There is no officially documented way to run Xbox Cloud Gaming directly on a PS5. PlayStation says the PS5 has no dedicated web-browser app, and Xbox’s current cloud-gaming information lists supported devices and browsers without naming PS5. The practical choices are to use Xbox Cloud Gaming on a device Xbox supports, or try an unofficial homebrew client on a jailbroken PS5. The homebrew project’s author reports testing it on only one PS5 running system software 13.60, so it is an experiment rather than a guaranteed feature.
This guide separates the supported route from the community workaround, explains the exact requirements reported for each, and shows what is—and is not—known about compatibility, controllers, network quality, account safety, and newer firmware.
The answer in brief
If by “on PS5” you mean opening a normal browser on an unmodified console and visiting Xbox’s cloud-gaming site, the answer is no documented official method. PlayStation’s PS5 FAQ states: “No, the PS5 system doesn’t include a dedicated web browser app.” Xbox describes cloud play through supported devices and browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Safari, but its published device information does not identify PS5.

A community post quoting the project’s GitHub description says to copy a folder named PPSA99810 into /data/homebrew/, launch it with a homebrew loader, and sign in with a Microsoft account using a code displayed on the television. The author says an Xbox Game Pass subscription is required and that the DualSense acts as the Xbox controller. The same author also says, “I tested only on one PS5 (13.60) so any feedback would be good.” No broader firmware compatibility or independent performance verification is established.

What the official Xbox route supports
Xbox Cloud Gaming is a streaming service. The game runs on Microsoft’s servers and sends video to your device while your controller inputs travel back over the internet. Because the service depends on an approved device, browser, account, region, and game catalog, having a fast connection alone does not make an unsupported console compatible.
Account, plan, region, and game requirements
- Xbox says cloud play requires an active eligible Game Pass plan and a supported game in a supported region.
- The current Xbox requirements information describes cloud gaming eligibility across Ultimate, Premium, and Essential plans. It does not say that those plans have identical catalogs, limits, or benefits, so check the entitlement shown for your account.
- Select free-to-play games can be accessed with a free Microsoft account instead of a paid plan. That exception does not turn PS5 into an officially supported cloud device.
- Both the game and the service must be available in your region. Xbox’s reported availability has covered 28 major markets at one point in time, but availability and catalog rules can change.
Supported browsers and devices
When Xbox describes browser play, it gives Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Safari as examples. A Microsoft developer article published in March 2025 discusses browser access on iOS, Android, Chromebooks, and non-gaming PCs. Those examples establish the type of environment Xbox supports; they do not establish that the PS5 system software, a hidden web surface, or a homebrew client is supported.
Controller requirements
Xbox says a compatible controller can connect by Bluetooth or USB, with touch controls available in selected games. Its developer information lists Xbox controllers, PlayStation DualSense and DualShock controllers, and Nintendo Switch Pro controllers among supported Bluetooth families on supported devices. That is useful if you play in a supported browser on a computer, phone, tablet, or Chromebook. It is not a certification of DualSense operation inside the PS5 homebrew application.
Connection guidance
Xbox’s general guidance gives a minimum download speed of 10 Mbps. Some devices may need 20 Mbps for the best quality, and Xbox recommends a 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection. Streaming quality also depends on latency, wireless interference, your distance from the service, the device, and other traffic on the network. These figures are service guidance, not a performance promise for the PS5 homebrew client.
Option 1: play Xbox Cloud Gaming on a supported device
This is the defensible, officially documented path. It does not run the stream inside an unmodified PS5, but it avoids jailbreaking and uses the browser and device classes Xbox describes.
- Confirm eligibility. Sign in with the Microsoft account you intend to use. Verify that your Game Pass plan includes cloud gaming, or choose a supported free-to-play title that permits cloud access with a free account.
- Check the region and title. Make sure the game is offered for cloud play where you live. A game in your console library is not automatically a cloud title, and a cloud title is not necessarily available in every market.
- Choose a listed device. Use a compatible phone, tablet, Chromebook, PC, or another device and browser combination identified by Xbox. On a computer, Edge and Chrome are examples Xbox names; Safari is an example for compatible Apple browser use.
- Open Xbox’s cloud-gaming web experience. Use the current Xbox cloud-gaming page and sign in. Labels, plan names, and the catalog can change, so follow the account page’s current prompts rather than an old screenshot.
- Pair a controller. Connect an Xbox, DualSense, DualShock, or Switch Pro controller by Bluetooth or USB when supported by the device. Some games expose touch controls, but touch availability is title-specific.
- Test the stream before troubleshooting the console. Start a game and check input delay, image quality, and disconnects. If the supported device works, the account and service are functioning; moving the same account to an unsupported PS5 does not create official compatibility.
What using a DualSense elsewhere does—and does not—prove
Xbox’s controller documentation means a DualSense can be accepted by Xbox Cloud Gaming on supported devices. It does not mean that the PS5 operating system will expose the controller correctly to a browser or that the community client will keep every DualSense feature. The homebrew author separately claims that the app maps DualSense as an Xbox controller; treat that as a project-specific claim.

