You cannot currently play an official Xbox-console version of R.E.P.O.. The documented release is the Windows PC version on Steam. Its online co-op supports up to six players, but there is no confirmed Xbox edition, Xbox release date, Game Pass listing, or Xbox–PC cross-play information.
What platform is R.E.P.O. available on?
R.E.P.O. is currently documented as a Windows PC game distributed through Steam. The Steam listing identifies semiwork as both developer and publisher and gives February 26, 2025 as the release date. It is an Early Access title, so its platforms, features and content can change during development.
Because the official listing describes a Windows release rather than an Xbox console edition, an Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S installation path is not available in the current official information. Searching the Xbox store for the game, owning an Xbox console, or having an Xbox account does not provide a documented way to launch this release.

How to play R.E.P.O. co-op right now
The supported route is a Windows PC that meets the published requirements, with the game installed from Steam. The following process stays within the features documented for the current PC release; individual menu labels can change while the game remains in Early Access.

- Confirm the platform. Every player who wants to join the currently documented release needs access to a Windows PC and the Steam version. An Xbox-console copy cannot be substituted because an Xbox edition has not been documented.
- Check the PC requirements. Compare each computer with the minimum specifications in the table below before buying or installing. The listing also requires broadband internet and 1 GB of available storage.
- Install and launch the Steam version. Buy or install R.E.P.O. through Steam on Windows, then start the game from the Steam library.
- Use the game’s online co-op flow. The PC release includes built-in online multiplayer. Create a session or join one using the multiplayer controls presented in your build, then invite or select friends through the available Steam or in-game prompts.
- Keep the party within six players. The documented limit is six people total: one host or player plus up to five friends. A seventh player is outside the published capacity.
- Coordinate with proximity voice chat. The listing identifies proximity voice chat as a co-op feature. Players can communicate while close to one another, which is useful when deciding who carries an item, when to move through an area, and when to retreat.
- Extract valuables together. The co-op loop involves locating and protecting valuables while trying to extract them. Voice communication matters because separating from the group can make coordination and recovery harder.
There is no equivalent Xbox procedure in the current documentation. If a friend owns only an Xbox console, that friend cannot be added to a PC session on the basis of the information currently published.
Minimum Windows PC requirements
These are the minimum requirements published for the Steam/Windows release. They are not Xbox specifications and should not be interpreted as a way to run the game natively on an Xbox console.

Meeting these figures means the computer satisfies the listed minimum, not that every future Early Access build will perform identically. The developer can change graphics, levels, networking and system requirements before version 1.0.
Does R.E.P.O. support Xbox–PC cross-play?
There is no published cross-play specification to rely on. Cross-play normally requires both a console edition and a supported PC-to-console network service; the official information currently establishes neither for R.E.P.O..

That leaves three practical cases:
- PC-only group: Friends using the Windows Steam release can use its documented online co-op, subject to the six-player limit.
- Xbox-only group: There is no documented Xbox version to launch, so an Xbox-only party cannot start a supported session.
- Mixed Xbox and PC group: Do not assume the PC player can invite an Xbox player. No cross-play feature, account-linking method, or console network requirement has been announced.
Descriptions such as “Xbox crossplay,” “play with Xbox friends,” or “Xbox cloud access” would require an official announcement that supplies those details. They are not features you can verify from the current Steam listing.
What Semiwork has said about a console release
Semiwork’s official Q&A says console support is the current plan, but it does not give a launch window. The relevant statement is: “That is the current plan, but we won’t fully dig into it until we are on the homestretch and working on the 1.0 update.”
This answers whether consoles are planned in principle; it does not confirm Xbox specifically, name supported Xbox generations, promise cross-play, or establish a release date. It also does not say whether a future console edition will launch simultaneously with version 1.0, remain in Early Access, or share saves and progression with Steam.

Until Semiwork publishes those details, treat console availability as a development intention rather than a product you can buy or install.

