The reliable way to learn Arjun is to start with his in-game Character Guide and any available Combo Trials, then turn each route into short sections in Training Mode. Practice with the control scheme you will actually use, keep the input display visible when available, and verify that every transition connects before attempting the complete sequence. Capcom has described Arjun’s recoverable-damage pressure, but its official material does not verify specific combo notation, damage values, or timing windows, so check every route in the current game build and on your platform.

What you need before practicing

You need Street Fighter 6, access to Arjun on your account or platform, and a control setup that matches the way you intend to play. Capcom announced Arjun as the second Year 4 character with a planned release date of October 13, 2026. The announced access model includes buying him with Fighter Coins or using the Year 4 Character Pass or Ultimate Pass. Because access and store listings can change after an announcement, check the character-select screen or your platform’s current Street Fighter 6 listing before you begin.

Arjun’s announced design combines power, projectiles and set-play moves. Some of his special moves can create recoverable damage even when the opponent blocks. That gray portion of health can be removed if Arjun hits the opponent before it returns. This mechanic is a reason to practice pressure situations, not proof of a particular combo route. The official character material does not establish which exact strings build a given amount of recoverable damage.

Choose the control type first

Set the control type you plan to use in matches before learning a sequence. Capcom describes Classic, Modern and Dynamic controls as separate options. Modern uses simpler button combinations for special attacks, while Dynamic is restricted to certain offline modes. A route learned with one command layout can feel entirely different when you change control types, so do not use Modern inputs in practice if you will compete with Classic, or practice an offline-only Dynamic setup for an online plan.

Street Fighter 6 - PS5
  • Classic Experience Built for a Modern Era: With all core gameplay modes present, plus two brand new modes and enhanced visuals, Street Fighter 6 redefines the classic fighting game genre.
  • Distinct Fighting Styles to Master: 18 diverse characters including legendary World Warriors and exciting brand new characters add their own flair to the game at launch, with more to be added post-launch.
  • Brand New Game Modes: The Street Fighter franchise continues to hone its skills and redefine the fighting genre with the introduction of three new foundational modes – Fighting Ground, World Tour and Battle Hub.
  • In-Game Commentating: Street Fighter’s first-ever Real-Time Commentary Feature, supported with subtitles in 13 languages, incorporates the voices of popular Fighting Game Community (FGC) commentators like Vicious and Aru directly into the game to narrate what is happening on-screen just like a real tournament.
  • Two New Control Schemes: Classic Controls returns alongside two brand new options: Modern Controls allow you to perform special attacks with simple button combinations and are designed for players who want to fight without memorizing and practicing special move button combinations first. Dynamic Controls only require a press of the Auto-Attack button to perform attacks and is a great control type to use when you have friends and family over for a quick, casual game.
  • Classic: select it when this is the command system you intend to use in play, and learn the directional and button inputs shown by the game.
  • Modern: use the simplified special-attack combinations described by Capcom’s support material, while still checking the normal-attack sequence required by the trial or guide.
  • Dynamic: treat it as an offline practice option because Capcom limits this control type to certain offline modes.

Use the same controller, stick, keyboard layout or pad profile during practice and matches. Consistency lets you diagnose execution errors instead of adapting to a second input layout.

Use the built-in resources to choose a route

Start with the Character Guide

Open Arjun’s Character Guide and read the entries for his characteristics and special moves. The guide is the best first stop for understanding what each move is intended to do, which attacks are described as important, and what kind of pressure the character is built around. It is a reference for selecting a goal; it is not a guarantee that every useful conversion appears there.

Check Combo Trials

Combo Trials are Street Fighter 6’s built-in lessons for practicing combos. Select an Arjun trial that matches your immediate goal rather than trying to clear every trial in order. A beginner may choose a short punish or a basic hit-confirm sequence. A player who already understands the character may choose a route that ends in a special move, sets up pressure, or starts from a situation likely to occur in a match.

Trials show the game’s intended inputs and timing for that exercise. They should not be treated as the only viable routes, a complete list of Arjun’s options, or evidence that a route remains unchanged after a balance update. If the game presents a route differently from an older video or written guide, use the current in-game display as the starting reference and test it yourself.

Write down one specific objective

Before entering free practice, define one objective in observable terms. Examples include “connect the first normal into the next attack,” “confirm the starter on a standing opponent,” or “end the sequence in the intended pressure situation.” Avoid a vague target such as “learn Arjun’s combos.” A narrow objective produces a repeatable drill and makes an error easy to identify.

Configure Training Mode without guessing at menu labels

Street Fighter 6 Training Mode can be customized for different opponents and situations. The exact menu names and display locations can differ by platform or game version, so use the labels shown by your current build rather than relying on an old screenshot. Capcom also provides Simple Training Settings for players who do not need detailed adjustments.

