Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled for PS5 on January 26, 2027. Premium Edition owners are scheduled to begin five days earlier, on January 21. The US PlayStation Store lists Standard at $69.99, Deluxe at $99.99, and Premium at $119.99. You need a PlayStation account, a Microsoft account, and a persistent internet connection; PlayStation Plus is an additional requirement for online console multiplayer. Cross-play and cross-save with Xbox and Steam are planned, but the exact PS5 account-linking screens have not yet been documented in official public instructions.
When does Forza Horizon 6 release on PS5?
Playground Games announced the PS5 version on October 8, 2026. Standard and Deluxe editions are scheduled to unlock on January 26, 2027. Premium Edition early access is scheduled to start on January 21, 2027. These dates come from the official announcement and the current US PlayStation Store listing, so check the live store page before buying in case regional availability or timing changes.
The port is being developed by Panic Button in collaboration with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios. It is not a separate spin-off: the announcement describes cross-platform play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions. Community-created material, including EventLab races, Prefabs, Garages, Estates, liveries, and tuning setups, is also described as cross-platform. Your PS5 therefore connects to the same wider Forza Horizon 6 ecosystem rather than a closed PS5-only player pool.

A PS5 disc edition is planned for sale through supporting retailers. The announcement confirms the format but does not establish which retailers will have stock, so do not assume that a particular retailer or marketplace has a listing until it appears in your region.

Which PS5 edition should you buy?
All three editions contain the full game. The differences are the included add-ons and, for Premium, the five-day early-access period. The prices below are the US PlayStation Store prices shown on October 13, 2026; prices, taxes, currencies, and bundle contents can vary by country or change before launch.

Standard Edition: the least expensive way to play
Choose Standard if you only want the core game and are happy to start on January 26. It does not list the Welcome Pack, Car Pass, VIP Membership, or either expansion. Buying Standard does not prevent you from playing the base game; it simply leaves those extras out of the initial bundle.
Deluxe Edition: base game plus the Welcome Pack and Car Pass
Deluxe adds the Welcome Pack and Car Pass while retaining the January 26 release date. It does not list VIP Membership or the two expansions. This is the middle option for players who want the listed car-related extras but do not need the Premium bundle or early access.
Premium Edition: early access and the largest listed bundle
Premium is listed at $119.99 in the US. It includes everything listed for Deluxe, plus VIP Membership, Expansion 1, Expansion 2, the Time Attack Car Pack, and the Italian Passion Car Pack. Premium early access is scheduled for January 21, five days before Standard and Deluxe.
The announcement says Expansion 1 is due on January 21, 2027, while Expansion 2 will arrive later. That means the bundle promises both expansions, but only the first has an announced arrival date. The store listing does not establish the final release date for Expansion 2.

PlayStation pre-orders are described as including a pre-tuned Ferrari J50. The announcement says it is added to your garage after you start the game and complete the prologue. It is not described as an immediate item visible before the prologue, so finish that opening sequence before looking for the car.
What you need before starting on PS5
Prepare the accounts and network access before launch. The store listing states that online features require a PlayStation account, Microsoft-account registration is required to play, and a persistent internet connection is required. Microsoft-account registration is also explicitly required for cross-platform play.
- PlayStation account: use the account that owns the digital purchase or is intended to play the disc version and access online features.
- Microsoft account: have the credentials available before first launch. This account is required to play and is the identity used for the announced Xbox and Steam cross-save and cross-play features.
- Persistent internet: keep the PS5 connected while installing, launching, and playing. The store listing specifies a persistent connection rather than an optional connection only for multiplayer.
- PlayStation Plus: arrange a subscription separately if you intend to use online console multiplayer. The listing says PlayStation Plus is sold separately; owning the game does not include it.
- Correct regional store: verify the edition, currency, taxes, and availability in the PlayStation Store serving your account. The prices in the table are US figures only.
If you pre-order digitally, the store notes that payment is taken immediately. Automatic downloading requires Automatic Login and Auto Sign-In to be enabled on the PS5. Those are store pre-order instructions, not a guarantee that every region or purchase method will use identical billing or download behavior.
How Microsoft account linking and cross-save work
The supported outcome is clear: Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 is announced to support cross-platform play and cross-save with Xbox and Steam. If you already play on one of those platforms, the announced feature is intended to let progress and multiplayer participation span the supported versions.
The exact PS5 linking sequence is not yet confirmed in the public materials available for the launch preparation period. There is no verified instruction for whether the first run uses a QR code, a browser sign-in, a console form, or another prompt. Do not rely on a guide that promises a specific screen, and do not assume that a PlayStation account can be switched between Microsoft accounts or that an account can be unlinked and replaced. Wait for the current official PS5 support instructions before taking an irreversible account action.

