ARC Raiders supports cross-platform social play between PlayStation, Xbox and PC. From the lobby, open Social, add another player with their Embark ID, then use the + icon above the play widget to invite them to your party. You can also invite someone from Social > Recent without sending a friend request first.
The party should be assembled before anyone starts a round. Crossplay is controlled at the party level: the member with the most restrictive crossplay setting determines the queue used by everyone. If a mixed-platform squad cannot find a match, check that setting and set the matchmaking server to Automatic.
What you need before adding your squad
You do not need a separate friend-setup product or accessory for this process. The relevant controls are built into ARC Raiders’ lobby and Social menu. Each person should be able to reach the lobby and know the exact Embark ID of anyone they want to add.

- A supported game platform: The official ARC Raiders site describes social play across PlayStation, Xbox and PC. The current platform listings include Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and GeForce NOW.
- An Embark ID: Friend requests are addressed to this identifier rather than to a console-only username.
- Access to the lobby: Friend and party controls are available from the lobby’s Social menu and play widget.
- Matching crossplay settings: A party’s queue follows the most restrictive member’s crossplay choice.
Embark’s support FAQ specifically names crossplay between Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The broader site wording includes PlayStation, Xbox and PC, so treat the named platform list as the clearest statement for that support article and do not assume that every storefront or cloud option has identical account or matchmaking behavior without checking the current in-game flow.

Does ARC Raiders have crossplay?
Yes. The official ARC Raiders site says, “ARC Raiders supports seamless social play across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.” That statement establishes cross-platform social play rather than a platform-exclusive friends list.

There are no separate “crossplay modes” to select when creating a squad. Instead, each member’s crossplay setting affects how the completed party is placed into matchmaking. That makes the order of operations important: add or invite everyone, check the relevant setting, and only then start a round.
Add a friend with an Embark ID
Use this route when the other player is not already in your Friends list or Recent list. The support page describing the procedure was last updated on October 27, 2025.
- From the lobby, select Social in the bottom-right corner.
- Open the Friends tab.
- Select Add Friend in the upper-right of the menu.
- Enter the other player’s Embark ID exactly as provided, then select Add Friend.
- Tell the other player to check for the request and accept it. The request does not place them on your Friends list until they accept.
Ask the other player to read their Embark ID directly from the game rather than relying on a platform gamertag or display name. Similar-looking names can point to different accounts, while the Embark ID is the identifier used by this menu.

What happens after the request is sent
The recipient receives a friend request. Until it is accepted, you should not treat the request as a completed connection. If you need to play immediately and you shared a recent round, use the Recent workflow instead; it does not require waiting for a friend request to be accepted.
Invite friends to a party before a raid
Adding someone as a friend and putting them in your active squad are separate actions. After the friend request has been accepted, form the party from the lobby.
- In the lobby, locate the play widget.
- Select the circular icon with a + above that widget.
- Choose the friend you want to invite. The same picker can include a recent player.
- Wait for the invitation to be accepted. Once accepted, the player appears in your party.
- Confirm that everyone who should raid with you is in the party before starting the round.
Embark’s instructions explicitly say to add players to the party before starting a round. Inviting someone to your Friends list alone does not automatically place that person in the current party.
Friend list versus party membership
The Friends tab answers “who can I contact again?” The plus icon above the play widget answers “who is joining this match?” You may complete both actions for a regular teammate, but only the party invitation changes who queues with you now.

Invite a recent teammate without friending first
If you just finished a round with someone and did not exchange Embark IDs, the Recent list is the quickest way to reconnect. This is also useful when you want to test a squad together before sending a permanent friend request.
- Select Social at the bottom-right of the lobby.
- Open the Recent tab.
- Select the player from a recent round.
- Choose Invite to Party.
- Have the player accept the invitation. They then join the active party.
The Recent entry also offers a way to send a friend request after the round. Use that option if you want the player to remain available in your Friends list; it is not required for the immediate party invite.

How party crossplay settings affect matchmaking
ARC Raiders does not simply use the setting of the player who created the party. Embark says that the most restrictive party member’s crossplay setting controls the party’s crossplay queue.

