- Install the demo and launch it. The demo is described as containing the first chapter.
- Look for the local, couch or split-screen choice on the opening screens. The public materials confirm the capability but do not document the final label or the exact screen on which a second player joins.
- Have the second player follow the on-screen join instruction. Do not rely on a specific button, keyboard key or controller model: those input details were not published in the cited announcement and may differ by platform.

Widescreen
Coin Crew Games says players will be able to switch from split-screen to a widescreen view. The developer specifically mentions this option for people affected by motion sickness. Because the announcement does not describe the final interface, treat “widescreen” as a developer-announced view choice rather than assuming it is a particular aspect ratio, camera setting or performance mode.

- Try split-screen first if you want each player to have a clearly separated play area.
- Try widescreen if split-screen movement or the divider is uncomfortable, especially if motion sickness is a concern.
- Change the setting before starting a difficult room so both players know which perspective they are using.
- If the demo does not expose the toggle, wait for the final interface or consult the release notes rather than assuming the feature was removed.
How teamwork is expected to work in the rooms
The developer describes both players entering escape rooms together. That wording indicates a shared cooperative experience rather than two separate single-player campaigns running side by side. Expect to discuss clues, divide your attention and coordinate movement while both players investigate the same overall challenge.
The sequel’s announcement also describes pinging as a way to coordinate across its larger campus. Pinging is presented as a communication aid, not as a documented button instruction. The announcement does not identify the key, button, radial menu or default binding, so use the control prompt shown by your released build and do not assume it matches the original game.

A practical two-player routine
- Agree on a simple verbal plan before splitting up: for example, one player examines symbols while the other checks nearby objects.
- Call out discoveries immediately, including colors, numbers, shapes and the location where you found them.
- Use the in-game ping feature if the released version provides an on-screen prompt, but keep voice communication available as a fallback.
- Before interacting with a suspected puzzle object, tell your partner what you are about to try. This prevents both players from repeating the same action.
- When a puzzle changes state, pause long enough for both players to see the result before moving to another area.
These are cooperative habits, not hidden control requirements. The announcement confirms the shared rooms and the intended coordination feature; it does not publish a complete puzzle walkthrough or a fixed communication scheme.

Platform information is still subject to change before launch. Steam lists Coin Crew Games as developer and iam8bit Presents as publisher, with a planned November 2026 release. These listings do not establish a complete final platform matrix, cross-play policy, save-transfer behavior or identical controls between PC, Xbox and handheld versions. Recheck the store page for the platform you intend to use when the game is released.

The public materials confirm the mode but do not state the final number or type of input devices required. Do not purchase a particular controller or assume that a specific keyboard-and-controller combination is mandatory based on the sequel’s announcement alone. Instead, use this release-day checklist:

Only the released game can answer whether the platform requires two controllers, permits a shared keyboard, supports mixed input devices or asks both players to sign in. Those details were not provided in the pre-release materials.

Choose local play when both people can share one screen and want immediate conversation. Choose online play when the other person is remote. If you are deciding whether to buy before launch, remember that the demo demonstrates only its first chapter, not the full campaign or every multiplayer feature.

Do not copy the original game’s setup instructions
The original Escape Academy also has store pages describing local split-screen co-op. That confirms the series has used couch co-op before, but it does not prove that the sequel has the same menus, button prompts, account rules or input requirements. Treat the original as background context only. Use the sequel’s own demo or released support page for instructions.
Release-day troubleshooting
The second player cannot join
Confirm that you selected local/couch or split-screen rather than online co-op, then read the exact prompt shown on your platform. Check that both inputs are connected and recognized by the operating system or console. If the game still offers no join option, verify that you are running the sequel and not the original, and consult the version-specific support information. There is no published universal join button to substitute for the game’s own prompt.
The screen feels uncomfortable
Open the game’s display or accessibility settings and look for the announced split-screen/widescreen switch. The developer specifically connects the choice with motion-sickness concerns. If the option is absent, check for an update and the final release notes; the pre-release announcement does not provide a menu path.
You expected more than two local players
Plan for two local players. Xbox’s 2–2 label supports that limit, and no cited listing establishes a larger local group. Do not infer a four-player couch mode from the existence of online co-op.

The demo ends sooner than expected
That is consistent with its stated scope: the free Steam demo contains the first chapter rather than the complete campaign. A demo ending after that chapter is not evidence of a failed installation.
Controls differ between platforms
That can occur because the listings cover Windows, Xbox and handheld play without publishing a shared input specification. Follow the prompts and control settings for the edition you installed instead of applying a PC instruction to Xbox or vice versa.

Before publishing or relying on a detailed walkthrough, check the released build for four items that the pre-release materials leave open:
- The exact menu path for starting local co-op and the wording of the second-player join prompt.
- The supported input combinations, including whether two controllers are required and whether mixed devices are accepted.
- The location and behavior of the split-screen/widescreen toggle.
- Platform-specific account, update and online-service requirements, if any.
Those checks matter because the developer has confirmed the feature at a capability level, not published a final, platform-neutral instruction manual. The November 2026 launch build should be treated as the definitive source for button labels and setup screens.