What to do if you are bringing an Xbox or Steam save
- Identify the Microsoft account that currently holds your Forza Horizon 6 progress on Xbox or Steam.
- Confirm that you can sign in to that account before January 26, or before January 21 if you are using Premium early access.
- Do not create or select a different Microsoft account simply because it is convenient on the PS5. Cross-save depends on using the account associated with the existing progress.
- At first launch, complete the official account prompt that appears on your console. If the game directs you to a different process, follow the current in-game or support instructions rather than a third-party walkthrough.
Cross-save is officially announced, but the detailed binding rules, account-switching limits, and any one-time selection behavior have not been established. Treat access to the correct Microsoft account as the essential preparation; treat every other linking detail as subject to the final PS5 documentation.
What cross-platform content includes
The announcement specifically describes cross-platform play and cross-save, and also names EventLab races, Prefabs, Garages, Estates, liveries, and tuning setups as cross-platform community content. That does not by itself guarantee that every future item, entitlement, or platform-store purchase transfers identically. Check the final support terms for any content with platform-specific ownership rules.
PS5 setup: a launch-day procedure
Use this sequence for a clean installation without making assumptions about the unpublished linking screens.
- Choose the edition in your regional store. Open the PlayStation Store page for Forza Horizon 6, confirm the edition and price in your account’s currency, and check whether you want the January 21 Premium early-access date or the January 26 Standard/Deluxe date.
- Complete the purchase or insert the disc. For a digital pre-order, remember that the store says payment occurs immediately. For a physical copy, use a PS5 disc from a supporting retailer; availability is not confirmed for every retailer.
- Prepare automatic downloading if you pre-ordered digitally. On the PS5, enable Automatic Login and Auto Sign-In if you want the store’s automatic-download behavior. Leave the console connected to the internet so the download can occur when it becomes available.
- Keep the console online during installation and first launch. The store listing specifies a persistent internet connection. Avoid treating an offline launch as an expected fallback.
- Sign in with the PlayStation account that owns the purchase or is using the disc. Online features require a PlayStation account, so a separate local profile without the entitlement may not be the account you intend to use.
- Have the Microsoft account ready. Microsoft-account registration is required to play. If you want cross-play or cross-save, use the Microsoft account associated with your Xbox or Steam progress.
- Follow the official in-game linking prompt. The exact PS5 flow has not been published, so the prompt may differ from early guides. Do not infer that a QR code, browser hand-off, or unlink option must appear.
- Start the game and complete the prologue. If you pre-ordered and are eligible for the Ferrari J50 incentive, the announcement says it is added to the garage after the prologue is complete.
- Check your intended mode. You can use the base game without PlayStation Plus, but online console multiplayer requires a separate PlayStation Plus subscription according to the store listing. Cross-play also requires Microsoft-account registration.
- Verify imported progress before changing accounts. If a save is missing, stop and confirm the Microsoft account shown by the game before starting substantial new progress. The detailed account-switching rules are not confirmed, so changing identities may not be a simple reversible step.
Do you need PlayStation Plus?
You need PlayStation Plus for online console multiplayer, and the subscription is sold separately from Forza Horizon 6. The game’s persistent internet requirement and Microsoft-account requirement are separate issues: an internet connection is required by the store listing, while PlayStation Plus is the additional service needed for online console multiplayer.
Cross-play does not remove the PS5 subscription requirement. If you plan to race with friends on Xbox, Steam, or another PS5, arrange PlayStation Plus before attempting online console multiplayer and ensure the Microsoft account registration is complete.

The digital store listing supports pre-ordering the announced editions. It states that pre-order payment is immediate and that automatic downloading depends on Automatic Login and Auto Sign-In being enabled on the PS5. Check the order confirmation and the live listing for your region rather than assuming that a US date or bundle applies elsewhere.
The physical route is a PS5 disc sold through supporting retailers. The announcement confirms that a disc will exist, but it does not name a retailer, guarantee stock, or establish an Amazon listing. A disc purchase still requires the account and persistent-connection requirements described by the PlayStation Store listing.

The Microsoft account is not the one with your old save
Stop before creating significant new progress. Sign out only through an officially documented procedure, then verify which Microsoft account held the Xbox or Steam save. Because the PS5-specific binding and unlinking rules are not confirmed, avoid deleting profiles or repeatedly switching accounts based on an unofficial guide.
You expected a QR code or browser sign-in but see another screen
The public materials do not promise a particular linking interface. Use the instructions displayed by the current game build or the official Forza support page at launch. A different prompt is not evidence that cross-save is unavailable; it simply means the actual PS5 flow differs from an early assumption.
Your Premium early access is not available on January 21
Confirm that the purchase is the Premium Edition, that you are using the PlayStation account that owns it, and that the store in your region shows the same access date. Standard and Deluxe are scheduled for January 26, so buying either of those editions does not provide the Premium early-access window.
The Ferrari J50 is missing
Complete the prologue first. The announcement places the car in the garage after that milestone rather than at the instant the game is installed. If it remains absent after the prologue, keep the purchase account and order confirmation available and use the official support channel; do not assume that buying another edition is required.
Online multiplayer will not start
Check all three independent prerequisites: the PS5 is connected to the internet, the Microsoft account registration is complete, and PlayStation Plus is active for the PlayStation account. The store lists the connection requirement and says PlayStation Plus is sold separately, while Microsoft-account registration is required for cross-platform play.
A promised expansion or car pack is not visible
Check the edition you purchased and the announced release timing. Premium lists Expansion 1 and Expansion 2, but Expansion 1 is scheduled for January 21, 2027 and Expansion 2 is listed as arriving later. The presence of a bundle entitlement does not mean every future item is available on day one.
What is confirmed and what remains to be checked
The confirmed launch plan is a January 26, 2027 PS5 release, January 21 Premium early access, three US-listed editions, a required Microsoft account, persistent internet, separate PlayStation Plus for online console multiplayer, and announced cross-play and cross-save with Xbox and Steam. The unresolved part is the detailed account-binding experience: official public material does not yet establish the exact screens or whether accounts can be unlinked or exchanged. Recheck the live PlayStation Store listing and the official Forza support documentation near launch before making a purchase or moving an existing save.
