Godlike.Host offers hosted Arma Reforger servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
To play Arma Reforger with friends, open Multiplayer, have everyone select the same server listing and game mode, and make sure the server accepts every platform in your group. Crossplay can connect PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5 players when the server enables it. For an occasional private session, a PC player can use Multiplayer > Host tab > Host new server. For a persistent private world that remains available when nobody is acting as host, use a dedicated server configured for cross-platform play.
Choose the right way to play together
There are three practical arrangements for a group:
- Join an existing server: the quickest option. Everyone uses the Multiplayer browser and selects the same official or community server.
- Host a player-run server: a PC player starts a server from the Host tab. This suits a small group that plays occasionally, but the host’s computer and network must stay available during the session.
- Run a dedicated server: the server runs independently of any player’s game session. It is the better fit for a regular group or a private world that should remain available when the usual host is offline.
Bohemia Interactive describes Arma Reforger as “best played with others,” but friends will only see the same choices when their filters, versions, platform permissions and add-ons line up. Decide which arrangement you want before troubleshooting invitations; a missing server and a failed mod download have different fixes.
Can PC, Xbox and PS5 play Arma Reforger together?
Yes. PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5 players can play on the same server when that server is configured to allow cross-platform play. A dedicated server can use the crossPlatform=true setting, while a player-hosted session also needs crossplay configured before console friends attempt to join.

Crossplay is a server capability, not a guarantee that every listing will be visible to every player. A server can restrict platforms, and each player’s browser can hide listings through filters. If a PC player can see a server but an Xbox or PS5 player cannot, first compare the server’s platform permissions and each person’s crossplay setting rather than assuming the platforms are incompatible.
Join the same official or community server
This is the simplest method when you do not need a private instance.

- Agree on one listing. Before searching, choose a precise server name and game mode, such as Conflict or Game Master. Everyone should select that same listing, not merely a server with a similar name.
- Align crossplay. If the group includes PC, Xbox and PS5, confirm that the selected server accepts all required platforms and that crossplay is enabled for the session.
- Match browser filters. Use the same region, ping limit, platform and other browser filters. Different filters can produce different result lists even when everyone is looking at the same time.
- Wait for required content. If the listing uses Workshop content, allow every required mod to download and activate before joining. A player who starts joining while content is still downloading may fail to enter or be returned to the browser.
- Join and confirm the same instance. After loading, check that everyone is in the same server and game mode. Selecting a second listing with a nearly identical name creates separate sessions.
Official servers are useful for diagnosing a group problem because they remove many community-mod variables. If all friends can join an official or unmodded community server but not one particular listing, focus on that server’s configuration or Workshop requirements.
How to invite friends
The universal method is to agree on the server listing and have each friend select it through the Multiplayer browser. This works across PC and consoles when the server accepts the relevant platforms and the browser filters match.
For a PC-hosted session, Bohemia’s hosting guidance says friends can find the server in the multiplayer list or accept an invite through Steam. Console players should use the Multiplayer listing unless the host’s platform-specific invitation flow is available to them; the documented cross-platform requirement remains that the server must be configured to accept their platform.

An invitation does not bypass a version, mod or platform mismatch. If an invited player cannot load in, check those prerequisites before sending another invitation.

Player hosting is PC-only. A PC player can host while console friends join, provided crossplay is enabled and the hosted server accepts those platforms. The exact route is:
- From the main menu, open Multiplayer.
- Select the Host tab.
- Choose Host new server.
- Configure the session so cross-platform players are permitted when Xbox or PS5 friends are joining.
- Tell friends the server name, then have them locate it in the Multiplayer browser. On PC, they may also accept the host’s Steam invite.
- Keep the host’s game, PC and network available for the duration of the session.
This approach is convenient for a small, occasional group because no separate server deployment is required. Its limitation is availability: when the host closes the game, loses connectivity or shuts down the PC, the player-hosted session is no longer available. Internet visibility can also depend on router configuration; Bohemia’s technical documentation notes that router port forwarding may be required for a hosted server to be reachable.
For a genuinely private group, use the privacy and access controls exposed by the host configuration. The documented hosting instructions do not specify one universal password workflow, so do not assume that every host has identical password options. Share the exact server name and any access details configured by the host.
Use a dedicated server for a persistent group
A dedicated server runs without a player acting as the active host. Bohemia provides dedicated-server tools, and hosting can be set up locally or obtained through a third-party provider. This arrangement is appropriate when:

