You can play Crazy Taxi on PC if you already own the legacy Steam version, using its keyboard defaults or a configurable Windows-compatible controller. A new PC release, Crazy Taxi: World Tour, is planned for 2027 but is not yet available. Mobile availability could not be confirmed, so check the official app store for your country and device before relying on an install.
Can you play Crazy Taxi on mobile or PC?
It depends on the edition. The original Crazy Taxi first appeared as an arcade game in 1999, according to SEGA. Today, the options supported by the available information are an existing copy of the older PC release, a mobile listing that you must verify in your region, or the upcoming Crazy Taxi: World Tour.
Mobile: check your regional store
Listings for Crazy Taxi Classic have appeared in Apple’s App Store and Google Play, but current installability could not be confirmed. A listing or search result does not establish that the game is available in your country, works with your OS version, or can be reinstalled by a previous purchaser. Search the official store on your device and check its compatibility details before downloading. No reliable current mobile control information is established here.

PC: older Steam edition
Steam’s November 6, 2024 notice said the older Crazy Taxi was among selected SEGA Classics scheduled to be delisted from new purchases on December 6, 2024. The notice says existing owners could continue to download and play the games in their libraries: “These gems will still live in your Steam library.” Read the Steam delisting notice. That makes the legacy Steam edition an option for existing owners, not a dependable route for a new purchase.

PC and consoles: Crazy Taxi: World Tour
SEGA announced Crazy Taxi: World Tour on June 8, 2026, with a planned 2027 release for PC (Steam), Xbox on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Steam currently says the game is not yet available and lists its planned release year as 2027. The timing is a plan, not a confirmed launch date; check Steam’s product page for updates. Its Windows 11 processor, graphics, sound card, and additional requirements are still listed as not yet specified, so there is not enough information to assess PC compatibility yet. SEGA’s announcement describes the game as picking up passengers and racing them to their destinations, rather than as a traditional racing game.
How to play the legacy PC version
The following instructions and defaults come from SEGA’s manual for the legacy PC release, which was part of the Dreamcast Collection. They may differ in another edition or after you change the configuration. The menu includes Arcade, Original, Crazy Box, Records, Save & Load, and Exit.

The manual also documents Windows-compatible controllers with a D-pad and at least seven other assignable buttons. To remap one, launch the Dreamcast Collection program, choose Game Config, select the controller, then select an action and press the button you want to assign. This is guidance for the legacy PC version; it does not confirm support for every modern controller.

Passenger pickup and delivery
- Choose a mode from the game menu.
- Drive to a passenger and stop the cab inside the marked pickup zone.
- Follow the directional arrow to the destination. Deliver the passenger before time runs out and stop inside the green destination zone.
- Earn the base fare based on the destination distance. The manual says crazy driving moves can earn tips, and time remaining at delivery contributes a bonus fare.
Speed matters, but so do reaching the right destination and stopping in its marked zone. The manual’s techniques below use the legacy PC version’s gear-shift controls; they are not verified mobile gestures or World Tour controls.

Crazy Taxi techniques
- Crazy Dash: Release the accelerator and brake, shift to Drive, then accelerate for a burst forward.
- Crazy Drift: While moving forward, shift quickly into Reverse and back to Drive while steering left or right.
- Crazy Back Dash: After a Crazy Dash, shift quickly into Reverse.
- Crazy Back Drift: While driving forward, shift quickly into Drive and back to Reverse while steering left or right.
These are the sequences described in SEGA’s legacy PC manual; timing and results may depend on the game’s control configuration.
