You can try a browser version described by its operator as a fan-made port of the original Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies, but it is not an official Activision release—and the available information does not establish that it has passed an independent security audit. Use a desktop browser, verify the site address, and do not enter your Activision login or payment details. For the official PC game, Steam lists the installed release with solo and co-op Zombies: Call of Duty: Black Ops on Steam.
What the browser version is—and is not
The fan guide at Zombies Browser describes a browser-playable port of Black Ops (2010) Zombies and says its Black Ops 1 link opens at vel.gg. The guide says it does not host Black Ops files. This is a description from the fan guide, not independent confirmation of the port’s ownership, code, or security.
That distinction matters: a page running a game in a browser is not necessarily an official game release. The guide explicitly calls the port unofficial; it is not an Activision release. The official PC option is a separate, installed game listed by Steam, not the browser port.

The fan guide’s operating instructions, last verified there on October 10, 2026, specify desktop use with a keyboard and mouse. It lists 64-bit Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, WebGL 2, GPU acceleration, and a 1.5 GiB game heap. It also says the first load of each map downloads several hundred megabytes and that browser storage caches the data.

These are the guide’s stated requirements and download expectations, not independently tested measurements or a guarantee that the port will work on every compatible system. A wired mouse is optional if you need one; the guide does not say a particular mouse is required.
How to approach it more safely
No independent security audit or guarantee of safe play is established by the available sources. That is not evidence that the port is malicious, but it means you should not treat “runs in a browser” or “no download required” as proof that a site is safe.

- Computer mouse for easily navigating a computer interface; click, scroll, and more
- USB-A wired connection; if existing device only supports USB-C, an additional adapter will be required
- High-definition (1000 dpi) optical tracking ensures responsive cursor control for precise tracking and easy text selection
- 3 buttons offer effortless fingertip control
- Plug-and-go ready for instant use
- Check the address before interacting. Confirm that the page is on the domain you intended to visit. If it redirects somewhere unexpected, close it rather than continuing.
- Keep account and payment details private. Do not enter your Activision credentials or payment information on an unofficial game page.
- Do not install extras to make it run. Decline requests to install an executable or browser extension from the play page.
- Stop if the page asks for sensitive information or behaves unexpectedly. You can close the tab without proceeding through an unfamiliar prompt.
Activision Support gives general advice to avoid suspicious sites and offers involving game content: “Do not trust any suspicious websites or offers for in-game items such as COD Points, cosmetic items, add-ons, or other digital content.” Activision warns that such services may violate its Terms of Use, compromise an account, or expose personal information. This is general guidance about suspicious offers and services—not a specific finding about vel.gg or the browser port. Activision Support’s scam-site guidance.
Browser port vs. official and cloud options
| Option | Access and device | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Browser port described by Zombies Browser | Desktop browser; the guide specifies keyboard and mouse, 64-bit Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, WebGL 2, and GPU acceleration. | The guide calls it an unofficial fan port. Its safety has not been independently audited in the available information. Source |
| Call of Duty: Black Ops on Steam | Installed PC game. | Steam lists Treyarch as developer, Activision as publisher, and Zombies for solo or co-op play. This is the official storefront listing, not browser play. Price and availability may vary. Source |
| Call of Duty on Xbox Cloud Gaming | Cloud access subject to the eligibility and game-purchase conditions stated on Xbox’s page. | The current page describes a catalog that includes current games such as Black Ops 7 and Warzone; it does not establish that the original Black Ops Zombies is available there. Are the old mobile editions a current option?
Activision Blizzard announced iOS and Android editions of Black Ops Zombies in 2011 and 2012. Those historical announcements do not verify that either edition is currently available to download, so they are not a dependable present-day recommendation. 2011 iOS announcement; 2012 Android announcement.
