenge. Its challenge rewards included Blueprints and Raider Tokens rather than skill points. Blueprints were temporary and reset on the next departure; Raider Tokens were permanent. These values describe that historical cycle only.

Catch-up rules have changed too. For the second Expedition, Embark described a requirement of 300,000 stash value per missed skill point. That is a historical example, not a current promise. Use the active cycle’s announcement for any target or catch-up calculation.

Make the decision against the current cycle’s rules, not an old guide. Weigh whether its permanent and cycle rewards matter to you, whether you can complete the active challenge within the window, how quest progress will be handled, what temporary progress or Caravan contents will be lost or converted, and whether you are ready to rebuild after departure. No future schedule or detailed opt-out flow is established by the fifth announcement alone.

Embark’s fifth Expedition announcement said the feature would pause until early 2027 for improvements. Because that was an announced return target and could be superseded, verify the latest official update before planning around a date.
