How to start a two-player local race

- Connect the second controller. Pair or plug in the controller through the platform’s normal system process before launching the race. The listings establish support for two local players but do not specify a controller model, adapter, or accessory requirement.
- Start Moto X. Launch the game and wait for its main menu to appear.
- Open the local or two-player option. Select the menu item that refers to two players, local multiplayer, or split screen. If the game first opens a one-player mode, return to the main menu and look for the multiplayer choice instead of assuming that a second controller has not been detected.
- Assign both players. Use the on-screen prompt for each controller. The exact confirmation button is not documented in the platform copy, so use the prompt displayed by your version.
- Choose the available race settings. Pick the track, motorcycle, and skill setting offered by the game. The listings name 250cc, 550cc, and 750cc motorcycles, three skill levels, five tracks plus a bonus level per level, and power-ups.
- Start the race. The game places the two riders in the same local session and shows the action in split-screen or shared split-screen format, depending on the platform presentation.

Nintendo Switch
Switch is the only listing that explicitly describes all three display arrangements: TV, tabletop, and handheld. Two players can use one system in local multiplayer, with the screen divided for the race. For tabletop play, position the console so both riders can see it clearly; for TV play, connect the console to the television before launching. The listing does not state whether a particular Joy-Con arrangement, Pro Controller, or third-party pad is required, so use any controller configuration the system recognizes and the game accepts.

Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
The Xbox entry identifies local multiplayer for two players and describes shared or split-screen play. It names Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and the same listing also references PC and handheld availability. Those platform references do not amount to a promise that a player on one device can join a player on another. Treat the local two-player mode as a same-system feature unless an updated store description explicitly adds network support.
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
The PlayStation listing covers digital versions for PS4 and PS5 and specifies one to two players, two-player split screen, and up to two players in local multiplayer. A PS4 or PS5 owner should therefore prepare both controllers on the same console, launch the game, and select the local or two-player entry shown in the menu. No PlayStation network mode is stated for this title.
What “local multiplayer” means in Moto X
Local multiplayer means both riders use the same console or computer and view the race on one display. In split-screen play, each rider receives a portion of the screen while the race continues simultaneously. It is not the same as two consoles connected over the internet, and it does not imply that a friend can join remotely through a platform invitation.

The official descriptions do not explain whether every motorcycle, skill level, track, or power-up is available immediately in multiplayer. Select only the choices that your copy presents as unlocked or selectable.
Is Moto X online multiplayer?
There is no officially documented online multiplayer method for this Ratalaika release as of October 18, 2026. The Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation pages list local multiplayer and split-screen or shared-screen play, but they do not list online matchmaking, private rooms, friend invitations, internet play, LAN support, or cross-play.
That absence matters when planning a session. A platform may have a general remote-play or streaming feature, but the game’s store description does not promise that such a feature will carry a two-player session to another person. You should not buy the game expecting a built-in way to invite a friend who owns a separate console or a different platform.
If a later patch or store revision adds network play, verify the change in the current listing or in the game’s own update notes before relying on it. The feature set documented at release supports same-system local racing only.

How to play when your friend is not in the same room
The documented game mode requires both players to use one system. If your friend is elsewhere, the official information does not provide a remote lobby, matchmaking queue, LAN procedure, or cross-platform route that can be followed. The reliable option described by the listings is to meet at the same Switch, Xbox, PC/handheld entry where applicable, or PlayStation system and use the local split-screen mode.
Do not substitute the Meta Quest MotoX listing as a workaround. Its advertised multiplayer belongs to another product and cannot be used as evidence that Ratalaika’s Moto X accepts online players.

The second player cannot join
- Confirm that a second controller is paired with the same system before entering the race.
- Check that the controller is recognized by the platform’s system interface, not merely powered on.
- Return to the game’s main menu and reopen the local or two-player option; some games only check for additional input at that point.
- Look for an on-screen prompt asking the second player to press a button, then follow the button shown for your platform.
The game starts in one-player mode
Exit the current event and select the menu entry explicitly referring to two players, local multiplayer, or split screen. The official store pages confirm that the mode exists but do not publish its exact label, so menu names can differ between platform builds or language settings.

The split screen is difficult to see
Use the largest available display and place both players directly in front of it. On Switch, TV and tabletop modes provide larger shared viewing options than handheld play; the listing confirms all three modes but does not specify a minimum screen size.

A friend expects online invitations
Explain that the official listings do not document online invitations, private rooms, matchmaking, LAN, or cross-play. A second controller and the same physical system are the supported arrangement described for multiplayer.
Which version should two local players choose?
Choose based on where you want to play rather than on different multiplayer rules: all three major console listings describe a two-player local ceiling.
