To get the iPhone model and storage you actually want, decide the configuration before preorder time, prepare your Apple Account, payment, carrier and trade-in details, and verify every line on the final review screen before submitting. The live Apple Store page for your country is the authority for the opening time, available models, storage choices, prices and delivery estimates; launch dates from an earlier cycle can be obsolete.
What to do before preorder day
Preorders move quickly because inventory is allocated by configuration, not just by the product family. A popular color or storage tier can have a later delivery estimate even when another version remains available. Preparation reduces the number of decisions you must make when ordering opens and helps you avoid submitting the wrong phone.
1. Check the correct regional Apple Store
Open the Apple Store for the country or region where the order will be placed. Confirm all of the following on the current launch or product page:

- The exact model is listed for preorder rather than only for notification or later sale.
- The opening date and time are shown in the local storefront’s time zone.
- The model is sold in your market and can be delivered to, or collected in, your location.
- The displayed price, taxes and available fulfillment choices apply to your transaction.
Apple’s US storefront, for example, listed iPhone 18 Pro among its models and showed iPhone Duo with “PRE-ORDER 10.16” when checked on October 13, 2026. That was a snapshot of the US site, not a permanent schedule for every market. Apple’s September 11, 2026 Newsroom announcement said iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max preorders began September 12 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time for that launch cycle. Do not reuse either date unless the live page for the phone and market you want shows it.

2. Choose the complete configuration in advance
Write down the exact combination you intend to buy:
- Model and screen-size variant, such as the Pro or Pro Max version if both are offered.
- Storage capacity.
- Color or finish.
- Unlocked purchase or a carrier-connected option.
- Delivery or Apple Store pickup.
Storage is the most easily overlooked choice because the selector may appear after you choose the model. The current iPhone 18 Pro storage menu was not established by the available information, so do not copy capacities from an older iPhone page or from a rumor. Confirm the capacities on the live page for the exact model. Apple’s product flow presents storage as a selectable configuration; the fact that an older product page has certain tiers does not prove that a new model has the same tiers.
3. Decide how much storage you need
Use your actual phone habits rather than choosing a capacity solely because it is the cheapest or largest option. Review your current phone’s storage usage and consider how long you expect to keep the new device.

- Higher capacity: most useful for extensive 4K video, large game libraries, professional media capture or keeping a phone for many years without frequent cleanup.
These descriptions are decision guidance, not a statement of which tiers Apple will offer. Select only from the capacities shown on the current product page.
4. Prepare your Apple Account and delivery details
Sign in before preorder time and check that your name, billing address, shipping address, telephone number and email are current. If you plan pickup, make sure the store you can reach is selected in the correct country and that the person collecting the order will meet Apple’s identification and authorization requirements. Pickup permissions can differ by market and order, so read the instructions displayed during checkout rather than assuming another person’s order can be collected without authorization.
5. Set up payment, financing and trade-in decisions
Apple’s US shopping help describes several payment paths: paying in full, Apple Card Monthly Installments and Apple Upgrade. Approval, credit requirements, available terms and eligibility vary by market and customer. Decide which path you want before the store opens and have any required account or card information available.

If you intend to trade in your current phone, enter its model and condition in advance where Apple allows it. Answer condition questions accurately; a changed assessment can alter the value or the amount you owe. Keep the old phone until the new order and trade-in instructions are confirmed, and back it up before handing it over. A trade-in is optional and should not delay a preorder if securing the desired configuration is more important than applying the credit immediately.

Carrier-connected checkout may ask for the carrier, account information, phone number, transfer details or plan eligibility. Gather those details before preorder time. Apple’s US shopping help also describes orders where you can connect to a carrier later, but that choice and the participating carriers are not universal across countries. Do not select a carrier merely because it appears in a US guide when ordering elsewhere.
7. Save the configuration if Apple offers it
Apple’s September 2026 launch guidance recommended choosing a model, pairing accessories, arranging financing pre-approval, setting up trade-in and saving the shopping bag before preorders opened. Use the save or shopping-bag feature if it is offered for your product and market. Saving is a convenience, not a reservation: availability and delivery estimates can still change when you submit the order.
Preorder-day procedure
When the opening time arrives, use the regional store page and move through checkout deliberately. A fast checkout is useful only if it produces the correct configuration.
- Open the live launch page at the stated time. Refresh only as needed and follow the current preorder link. If the page shows a different time or a waiting message, use the information displayed for your market rather than an old calendar reminder.
- Choose the exact model. Check the name and size variant before proceeding. Similar product names can place different cameras, displays or prices in the same family.
- Select storage and color. Read the selected values, not just the product image. If your preferred tier is unavailable, pause before substituting a different capacity.
- Choose unlocked or carrier activation. Confirm that the selection matches your plan. If you choose a carrier path, enter the requested account information and review any activation conditions.
- Apply trade-in and financing choices. Verify the trade-in device, estimated credit, installment plan or full-payment method. Eligibility or final trade-in value can affect the total.
- Select delivery or pickup. Compare the promised delivery date with pickup availability at a reachable store. Pickup is not complete until Apple sends a ready-for-collection notification.
- Review the complete order. Check model, storage, color, carrier or unlocked status, payment method, trade-in, quantity, taxes, total and delivery or pickup estimate.
- Submit once the details are correct. Save the order number and confirmation email immediately.
The final review: a configuration checklist

How to choose between delivery and pickup
Delivery
Delivery is useful when the estimate is acceptable and no convenient store has the desired configuration. Enter an address where someone can receive the package and monitor the order page for changes. Apple says shipping notifications include carrier and tracking information when available.