Set the starting situation

Place the dummy in the position that matches your goal. For a basic route, begin with a neutral, standing opponent. For a punish, set the dummy to perform the move or recovery you are trying to punish. For a pressure sequence, place the dummy at the distance and on the side of the screen where the sequence is intended to work.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Check whether the dummy is standing, crouching, blocking or performing another action before judging the combo. A route that is supposed to be a hit confirm cannot be evaluated while the dummy is permanently blocking, and a blockstring cannot be evaluated with the dummy set to ignore block.

Turn on the information you need

  • Keep the input display visible if the current version offers that setting. It lets you see whether a missed special move came from an incorrect direction, an extra direction, a button pressed too early, or a button pressed too late.
  • Use the frame, damage or other displays that are relevant to your objective when they are available in your version. Do not record a damage number as a universal Arjun value unless you have checked the same conditions, including the dummy’s state and any meter settings.
  • Reset the dummy and player positions frequently. Repeatedly practicing from a slightly different distance can hide a spacing problem.

Use simple settings when detail is unnecessary

Simple Training Settings are useful when you want to repeat a straightforward route without configuring every opponent behavior. Switch to more detailed adjustments when the exercise depends on blocking, a reversal, a jump, a wake-up action or another specific response. The principle is to configure only the behavior needed for the question you are testing.

Practice Arjun’s combo in short, repeatable sections

1. Learn the starter by itself

Perform the first attack from the exact range you expect to use. Confirm that it reaches the dummy and that you are not relying on an accidental counter-hit or unusual spacing. Repeat the starter until you can produce it without watching your hands. If the route begins from a jump-in, dash, punish or other situation, practice that entry separately before adding the follow-up.

2. Add only the next transition

Reduce the route to two pieces: the starter and the next move. Do not attempt the entire trial immediately. Perform the starter, wait for the appropriate hit or cancel cue, and add the next input. If the second move does not connect, use the input display and the dummy’s behavior to determine whether the issue is timing, spacing, an incorrect command or a route that is not valid in the current build.

3. Join two successful sections

Once the first transition is reliable, practice the next transition by itself, then join the two sections. Think of the sequence as starter → transition → ender, without filling in unverified button notation. This method keeps a single mistake from being buried inside a long string of inputs.

4. Confirm that every hit actually connects

Visual completion is not enough. Watch the dummy’s reactions and the training displays to verify that each attack hits or is blocked as intended. A move that appears in the animation may have whiffed, been blocked, or connected only because the dummy was in an unusual state. Check the route from both sides of the screen if the character’s motion or your directional inputs make side switching relevant.

5. Add the intended ender and situation

After the middle of the route is stable, add the final special, ender or set-play action shown by the guide or trial. Then reset and test the situation that follows: distance, side of the screen, opponent state and whether the opponent can block or act. Arjun’s set-play identity means the result after the final hit can matter as much as the sequence that produced it, but the official announcement does not define a universal ender for every starter.

6. Repeat from a realistic entry

Finish the drill by starting from the situation in which you expect to use the route. Do not begin every repetition with the dummy already inside the combo. Use the intended neutral poke, punish, jump-in, drive impact or other entry, and then perform the practiced section. This exposes spacing and recognition problems that a stationary starter can hide.

Practice the recoverable-damage mechanic as a situation

Capcom’s announcement explains the broad rule: some of Arjun’s special moves can build recoverable damage while the opponent guards, and that gray health is lost if Arjun hits the opponent before it recovers. The announcement does not publish a move-by-move list, a fixed amount of gray damage, or exact timing windows.

Build a blocking drill

  1. Set the dummy to guard and choose the special move or sequence identified by the current in-game guide as relevant to Arjun’s pressure.
  2. Observe whether the opponent’s health display shows recoverable damage under the conditions you selected.
  3. Reset and repeat the sequence while watching when the gray health begins to return.
  4. Insert the follow-up hit you want to test before that recovery completes.
  5. Verify whether the gray portion disappears when the follow-up connects. Record the result for your own current version rather than copying an unverified number.

This drill teaches the decision the mechanic creates: continue pressure when the opponent is guarding, then threaten a real hit before recoverable health returns. It does not establish that every Arjun combo benefits from the mechanic. Test each special move and follow-up separately.

Use dummy recording for opponent-specific situations

Training Mode supports customized practice routines, including recorded dummy behavior. Recording is useful when the route depends on what the opponent does rather than on a passive standing target. For example, you can record an approach, a block, a jump or a wake-up action, then practice recognizing the situation and choosing the appropriate conversion.

A Switch 2 manual page documents recording up to eight dummy actions and replaying selected recordings. Treat that eight-action limit as platform-specific; do not assume the same count on PlayStation, Xbox or PC without checking the manual or current interface for that platform.

A practical recording drill

  1. Choose one opponent behavior that can invalidate your plan, such as blocking or moving away.
  2. Record the behavior using the training controls shown on your platform.
  3. Replay it and practice the starter without knowing exactly when the behavior will occur.
  4. Watch the input display and the dummy’s response to determine whether your chosen route was appropriate.
  5. Add a second recorded behavior only after the first has become readable.

Recording is most valuable when it tests a decision. If you are still learning the raw inputs, use a stationary dummy first so that a failed attempt does not combine an execution error with a recognition error.

