Not as native console VR: Xbox does not list a mode that turns Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S games into stereoscopic or room-scale VR. You can, however, use selected Meta Quest headsets to play Xbox cloud games on a large virtual screen. That is conventional gameplay streamed into a headset—not an Xbox VR game experience. Xbox’s support page describes the Quest cloud-gaming option.
What “Xbox in VR” means in practice
There are two different experiences people may mean by Xbox VR:
- Native console VR: the console renders a game for stereoscopic or room-scale play, with the headset tracking your movement. Xbox’s official headset page does not list this capability for Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.
- Cloud gaming on a virtual screen: an Xbox game streams to a supported Quest headset and appears on a large screen in the headset. You play the ordinary game with a controller; the screen does not make it a VR title.
So a Quest can be an option if you want to wear a headset while playing Xbox cloud games, but it is not a way to convert console games into VR.

What you need to play
A supported headset and Xbox app
Use one of the Quest models named by Xbox and access Xbox cloud gaming through the Xbox app. This is a cloud-streaming route, not a connection that makes the headset a display for native Xbox console VR.

A supported game and, usually, Game Pass
Xbox says most cloud games require an active Xbox Game Pass subscription and a supported game. Selected free-to-play games are exceptions. Check the current catalog and plan eligibility for your region on Xbox’s live support page before buying a headset; titles, features, and availability can change by time, region, plan, and platform.
A controller
Xbox lists Quest controllers, an Xbox Wireless Controller, and an Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 as controller options. Its announcement for the limited-edition Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition also names Bluetooth pairing for the Xbox Adaptive Controller. Controller choice changes how you control the streamed game, not whether the game is native VR. Xbox Wire’s announcement describes the bundle and controller pairing.

Is the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition the right choice?
Xbox announced a limited-edition Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition bundle. It is relevant if you want an Xbox-themed Quest headset for cloud gaming on a virtual screen. It should not be mistaken for a dedicated Xbox console VR headset: the described use is streaming conventional Xbox games, not rendering them as VR titles.
The cited Xbox information does not establish current local pricing or availability of the bundle. Check whether it is sold in your market and compare the headset’s broader standalone-VR features before deciding. Buying a headset also does not, by itself, provide an Xbox Game Pass subscription.

How to decide before you buy
- Decide what you expect. If you want a large virtual screen while playing, Quest cloud gaming may fit. If you want Xbox console games to become room-scale or stereoscopic VR, the official Xbox pages cited here do not establish that option.
- Confirm your game access. Check that the games you want are currently available for cloud play in your region and that your plan qualifies. Most cloud games require active Game Pass; selected free-to-play titles are exceptions.
- Pick a supported Quest model. Xbox names Quest 3S, Quest 3, Quest Pro, and Quest 2. Compare them for your broader VR use rather than assuming Xbox cloud compatibility means equivalent image quality, comfort, or value.
- Choose your controller. Decide whether you prefer Quest controllers or a supported Xbox controller, and verify compatibility for the specific controller you intend to use.
- Verify current terms. Game catalog, features, and availability vary by region, plan, platform, and time. The Xbox support page is the place to check current details.