Apple Store pickup
Pickup can be faster when a nearby store shows stock, but the displayed availability is tied to that store and configuration. Select the correct location, read the identification and authorization instructions, and wait for Apple’s notification that the order is ready. Do not travel to the store based only on an order confirmation; confirmation does not mean the phone is ready for collection.

When the preferred option disappears
Inventory can change while you are comparing locations. Recheck the model, storage and color before switching to another store or shipping method. A replacement choice is a new configuration decision, not a harmless fulfillment change.
What happens after you submit
Confirmation versus fulfillment
The order confirmation proves that Apple accepted the order request and records the configuration you submitted. It is not a guarantee that the phone is already moving or ready for pickup. The Apple order listing provides the estimated delivery details for the specific order.
Tracking a shipped order
Open Apple’s order page using the account or order details supplied at checkout. When available, shipping notifications add the carrier and tracking number. Compare the tracking information with the original address and estimate, and keep the confirmation email until delivery is complete.

Watch the order page and notifications for the ready-for-pickup message. Follow the collection instructions exactly, including any identification or named-person requirements. If the status has not changed to ready, the store may not be able to release the order.
Why the estimate can change
Delivery timing is order- and location-specific. It can differ by model, storage, color, payment or activation path, destination and the moment the order was submitted. Treat the estimate on your order page as more relevant than a general launch announcement or another buyer’s date.
Handling limited availability and purchase limits
Apple says it may limit purchase quantities for popular products or products with supply constraints. A quantity limit can apply even when the product page remains visible. If you need more than one phone, check the limit shown in your market and order only the quantity allowed. Do not create multiple orders on the assumption that they will all be honored; review Apple’s terms and the status of each confirmed order instead.

If your preferred storage is unavailable, decide in advance which compromise you can accept:
- Keep the storage and change color.
- Keep the color and choose another storage tier.
- Keep the configuration and accept a later delivery estimate.
- Choose a different model only if its features and size still meet your needs.
Make the trade-off consciously. Buying a phone with too little storage is difficult to correct later because storage is not generally expanded after purchase.

The preorder page still shows an old date
Check that you are on the correct country storefront and the exact model page. Clear a stale tab by reopening the current launch page, then use the time displayed there. A date from a prior iPhone cycle is not a reliable substitute.
Your saved bag has changed
Re-read every line in the bag. Saved configurations can reflect current inventory, pricing or fulfillment rules. Confirm storage and color again instead of assuming the saved item is unchanged.
Financing is not approved
Proceed with an available payment method only if the resulting total and terms are acceptable. Financing approval and terms vary, and an unapproved installment choice should not be treated as a confirmed purchase method.
Carrier activation fails
Check the carrier, account number, transfer information and eligibility requirements. If the market offers a connect-later option, compare that path with contacting the carrier directly. Do not claim that a US activation option is available in another country without confirmation on that storefront.

The trade-in value looks wrong
Review the selected model and condition answers. If the phone has damage or a different capacity than entered, the estimated credit may not apply. You can remove the trade-in and complete the purchase if preserving the preorder is more important than the provisional credit.
Pickup is unavailable after selecting a store
Check another nearby store or switch to delivery, then review the revised estimate. Do not assume a store has inventory because it appeared in a previous search; stock is configuration-specific and can change.
The payment went through but no confirmation arrived
Check the Apple order page, account email, spam folder and card activity without repeatedly submitting a second order. If the order page does not show an order after Apple’s stated processing period, contact Apple through the support route shown for your region and provide the transaction details.
Where to order: compare the decision, not just the headline price
Apple’s official pages establish the checkout and order-status process for Apple purchases. They do not prove that another retailer has stock or that any seller will offer a particular configuration. If you compare sellers, use the same criteria for each offer:

Availability and offers are specific to market, carrier and transaction. There is no universal cheapest seller or guaranteed stock for every configuration.
Keeping the order secure and accurate
- Use the official regional Apple Store address you normally use, and avoid entering payment details into links received from unknown senders.
- Save the confirmation number privately; it is needed for support and status checks.
- Keep your old phone, SIM or eSIM information and trade-in materials until the new order is settled.
- Check that the shipping address is accessible and that someone can receive the package if a signature or secure handoff is required.
- Do not publish your order number, address or tracking number in a public forum.

Several days before opening
- Confirm the regional launch page and opening time.
- Choose model, storage, color and unlocked or carrier status.
- Review current storage usage and decide your acceptable fallback.
- Sign in and update billing, shipping and contact details.
- Arrange financing pre-approval if applicable.

- Gather carrier account details if activation is required.
- Save the shopping bag or configuration if Apple offers that feature.
At opening time
- Use the live regional page, not an old launch article.
- Reconfirm model, storage and color in the selector.
- Check carrier, payment, trade-in and fulfillment choices.
- Read the delivery or pickup estimate.
- Review the full order summary before submitting.
After ordering
- Save the confirmation and order number.
- Monitor Apple’s order page for the estimate and status.
- Use shipping tracking when Apple provides it.
- Wait for a pickup-ready notification before visiting a store.
- Keep the old device until trade-in and activation steps are complete.
What the available launch information does—and does not—tell you
Apple’s September 2026 announcement and current storefront demonstrate the importance of preparation, but they do not establish a permanent preorder calendar, the exact iPhone 18 Pro storage menu in every market, a guaranteed delivery date or inventory at independent sellers. The only dependable answer for your purchase is the live regional page and the estimate attached to your submitted order.
