No Man’s Sky has an announced native iPhone and iPad release, and Hello Games says it will support controllers as well as redesigned touch controls. The release date differs between the developer’s announcement and Apple’s US App Store listing, so check the listing near launch. Once the app is available and your iPhone meets its requirements, download it, pair a compatible controller using its maker’s iPhone instructions, and start the game.
Check whether your iPhone can run the game
Apple’s US App Store listing specifies iOS 26.0 or later and an A12 Bionic or later iPhone, and names iPhone XS and newer. Hello Games’ announcement instead highlights iPhone 11 and newer. Since those descriptions do not state the minimum model in the same way, check your exact iPhone on the live App Store listing before downloading; requirements and availability may differ by region.
Hello Games says the iOS download is under 4GB. Check the App Store’s displayed download size when the game becomes available, since that is the current figure for your device and storefront.

Install the iOS version and connect a controller
- Check the live listing: Open the App Store and search for No Man’s Sky. Confirm the release status, regional availability, iOS requirement, and compatibility for your exact iPhone.
- Download the native app: When it is available, install No Man’s Sky from the App Store. The developer describes a free beginning followed by a one-time unlock for the full game; Apple’s US listing showed the unlock at $19.99 when checked. Price and availability can change and may vary by region.
- Pair your controller: Follow the controller maker’s instructions for connecting that controller to an iPhone, whether by Bluetooth or a supported wired connection. The game announcement confirms controller support but does not name a required model or provide an in-game pairing sequence.
- Launch the game: Start No Man’s Sky and use the connected controller. If you would rather play without a physical controller, Hello Games says the mobile version also has redesigned touch controls.
Xbox documents Bluetooth and wired connections for compatible mobile devices. Xbox and PlayStation controllers are among the controller families it identifies for Xbox mobile gaming; NVIDIA lists Xbox, DualSense/DualShock 4, and MFi Bluetooth controllers for GeForce NOW on iPhone and iPad. These are platform compatibility references, not tests of every controller with the native No Man’s Sky app. Check compatibility for your particular controller and iPhone.

Which controller should you use?
The announcement does not require a particular controller model. If you already own a compatible pad, start by checking its iPhone connection instructions rather than buying another one. When choosing a controller, consider how it connects, whether it fits your phone if it has an integrated grip, and whether it works with your iPhone and iOS version. A separate controller is optional: touch controls are also supported.
Release date and purchase details
Hello Games announced October 28, 2026, for the iOS release, while Apple’s US App Store listing showed “Expected Oct 29, 2026.” The sources differ by one day. Treat the live App Store listing as the best check for current availability, and verify it close to launch. Apple’s US listing described a free beginning followed by a one-time full-game unlock and listed that unlock at $19.99 at the time checked; regional prices and availability may differ or change.

Can you play it through cloud gaming instead?
Xbox Cloud Gaming and NVIDIA GeForce NOW can stream games to iPhone in general, but the available information does not confirm No Man’s Sky in either service’s current catalog. Do not assume that either is a way to play this specific game. Catalog access can depend on region, plan, platform, and whether the game is supported.

For GeForce NOW on iPhone, NVIDIA specifies iOS 15.4 or later, Safari access, and a gamepad for gameplay, and recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Those are streaming-service requirements, not the requirements for the native No Man’s Sky app: Apple’s US listing gives iOS 26.0 or later and an A12 Bionic or later iPhone for the native release.
