Demon Bluff is a single-player social-deduction roguelike card game. You investigate a corrupted village by revealing character cards, reading their information and abilities, identifying which characters belong to Evil, and executing the hidden demons. Villagers and Outcasts can help, while Demons and Minions may disguise themselves as helpful roles and feed you false or unusable information.
The safest way to play is to treat every claim as evidence rather than proof. Compare several cards, record contradictions, account for deception, and execute only when the combined information points to an Evil character. The developer’s overview describes a 10-health pool and 5 damage for a mistake, but those numbers may reflect an earlier build; verify them in the current demo or release.
What Demon Bluff is—and what it is not
Demon Bluff is a digital, single-player deduction game from UmiArt, published by offbrand games. Its setting is a village corrupted by hidden demons. You are not hosting a party game, assigning roles to friends, or playing a physical bluffing deck. The characters are cards presented by the game, and the opponent is the game’s concealed information and deception system.
Each village contains characters whose cards can reveal information, provide abilities, or mislead you. Your job is to investigate enough of the village to determine which characters are Evil, then execute those characters. A successful run depends less on guessing a role from one statement than on building a coherent explanation from multiple pieces of evidence.

The core rules at a glance
| Element | How it works | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Objective | Find and slay the demons hidden among the village characters. | This is the central objective described by the official game listing. |
| Character cards | Every character is represented by a card. Cards can reveal information or provide unique abilities. | The available official descriptions do not publish a complete ability list. |
| Helpful side | Villagers and Outcasts can help you investigate. | The descriptions group both as useful cards, not as a complete role catalogue. |
| Evil side | Demons and Minions can pose as Villagers and mislead you. | Evil information may be false, wrong, or nonfunctional. |
| Investigation loop | Reveal cards, use their information, identify Evil characters, and execute them. | This interaction is stated in the developer’s overview. |
| Health and mistakes | The developer’s overview says the player has 10 health and mistakes deal 5 damage. | Those figures may describe an earlier build, so check the current version before relying on them. |
Roles and terminology
Villagers
Villagers are helpful cards. Their information or abilities can narrow the search for demons, expose inconsistencies, or give you another way to evaluate the village. A card’s Villager identity is not automatically trustworthy: Evil characters can disguise themselves as Villagers, so the claimed label must be supported by what the card actually does and how its information fits with other cards.
Outcasts
Outcasts are also described as helpful cards with information or abilities. They belong in your investigation plan alongside Villagers. Do not assume that “Outcast” means a fixed alignment, a particular power, or a universal relationship with another role; the available official material does not provide a current, role-by-role ability chart.
Demons
Demons are the hidden primary targets. Finding and executing them is how you advance the investigation toward a successful outcome. A Demon may be represented as something other than an obvious Evil card, which is why you must evaluate behavior and information instead of relying on the first role name you see.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Minions
Minions are Evil-aligned deceivers. The official descriptions specifically say they may pose as Villagers and mislead you. A Minion can therefore make a false story look plausible or direct your attention toward the wrong execution. Even after you find one suspicious character, continue checking whether the wider set of claims still makes sense.
Good and Evil
The developer’s overview uses “Good” and “Evil” as the broad sides of the conflict. Evil characters bluff as Good roles and may provide information that is false, wrong, or does not function as claimed. These terms describe the alignment logic; they do not, by themselves, document every individual card’s power or win condition.