Option 2: the reported PS5 homebrew client
The homebrew method is for a jailbroken PS5, not a standard retail installation. The available description comes from a community post relaying the project’s GitHub details. It is not an Xbox-supported product, and the evidence does not establish current release status, the jailbreak requirements, or support for firmware versions newer than the one the author tested.

Before you begin
- You need a PS5 capable of running the required jailbreak and homebrew loader. The project description does not establish that every PS5 model or firmware can do this.
- You need the homebrew package containing the
PPSA99810folder and a way to copy files into the console’s homebrew location. - You need a Microsoft account and, according to the project author, an Xbox Game Pass subscription. Subscription purchase still does not make the PS5 an officially supported Xbox Cloud Gaming device.
- You need a compatible network. Xbox’s 10 Mbps minimum, possible 20 Mbps recommendation, and 5 GHz advice are general service guidance only; no PS5-client benchmark was supplied.
- You should accept that the project may fail on your firmware and that installing or operating jailbreak software can have security, account, update, and warranty consequences that are not documented by the cited material.
Reported installation sequence
- Obtain the project files from the project’s own release or repository. Confirm that the package is intended for your jailbreak environment. Do not install an unrelated package merely because it uses a similar name.
- Extract the archive. The author’s instructions identify a folder named
PPSA99810. - Copy the folder to the homebrew path. Place the extracted folder at
/data/homebrew/PPSA99810, preserving the folder name and internal files. - Launch it with the loader. The project description says the app is started through a homebrew loader. The exact loader screen and menu wording depend on the jailbreak environment, which the available description does not specify.
- Complete the displayed-code sign-in. The author says the app shows a code on the TV. Use that code with the Microsoft account sign-in flow; do not type your Microsoft password into an unverified prompt or send credentials to another person.
- Start a cloud title. Select a game available to your account and region, then test a short session before assuming that long play sessions are stable.
- Use the DualSense as reported by the author. The project author says it functions as the Xbox controller. Actual button mapping, vibration, headset behavior, and firmware compatibility may differ from that report.
The account file warning
The project author identifies the sign-in file as PPSA99810/account.json and warns users never to share it because it grants access to the Microsoft account. Treat that file like a credential: do not upload it to a forum, attach it to a support request, or send it to someone offering to “fix” the installation. If you believe it was exposed, use Microsoft’s account-security controls from a trusted device and review active sessions.
Compatibility evidence and its limits
The strongest compatibility statement available for the homebrew route is also its narrowest: the author tested one PS5 running system software 13.60. That does not establish support for every PS5 model, every jailbreak method, or any later firmware. It also does not tell you whether the application remains maintained, whether Xbox sign-in changes have affected it, or whether the project works reliably for multiple users.
No independent performance test was found for the PS5 client. Microsoft reports that 140 million hours were streamed through Xbox Cloud Gaming between October and December 2024, and describes a 16–72 millisecond input-latency reduction from its Direct Capture optimization depending on the game. Those are Microsoft’s service-level figures, not measurements of this homebrew application and not a prediction of latency on your PS5.
Official route versus PS5 homebrew
| Factor | Supported-device browser | PS5 homebrew client |
|---|---|---|
| Official status | Uses device and browser classes described by Xbox. | Community project; not documented as an Xbox-supported PS5 feature. |
| PS5 modification | Not required, but the stream runs on another supported device. | Requires a jailbroken PS5 and a homebrew loader. |
| Firmware evidence | Depends on the supported device and current Xbox requirements. | Author reports one PS5 on system software 13.60; later compatibility is not established. |
| Controller | Xbox lists Xbox, DualSense, DualShock, and Switch Pro Bluetooth families on supported devices. | Author says DualSense functions as the Xbox controller; independent verification is not available. |
| Network guidance | Xbox says 10 Mbps minimum, 20 Mbps may be needed on some devices, and recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi. | Those same figures are only general guidance; no client-specific test is established. |
| Confidence | Higher, because it follows Xbox’s published support model. | Lower, because compatibility and continued operation are based on a limited community report. |
Network setup for cloud streaming
Cloud gaming reacts to delay and packet loss more severely than downloading a game. Start with Xbox’s stated 10 Mbps minimum, but do not treat that number as a guarantee of a clean stream. If the device is capable of it, use 5 GHz Wi-Fi as Xbox recommends; place the device close to the access point, reduce competing traffic, and avoid testing while large uploads or downloads are running.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf the picture is blurry or repeatedly changes quality
- Run a speed test on the same device and in the same room where you play.
- Stop other high-bandwidth activity and retest.
- Move from a congested 2.4 GHz network to 5 GHz when the device and router support it.
- Check whether the problem occurs only at busy times or only with one game. That distinction helps separate local Wi-Fi congestion from service or route conditions.
If controls feel delayed
- Test the controller over USB if your supported device permits it, then compare with Bluetooth.
- Reduce wireless distance and interference.
- Try a different supported device before changing PS5 homebrew files. A delay on every device points to the connection or route; a delay only in the homebrew app points to unverified client compatibility.
Homebrew troubleshooting and stop conditions
The app does not appear in the loader
Check that the path is exactly /data/homebrew/PPSA99810/ and that extraction did not create an extra nested folder such as /data/homebrew/PPSA99810/PPSA99810/. If the folder is correct and still invisible, the loader or jailbreak environment may not support the package. The project description does not provide a universal loader procedure, so do not assume a missing icon means the files are safe to alter arbitrarily.