Why the answer may change
The Steam page labels R.E.P.O. Early Access and says the developers expect roughly a year and a half of Early Access. The described build contains four levels, 29 enemies, plus items, weapons and upgrades. Those figures describe the listed Early Access state, not a permanent final-content guarantee.
Early Access development can alter the game’s content, networking and supported platforms. A later announcement could add Xbox support or revise co-op behavior, but the present information does not establish when that will happen. Check the latest announcement from Semiwork and the current store listing before making a purchase based on a future console plan.
If you own an Xbox and want to play now
Use a qualifying Windows PC
The only currently documented way to play is to use the Steam/Windows version on a PC that meets the listed minimums. This is a separate PC purchase and setup, not an Xbox workaround or an Xbox edition.

Waiting is the appropriate choice if playing on an Xbox console is essential. An announcement should identify the Xbox generation, release timing, purchase method and multiplayer capabilities before you assume your friends can join.

Do not treat general streaming or remote-play claims as official support
The documented requirements and features apply to the Windows Steam release. They do not establish native Xbox support, Xbox Cloud Gaming availability, or a supported console-streaming route. Avoid paying for hardware or services on the assumption that one of those options is endorsed for R.E.P.O..

Player count
The published capacity is up to six players total. Plan a party as one player plus no more than five friends. The listing does not document a separate player limit for individual levels or a split between host and guests beyond that total.
Online connection
Online co-op and broadband internet are part of the documented PC experience. The listing does not publish a minimum upload speed, latency target, server-region list or a console subscription requirement, so those details should not be guessed.
Voice communication
Proximity voice chat is built in. It is designed for nearby teammates rather than a permanently global conversation, making positioning part of communication. If someone moves away from the group, the rest of the team may need to regroup before coordinating the next extraction attempt.

Shared objective
The co-op play loop centers on finding valuables and getting them out safely. Carrying items, choosing when to advance and protecting a teammate are group decisions; the voice system supports those decisions but does not remove the risks of separating or losing equipment.
Troubleshooting when a PC co-op session does not work
A friend cannot join
- Confirm that both players are using the Windows Steam release rather than expecting an Xbox-console connection.
- Check that the session has not reached the six-player total.
- Verify that the game is installed and updated on each PC through Steam.
- Make sure both players have a working broadband connection, which is listed as a requirement.
The official material does not specify particular router ports, NAT settings, server regions or error-code fixes. If a problem persists after checking platform, player count, installation and connectivity, use the current support guidance supplied by the developer rather than applying an unverified Xbox networking fix.
The game runs poorly or will not start
- Compare the PC with Windows 10, Core i5-6600, 8 GB RAM, GTX 970, DirectX 10 and 1 GB free storage.
- Remember that these are minimum requirements for the PC release, not guaranteed performance targets.
- Leave additional free disk space if the Early Access build requires an update; the listing’s 1 GB figure is the stated available-space minimum, not a promise that future patches will never need more.
An Xbox friend asks for an invite
Explain that the current official release is on Windows through Steam and that Xbox–PC cross-play has not been announced. There is no supported invite path to provide until an Xbox edition and its multiplayer rules are published.
What to verify if Xbox support is announced
A future console announcement should answer more than “Xbox is coming.” Before buying or planning a party, verify each item below:
- Exact Xbox models supported, such as Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.
- The console release date and whether the game is still Early Access.
- Whether the Xbox version is sold separately, included with a subscription, or offered through another entitlement.
- Maximum players on Xbox and whether the six-player PC limit remains the same.
- Cross-play with Steam/Windows players and the account system required to enable it.
- Whether progress, unlocks and saves transfer between Xbox and PC.
- How proximity voice chat behaves on console and whether any platform privacy settings affect it.
- Any Xbox online multiplayer subscription requirement.
- Whether the Xbox build contains the same levels, enemies, items, weapons and upgrades as the PC build.
These are the details needed to answer “Can Xbox and PC players play together?” accurately. None is currently established by the published PC listing or the console-planning statement.
Bottom line for Xbox players
There is no documented Xbox-console version of R.E.P.O. to play today. The available co-op experience is the Windows Steam release, which supports online groups of up to six players and includes proximity voice chat. Semiwork has said console support is planned in principle, but has not announced an Xbox date, cross-play, Game Pass availability or save transfer. If you want to play now, use a Windows PC that meets the listed minimum requirements; otherwise, wait for a detailed official console announcement.