How a typical investigation works
- Enter the village and identify the available cards. Start by noting every visible character and the role it claims or appears to represent. Do not execute immediately unless the game gives you an unusually strong, cross-checked reason.
- Reveal information deliberately. Use the cards’ available information and abilities. Read the exact result, not merely the card’s title. Record who supplied each fact and whether the result was direct, conditional, unclear, or unavailable.
- Build a first-pass alignment map. Mark cards that currently look helpful, cards whose information conflicts with another card, and cards that have not yet produced useful evidence. “Unconfirmed” is a better label than “Good” at this stage.
- Cross-check independent claims. Compare what several characters reveal about the same person, group, or condition. Agreement is more persuasive when it comes from different cards and does not depend on the same uncertain assumption.
- Test suspicious explanations. If two cards disagree, consider whether one is an Evil disguise, whether an ability has a condition you have not met, or whether the information is simply incomplete. The goal is to find the explanation that accounts for the most observations with the fewest exceptions.
- Choose an execution target. Execute when the evidence points to a specific Evil character, not merely because that character has an unusual name or role claim. If the interface offers a confirmation step, reread the target and any warning before committing.
- Reassess after the execution. Treat the result as new evidence. A correct execution should make the remaining information easier to reconcile; a mistake should change how much confidence you place in earlier claims and may cost health.
How to find the demons
Use a witness chain instead of a single witness
Begin with the information that can be checked against another card. For example, if one character identifies a second card’s alignment, look for another ability or reveal that bears on the same card. A single statement can be a lie, a failed ability, or a misunderstanding of the condition. Two compatible statements from separate sources create a stronger foundation.
Separate the claim from the result
Write down what a card claims it will do and what actually happens. A card that says it can identify a role but returns no usable information is not automatically innocent; the overview explicitly warns that Evil information can be nonfunctional. Conversely, an apparent failure may reflect a requirement you have not satisfied. Keep both possibilities open until another observation resolves them.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Look for contradictions that matter
Not every difference is proof of a Demon. A contradiction becomes valuable when the competing statements cannot both be true under the same assumptions. Prioritize conflicts about alignment, identity, or a concrete event over vague wording. Then ask which card benefits from the confusion: a Minion impersonating a Villager has a reason to create a convenient but fragile story.
Do not equate confidence with alignment
An Evil card that supplies a detailed explanation may be more dangerous than one that says little. Confidence, a familiar role name, or an apparently helpful suggestion is not proof of Good alignment. Judge the information by whether it survives comparison with the rest of the village.
Maintain an evidence ledger
- Card: the character making the statement or using the ability.
- Claim: exactly what it says about another card or the village.
- Observed result: what the interface actually reveals.
- Reliability status: confirmed, supported, contradicted, unresolved, or failed.
- Execution impact: whether this evidence raises or lowers the priority of a target.
This ledger prevents a common deduction error: remembering a conclusion while forgetting which uncertain assumption produced it.

Winning strategies by stage of a run
Early game: maximize information, minimize irreversible actions
At the start, your information base is smallest and a false execution can be especially expensive. Reveal cards that expand your knowledge of several characters or clarify how another ability works. Avoid spending your first action on a target supported only by its own claim. Establish a baseline of which cards have produced observable, usable results before you take a high-risk action.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesMid game: resolve the most important contradiction
Once several cards are known, stop collecting facts indiscriminately. Choose the contradiction that most changes the execution decision. If resolving one conflict would identify two possible targets at once, investigate it before a low-impact detail. This keeps your actions focused and reduces opportunities for deceptive cards to send you down separate false trails.
Late game: demand a coherent explanation
Near the end of a village sequence, ask whether your proposed alignment map explains the information you have seen. A good solution should account for why helpful cards produced usable evidence, why suspicious cards failed or contradicted one another, and which characters remain capable of being the hidden Evil. If your theory requires several exceptions, revisit the earliest unverified assumption rather than forcing the final execution.
After identifying one Evil character
Do not assume the rest of the village is solved. The game includes both Demons and Minions, and a Minion may be helping a Demon by presenting a false Villager identity. Use the first successful identification to improve your model of the village, then continue checking the remaining cards for coordinated deception.
Health, mistakes, and risk management
The developer’s itch.io overview describes a 10-health player pool and 5 damage for a mistake. If those numbers are unchanged, one incorrect execution would remove half of the stated starting health, leaving little room for a second error. Because the overview may reflect an earlier build, verify the current health display and damage behavior in the demo or full game before treating this as a guaranteed rule.