The app starts but sign-in fails
Verify that the displayed-code process is being completed with the intended Microsoft account and that the account has the required cloud entitlement. Never share account.json. If sign-in stopped working after an Xbox service change, firmware update, or project change, the available report offers no supported repair.
The game launches and then disconnects
Check region, title eligibility, and network quality first. Then test the same account on an officially supported device. If the supported device works but the PS5 client disconnects, that is evidence of an app or compatibility problem—not proof that your Game Pass plan is invalid.
A system update is offered
Do not update a jailbroken console automatically when compatibility matters. The cited project report does not establish support for newer firmware, and updating can change the jailbreak conditions. Confirm current compatibility from the project’s own maintained information before changing system software.

Security, account, and warranty considerations
The official browser route avoids modifying the PS5. The homebrew route changes the console’s software environment and introduces an unofficial application that handles Microsoft account sign-in. The available sources do not establish the project’s security audit, update policy, account-protection guarantees, or effect on Sony warranty and service. Keep those unknowns separate from Xbox’s published service requirements.
Use a unique, protected Microsoft account, avoid sending account files to anyone, and stop if a package requests credentials in a way that does not match the described code-based sign-in. If you cannot verify the jailbreak, loader, package origin, or firmware compatibility, the supported-device route is the lower-risk choice.
What to choose
- Choose a supported device and browser if you want the clearest compatibility story, official requirements, and a setup that does not modify your PS5.
- Consider the homebrew client only if you already understand PS5 jailbreaking, accept that the evidence covers one PS5 on 13.60, and can tolerate breakage after service or firmware changes.
- Do not interpret a Game Pass subscription as PS5 support. It satisfies an account requirement; it does not add PS5 to Xbox’s published device list.
The Bottom Line
Xbox Cloud Gaming is not officially documented for direct play on PS5. Use a supported browser device for the reliable route. The jailbroken-PS5 homebrew client is a limited, unofficial experiment reported on one PS5 running system software 13.60, with no established guarantee for newer firmware or general performance.
