Check Play Pass and Android eligibility first
Play Pass access depends on more than whether the game appears in a web search. Google ties the service to the Play country, account type and device environment. Confirm these conditions before troubleshooting the game listing.
| Requirement | What to check |
|---|---|
| Android version | The device must run Android 4.4 or newer. |
| Google Play Store | Use Google Play Store version 16.6.25 or newer. |
| Country | Your country must support Google Play Pass, and the catalog must include the game there. |
| Google account | Use a personal Google account. Work and school accounts cannot subscribe to Play Pass. |
| Payment profile | A valid payment method is required, and the billing country must match the Google Play country. |
| Subscription | Your Play Pass subscription must be active for subscription access. |
A compatible Android version alone does not guarantee access. Google says Play Pass availability and included titles vary by country and may change when the catalog is updated.
Install The Case of the Golden Idol from Google Play
- Open Google Play Store. Sign in with the personal Google account that holds your Play Pass subscription.
- Search the exact title. Enter
The Case of the Golden Idol. Avoid similarly named results and old third-party download pages. - Open the Playstack listing. Check the publisher name, game icon and exact title before installing.
- Verify the Play Pass badge. The details page should show the Play Pass logo or label near the app information. Google identifies included apps this way.
- Tap Install. Google Play handles the download and installation. If your subscription and account are eligible, the game installs without requiring a separate purchase at that point.
- Launch the game. Open it from the Play Store page or your app drawer after installation and follow the game’s initial prompts.
If searching is inconvenient, use the official Google Play listing from a trusted Playstack or Google Play source rather than downloading an APK from an unrelated site. A copied APK cannot provide reliable Play Pass entitlement and may be modified or unsafe.

How to confirm that Play Pass is covering the game
Do not infer inclusion from the game’s price or from an old article. On the current app-details page, look specifically for the Play Pass logo. Google describes this as the visual confirmation that an app is part of the subscription catalog.
Play Pass is a catalog benefit, not a universal license for every Android app. The same title can be included for one Play country or account and unavailable for another. A listing can also remain visible in Google Play after its Play Pass inclusion changes, so the badge is the useful check at installation time.
If the Play Pass badge is missing
Work through these checks in order. They separate an account or region problem from a listing change.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCheck the listing and publisher
Search again for the full title and open the result published by Playstack. A similarly named app, an early-access page or a result from another publisher will not show the same entitlement. Confirm the icon and the title before judging availability.

Check your Play country
Google says Play Pass catalogs are country-specific. If your Google Play country is different from your physical location or billing profile, the catalog can differ. Check the country associated with Google Play and make sure it matches the billing country required for your account. Changing a Play country is a Google account setting with its own restrictions; do not repeatedly switch countries just to chase a catalog entry.
Check the account type
Play Pass subscriptions require a personal Google account. A work or school account cannot subscribe, even if the device itself is compatible. Switch to the personal account that owns the subscription, then reopen the Play Store listing.
Check the subscription and payment profile
Open the Play Pass area in Google Play and confirm that the subscription is active. Verify that the account has a valid payment method and that the billing country and Play country match. An expired subscription or mismatched profile can remove the badge even when the game is listed in the store.

Update Google Play Store
The documented minimum is Play Store version 16.6.25. Update Google Play, restart the device, and search again. If the device cannot run a current enough Play Store, it may fail the Play Pass requirements even when Android itself is new enough.

Allow for catalog changes
Google can add or remove titles and change offers by country. If all account and device checks pass but the badge still does not appear, the game may not currently be included for that account. Do not assume that a screenshot or an older announcement represents the current catalog.
What the Android listing says you receive
The store description uses the line “TRY BEFORE YOU BUY – MURDER MYSTERY DETECTIVE PUZZLE.” It says one purchase unlocks 12 scenarios and 6 bonus cases. The listing also identifies the expansions The Spider of Lanka and The Lemurian Vampire.
According to the listing, the uninterrupted detective experience has no ads or extra in-app purchases. That statement describes the store offering and should be read alongside the Play Pass terms: if Play Pass access ends or the title leaves the catalog, the purchase and advertising conditions can change.
Play Pass access versus buying the Android game
There are two practical access routes. Play Pass is useful when you already subscribe and the game is included in your country. A separate purchase is the fallback if the title is not included or if you want ownership that does not depend on continued catalog membership.

| Factor | Play Pass | Separate purchase |
|---|---|---|
| How you start | Maintain an eligible Play Pass subscription and install while the badge is shown. | Buy the Android listing through Google Play when offered for your account. |
| Availability | Depends on country, account eligibility and the title remaining in the catalog. | Depends on the paid listing being sold in your Play country. |
| Cost pattern | Included while the recurring subscription is active; no separate game payment during inclusion. | One-time purchase according to the price displayed in Google Play at checkout. |
| Catalog risk | Google may remove the title or change regional inclusion. | Access is not tied to the title remaining in Play Pass, although store and account policies still apply. |
| Content shown by the listing | The Play Pass listing presents the game’s scenarios, bonus cases and named expansions. | The exact content and any upgrade terms are whatever Google Play shows on the purchase page. |
Do not treat Play Pass inclusion as a permanent ownership transfer. It is subscription access for as long as the title remains eligible and your subscription remains active.
What happens when Play Pass ends
Google says installed apps and their data remain on the device after a Play Pass subscription ends. Paid content can then prompt you to buy it separately, and ads or in-app purchases can return where the developer’s paid version supports them.
If The Case of the Golden Idol leaves the Play Pass catalog while you are subscribed, Google says paid apps may remain usable for some time before a separate purchase is required. The exact grace period is not a promise of permanent access, so keep your save data and be prepared for a purchase prompt.

The franchise’s official where-to-buy page still displays “No products available for this platform yet” under its Google Play section. That platform note conflicts with the current Google Play listing and Playstack’s same-day announcement. For the Android and Play Pass question, the live store listing and the developer announcement are the more recent evidence; the franchise page appears to contain stale platform metadata.
