You can play the full version of Battlefield 6 free on Steam and PlayStation during EA’s October 2026 trial, including every available mode, event, Battlefield Portal and the Season 5 “Siege of Vegas” content. Steam’s community announcement extended its access window to Tuesday, October 20 at 17:00 UTC, while EA’s purchase page lists the original PlayStation and Steam deadlines as October 19. Because EA says times can change, check the live store listing before beginning a long session.
What the free Battlefield 6 trial includes
This is a full-game access event, not merely a trial of the free-to-play REDSEC mode. EA Help says the promotion provides access to all Battlefield 6 game modes, events and Battlefield Portal on the participating platforms.

The trial also covers Season 5, titled “Siege of Vegas.” Its featured locations include the neon-lit Vegas Strip and the top-secret Area 51. EA’s Season 5 description says every available map and mode is free until October 19, so the Vegas content is part of the event rather than a separately purchased add-on.

These are UTC times, not local times. Convert the cutoff for your region before starting a long match, and recheck the store page because EA warns that trial times may change. The different platform schedules mean that a session available on Steam may still be closed on PlayStation, or vice versa.

How to claim the trial on Steam
- Open the Battlefield 6 page in the Steam Store.
- Select Get Free Edition (or the equivalent free-trial option) and begin the download.
- When prompted, link Steam to an EA account, or sign in to an existing account.
- Launch the game during the active trial window and select the available modes, events or Battlefield Portal.
If Steam shows only REDSEC
REDSEC’s presence does not mean the full-game event is unavailable. Close and restart Steam, return to the main Battlefield 6 store page and start the free-edition download again. Steam’s official community announcement documents this recovery sequence for missing multiplayer tiles and also records the extension to October 20 at 17:00 UTC.
If the free-edition button still does not appear, confirm that you are on the game’s primary store listing rather than a REDSEC-only page, then restart Steam once more before retrying.
How to access the trial on PlayStation
- Open the PlayStation Store and search for the Battlefield 6 free trial.
- Download the trial edition. If REDSEC is already installed, follow the access route shown for that existing client.
- Sign in to or create an EA account and accept EA’s user agreement when prompted.
- Check the current PlayStation Store end time before starting a long session; EA’s listed cutoff is October 19 at 20:00 UTC, subject to change.
Accounts, internet and subscription requirements
- An EA account is required on both platforms.
- A persistent internet connection is required throughout the trial.
- On PC, the EA app may be required in addition to Steam for account linking or launch.
- Console multiplayer may require the platform’s premium online subscription. The exact requirement can depend on the current PlayStation terms and your region, so check the store’s trial listing.
The free edition does not remove those account, connectivity or platform-service requirements.

What you can play in Siege of Vegas
Vegas Strip
The Vegas Strip is one of Season 5’s named locations, bringing the event’s new setting to the game’s available map rotation.
Area 51
Area 51 is the second specifically named Season 5 location. Together with the Vegas Strip, it forms the central “Siege of Vegas” setting.
Land, air and sea combat
EA’s Season 5 page says the free event covers every available map and mode and lets players fight on land, in the air and at sea. The promotion therefore includes the broad combined-arms experience rather than a single restricted playlist.

How to keep playing after the event
After the promotional window, continued access requires either purchasing the full game or using an eligible subscription. Xbox Wire reports that Battlefield 6 is on EA Play’s “The Play List” through Xbox Cloud Gaming, Xbox PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate. Game Pass Ultimate members receive unlimited access under the current platform and regional terms. Availability and conditions can change, so verify the subscription listing for your account and country.
If you plan to buy the game, use the same EA account you used for the trial so account-linked progress and entitlements are handled consistently. The trial itself does not guarantee a discount or a permanent license.
