What happens in the quest
Prologue to Tau is designed as a short, story-focused chapter that follows The Old Peace and points toward the Tau storyline. Xbox Wire describes it as a “bite-sized” addition to Warframe’s cinematic campaign.
Playing as the Lotus
The chapter lets you control the Lotus directly for the first time. That makes it different from a conventional Warframe mission: the emphasis is on a character and story sequence that has previously been presented primarily through cinematics and dialogue.

The customized Vessel and Eris
You use the Vessel you customized during TennoLive on the surface of Eris. The setting ties the playable sequence to the broader Tau buildup while keeping the activity inside the permanent quest campaign.
Infested boss encounter
The quest culminates in a large Infested boss encounter. The available official descriptions identify the encounter but do not publish a complete objective-by-objective walkthrough, boss attack list, or recommended build. Expect a cinematic mission with a major combat set piece rather than a long, repeatable farming node.

Prologue to Tau versus Epoch Operation: Taubound
The two pieces of content are connected in the story, but they have different access rules, schedules and activities. Starting one does not mean you have started the other.
| Category | Prologue to Tau | Epoch Operation: Taubound |
|---|---|---|
| How to access it | Complete The Hex and The Old Peace, then select it in the Orbiter’s Codex. | Use the operation content on Eris; Vor’s Prize is the requirement for event Eris access, and the two Tau quests are not required to harvest Moonflesh. |
| Availability | Permanent addition to the Main Story, available after release and replayable. | Limited-time event running October 15 through November 17, 2026. |
| Main activity | A short, cinematic quest featuring the Lotus, the customized Vessel and an Infested boss encounter. | Collect Moonflesh on Eris and participate in the operation’s event activities. |
| Story and rewards | Continues the narrative after The Old Peace; Shacknews reports Taubound Honoria as the completion reward. | Has its own operation rewards and Praghasa dialogue. Those rewards are not rewards for completing the Prologue. |
Digital Extremes states that the Prologue remains in the Codex after Taubound ends and is not tied to the operation’s rewards or Praghasa dialogue. You can therefore wait until after November 17, 2026 to play the quest without losing access.

Replayability and progression
The launch hotfix calls the Prologue Chapters a permanent addition to the Main Story and explicitly says they are replayable. If you want to revisit the cinematic sequence, return to the same Codex category and select the completed chapter again. Replay access does not turn it into a Moonflesh-collection activity, and the operation’s event schedule does not control whether the quest can be replayed.

What reward should you expect?
Shacknews reports that completing Prologue to Tau awards Taubound Honoria. The official announcements reviewed for the launch do not publish a larger item-by-item reward table, so treat Taubound Honoria as the confirmed reported reward and check the in-game completion screen for any additional account-specific entries.