- your group plays on a regular schedule;
- the world should remain available when the usual host is offline;
- you want server configuration separated from an individual player’s game session; or
- you need a stable home for a recurring mod set.
Configure the dedicated server for every platform your group uses, or enable the documented crossPlatform=true setting for cross-platform play. Friends still join through Multiplayer; a dedicated server does not remove the need for compatible versions, enabled add-ons and suitable browser filters.
A dedicated setup requires more administration than pressing Host new server. You must keep the server software available, apply compatible updates, manage Workshop requirements and handle firewall or router rules. In return, the group is not tied to one player’s uptime or connection.
Workshop mods and compatibility
The Workshop supplies community missions and other add-ons. A community server may require specific mods, and every friend must have compatible content enabled. The safest sequence is to identify the server’s required Workshop content, let the game finish downloading it, activate the content, and only then join.
Mod compatibility is a group-wide requirement. One player having a newer, older or incomplete add-on can prevent that player from joining even when the server itself is visible. Console mod storage and performance limits can also differ from PC, so a mod set that works for a PC-only group may not be suitable for a mixed-platform group.
When diagnosing a failure, try an official or unmodded community server. If everyone can join that test server, the original listing’s required mods or configuration are the likely cause. If the test also fails, investigate platform permissions, filters, game versions and network visibility instead.

Why a friend cannot see or join your server
Work through these checks in order. Change one variable at a time so you can tell which mismatch was responsible.
Different browser filters
Friends may receive different search results because of filters for region, ping, platform, crossplay or other listing properties. Compare the active filters on every system. Remove an unnecessarily narrow ping or region limit, then refresh the Multiplayer list.
The server does not accept the friend’s platform
A PC player hosting for Xbox or PS5 must configure crossplay. A dedicated server must allow all required platforms or use crossPlatform=true. If the server intentionally restricts platforms, a player on the excluded platform will not be able to join regardless of invitations.
Different game branch or version
Confirm that everyone is on the same release branch and game version. A client on a different branch may fail to see the server, be rejected during connection or become incompatible with its mods. Bring every player and the server to the same supported release before attempting another join.
Required Workshop content is missing
Check the server’s required add-ons on each machine. Let downloads finish and verify that the content is active. If a console player cannot accommodate the same mod set as the PC group, test an official or unmodded server to separate a platform-capacity issue from a general connection issue.

The listing is visible but the connection fails
First retry after confirming version and mods. Then test an official or unmodded community server. If that test also fails, inspect firewall and router restrictions. For a player-hosted server, the host may need router port forwarding according to the technical documentation. A server that is not reachable from outside the host’s network can remain invisible or fail at connection even when the host sees it locally.

A player-hosted game depends on the PC host. If the host closes the game, loses internet access or powers down the computer, friends cannot reconnect to that session. Start a new hosted session or move the group to a dedicated server when continuous availability is important.
A reliable setup checklist for your group
- Choose one server method: existing listing, PC player host or dedicated server.
- Write down the exact server name and intended game mode, such as Conflict or Game Master.
- Confirm whether the group includes PC, Xbox, PS5 or a mixture.
- For a mixed group, verify that the server allows crossplay; on a dedicated server, check the
crossPlatform=truesetting or equivalent platform configuration. - Have every player use matching browser filters, especially region, ping and platform-related filters.
- Confirm that everyone is on the same release branch and game version.
- Install, finish downloading and activate every required Workshop mod before joining.
- Use an official or unmodded server as a diagnostic test if a modded listing fails.
- For PC hosting, keep the host’s PC and internet connection available and investigate firewall or router restrictions if friends cannot see the listing.
- Move to a dedicated server when the group needs a persistent world that does not depend on one player’s online status.
Which option should you choose?
Choose an existing official or community server when speed and minimal administration matter more than privacy. Choose Host new server when one PC player is available to run a short private session and can handle any required network configuration. Choose a dedicated server when the group plays regularly, needs a stable mod collection or wants the world available while the usual host is away.
The deciding factor for cross-platform groups is always server configuration: PC, Xbox and PS5 can play together, but only when the selected server permits it and every player meets the same version, filter and Workshop requirements.