Regardless of the final numbers, the strategic lesson is the same: distinguish reversible investigation from irreversible execution. Spend early actions learning how information works, reserve uncertain executions for situations where alternatives are weaker, and stop relying on a card that has already produced a contradiction until you understand why.
Modes and how they change your approach
The official Steam listing describes several modes. The available description establishes their broad structure but not a complete mode-by-mode ruleset, scoring system, or card pool. Use the distinctions below as planning guidance rather than as undocumented mechanical guarantees.
| Mode | Deck formation | Run structure | Best way to approach it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Randomized village runs | The village is randomized. | A standard village investigation sequence. | Adapt your evidence ledger to the cards you actually draw instead of memorizing a fixed solution. |
| Deckbuilding mode | You draft a deck. | A multipart run using the deck you assembled. | Choose cards that give complementary information, then track how your deck’s composition affects the evidence available in later parts. |
| Endless mode | Not stated in the available listing. | An ongoing format intended to continue beyond a normal run. | Favor consistent, low-risk deductions and preserve health or other resources for later investigations. |
| Challenges | Not stated in the available listing. | A challenge format separate from standard progression. | Read the challenge’s own conditions carefully; do not assume standard village rules or objectives are unchanged. |
The full game listing advertises more than 100 unique character cards. A larger card pool increases variety, but it also makes process more valuable than memorizing a short list of roles. Learn to compare information and verify abilities rather than expecting the same cards in every run.

Common mistakes and how to correct them
Assuming the game is multiplayer
Demon Bluff is described as a single-player experience. Do not look for a lobby, party role assignment, or a group of human bluffers. Your opponent is the hidden alignment and the information system controlled by the game.
Executing the loudest suspect
A dramatic claim is not stronger than a quiet but cross-checked result. Return to the evidence ledger and identify the specific contradiction that implicates the target.
Treating every failed ability as innocence
Evil information may be false, wrong, or nonfunctional. A failure is a data point, not an automatic Good result. Check whether the card had a condition, whether another card explains the failure, and whether the failure benefits a deceptive alignment.
Inventing abilities that the game never showed
The currently available official descriptions do not provide a complete role-by-role ability list. Read the card text in your build and avoid relying on an ability remembered from another run, a different version, or an unofficial guide.
Forcing a theory after contradictory evidence
When your theory needs several exceptions, pause. Reclassify the earliest uncertain claim, test a different witness, and rebuild the alignment map. A revised theory is cheaper than repeatedly executing from a broken assumption.
An illustrative deduction example
Imagine a village in which Card A claims to be a Villager and says Card B is helpful. Card C independently reports that Card B is Evil, while Card D’s ability produces no usable result when checked against Card B. This example does not describe a specific official role combination; it demonstrates a method.
- Record A’s claim and C’s opposing claim separately.
- Check whether A’s ability produced an observable result or merely asserted a role.
- Investigate whether D’s failure has a known condition, because nonfunctioning information can come from an Evil card or from an unmet requirement.
- Prioritize the target whose alignment is supported by the strongest combination of independent observations.
- After any execution, revisit A, C, and D together. A correct result should make the remaining claims more coherent; if it does not, downgrade the assumptions that depended on a deceptive card.
The point is not to memorize this pattern. It is to make each execution the result of a documented chain of evidence rather than a single persuasive statement.
What you need to play
- A supported device capable of running the digital game through its official distribution listing.
- The game or its free demo, depending on whether you want the demo’s 40-plus-card sample or the advertised full-game pool of more than 100 cards.
- No physical role deck, printed manual, special peripheral, or multiplayer group is identified as required by the official descriptions.
- A method for recording claims—paper, notes, or an in-game journal if your build provides one—can make contradictions easier to track, but it is optional.
A practical pre-execution checklist
- Have I seen the target’s claimed role and its actual information separately?
- Does at least one independent card support the target’s alignment?
- Is the evidence a direct result, or only a statement that could be a bluff?
- Could the apparent contradiction be caused by an unmet ability condition?
- Would an Evil card benefit from directing me toward this target?
- What will I learn if the execution is correct, and what will I change if it is wrong?
- Have I checked the current health and damage behavior in this build?
Use the checklist whenever an execution is irreversible or when the available health leaves little room for error. It turns the game’s bluffing premise into a repeatable decision process without assuming undocumented role powers.