How to tell whether a route is ready for matches

Check consistency, not a single success

A route is ready for match use when you can begin it from the intended situation, complete the transitions, and recover when the opponent blocks or the starter does not connect. One successful attempt proves that the inputs are possible; it does not prove that the sequence is reliable under pressure.

Test both sides and common states

  • Perform the route facing left and facing right.
  • Test the starter against a standing and crouching dummy when the route is intended to work against both.
  • Check the sequence on hit and on block if you plan to use it as pressure rather than as a hit-only combo.
  • Repeat after a reset so that you are not unconsciously using a favorable screen position.

Measure only what you have actually checked

If you choose to record damage, meter use, corner carry or recoverable-damage behavior, write down the conditions: control type, dummy state, meter setting, screen position and game version. A number from one setup is not automatically a universal Arjun specification. The official material available for this topic does not supply verified route comparisons, damage totals or timing windows.

A compact practice session you can repeat

The following sequence keeps a session focused without assuming any particular Arjun notation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Choose one route: select a Character Guide example or Combo Trial that fits your current goal.
  2. Set controls: use Classic, Modern or another supported type that matches your intended matches.
  3. Configure the dummy: select the standing, blocking or recorded behavior required by the exercise.
  4. Practice the starter: perform it repeatedly from the correct distance.
  5. Add one transition: use the input display to correct the first failure.
  6. Join the sections: add the remaining transition and ender only after each part works independently.
  7. Test the situation: check what happens when the dummy blocks, moves or performs the recorded action.
  8. Run a match-like repetition: begin from the real entry instead of from a pre-positioned hit.
  9. Review the result: identify one change for the next session, such as earlier recognition, cleaner spacing or a more reliable ender.

Keep the objective small enough that you can repeat it several times without changing settings. A short, controlled drill usually teaches more than repeatedly restarting a long trial after an early mistake.

Troubleshooting common failures

The special move does not come out

Look at the input display immediately after the failure. If the directional sequence is incomplete or contains an extra direction, slow down the motion and separate the command from the button press. If the command is correct but the move still fails, check whether you pressed during a recovery or cancel window that the route requires. Do not assume the written route is wrong until you have confirmed the current trial or guide input.

The second attack whiffs

Reset the spacing and test the transition from a closer and farther starting position. The starter may have pushed the dummy out of range, or the route may require a different hit level or timing. Confirm whether the trial expects a cancel, a link or a delayed follow-up; the game’s demonstration and input display are more reliable than memory.

The dummy blocks unexpectedly

Check the dummy’s guard setting and whether the route is intended as a hit confirm. A sequence that only connects after a counter-hit or on a standing target should not be labeled a universal combo. Record the exact condition under which it works and practice recognizing that condition.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The route worked before an update

Reopen the current Character Guide or Combo Trial and test the sequence in the current build. Balance changes can alter timing or reach. Because no authoritative move-by-move Arjun list is established in the official material used here, avoid publishing an old route as verified without checking it again.

You can do it in Training Mode but not in a match

Add the entry and the decision to your drill. Practice from neutral, after a blocked attack, or against a recorded dummy action instead of starting from a guaranteed hit. Reduce the route to the shortest reliable conversion until recognition and execution are stable, then expand it.

Practice while waiting for online matchmaking

Capcom’s manual says matchmaking can continue while you start Training or Combo Trials. If that option is enabled in your current version and mode, it lets you rehearse a short section while waiting for an opponent. Treat this as maintenance practice rather than a substitute for a focused session: online settings may limit which training features are available, and you should verify the current interface before relying on a particular waiting-room option.

What is and is not verified about Arjun combos

The verified information supports a method, not a published list of universal routes. Character Guides explain fighter characteristics and special moves, Combo Trials teach built-in exercises, and Training Mode lets you customize opponents and situations. Arjun’s announcement establishes his power, projectile and set-play identity and the recoverable-damage pressure mechanic. It does not provide official notation for every combo, damage values, cancel timings, or a ranking of routes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Therefore, present a route as current only after checking it in the game version and on the platform for which you are writing. If you later compare two verified routes, useful criteria include starting situation, meter requirement, execution difficulty, damage, corner carry and the pressure created afterward. Do not fill those fields with estimates or numbers copied from an unverified source.

Final checklist

  • Have you selected one clear conversion or pressure goal?
  • Are your Training Mode controls the same type you will use in matches?
  • Did you learn the starter and each transition separately?
  • Did you verify every hit, block interaction and ender in the current build?
  • Did you test the route from a realistic entry and from both sides?
  • If the exercise uses recoverable damage, did you test the gray-health behavior instead of assuming it?
  • If you recorded a dummy, did you check the recording features and action limit for your platform?
  • Are any damage, timing or route claims limited to the conditions you actually tested?

That process turns Arjun’s built-in lessons and announced mechanics into a dependable practice routine without pretending that unverified combo notation is official. Start with one route, make every transition repeatable, then expand the drill to the situations you expect to face.