Before you press play
- Ask every member whether crossplay is enabled or disabled.
- If the squad wants the broadest cross-platform pool, make sure nobody has disabled crossplay.
- If one member intentionally keeps crossplay off, expect the entire party to use the restricted queue.
- Change the setting before matchmaking rather than troubleshooting an apparently stalled queue afterward.
Embark’s matchmaking guidance notes that enabling crossplay can help when matchmaking feels slow. It does not promise a particular wait time, and the setting should still reflect the group’s preferences.
Set the matchmaking server to Automatic
A mismatched or overly specific server choice can make it harder for friends to queue together. Embark’s support instructions, last updated February 27, 2026, use different menu entry points on PC and console but end at the same server control.
On PC
- Open the gear icon.
- Select Gameplay.
- Open Server.
- Set the server selection to Automatic.
On console
- Open Social from the lobby.
- Select the gear icon on the left side of the Social screen.
- Choose Gameplay.
- Open Server and set it to Automatic.
After changing the server option, return to the lobby and try the party queue again. The Automatic choice allows the game to select a matchmaking server rather than holding the party to a manually selected region.
Troubleshoot a squad that cannot queue together
The friend request cannot be found
- Verify that the Embark ID was entered exactly. Ask the other player to copy it from their account view rather than spelling it from memory.
- Check that the recipient has accepted the request. A sent request is not the same as an accepted friendship.
- If you recently played together, bypass the request and use Social > Recent followed by Invite to Party.
The friend is listed but does not join the squad
- Use the plus icon above the play widget; opening the Friends list alone does not send a party invite.
- Select the intended player from the picker and wait for acceptance.
- Ask the player to return to the lobby if they are still inside another screen or round, then send the invitation again.
Matchmaking is slow after everyone joins
- Check every party member’s crossplay choice. The most restrictive setting governs the queue.
- If the group wants cross-platform matchmaking, enable crossplay for the member who has it disabled.
- Set the server to Automatic. On PC use gear > Gameplay > Server; on console use Social > left-side gear > Gameplay > Server.
- Return to the lobby and queue again after the settings are aligned.
These steps address the two causes identified in Embark’s matchmaking guidance: a restricted crossplay pool and a server selection that is not using Automatic. They do not establish a guaranteed queue time or indicate that a specific platform is experiencing an outage.

One member can play alone but not with the group
Compare the solo player’s crossplay setting with the party’s setting first. A solo queue can use a broader pool than a party whose member has crossplay disabled. Then compare server selections and move the affected player to Automatic. If the issue remains, disband and recreate the party so each person receives a fresh invitation from the lobby.
The Recent player has disappeared
Recent is intended for players from recent rounds, not as a permanent directory. If the player no longer appears, use the Add Friend route with their Embark ID when you can obtain it. Once accepted, the player can be invited from Friends in future sessions.
A practical workflow for different squad situations
Friends on different platforms who have never played together
- Exchange Embark IDs rather than platform-only names.
- Each player opens Social > Friends > Add Friend and sends the request to the intended account.
- Recipients accept the requests.
- The host uses the plus icon above the play widget to invite the accepted friends.
- Everyone checks crossplay, then the host starts the round.
A teammate from the last round
- Open Social > Recent.
- Select the teammate and choose Invite to Party.
- After they accept, decide whether to send a friend request from the same Recent entry.
- Check the party’s crossplay setting before queuing.
A mixed group with a slow queue
- Pause matchmaking and identify whether any member has crossplay disabled.
- Enable crossplay for that member if everyone agrees to use the broader pool.
- Set the server to Automatic using the PC or console path.
- Queue again with the complete party.
What the current platform information does—and does not—promise
The official homepage’s “PlayStation, Xbox, and PC” wording is broad. Embark’s support FAQ is narrower and explicitly names Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for crossplay. The platform page also lists Epic Games Store and GeForce NOW, but the supplied support statement does not spell out every storefront-to-console pairing or cloud-account detail.

Accordingly, a player should use the in-game Social and party controls as the practical test. If another player can be found by Embark ID, invited from Friends or Recent, and accepted into the party, the social connection is functioning. Matchmaking then follows the party’s crossplay setting and server selection. Do not infer a separate queue, special mode or additional hardware requirement from the existence of a platform listing alone.

Keep the squad setup current
ARC Raiders is a live-service game, so menu labels and settings can change after a patch. The Friends & parties support article was last updated October 27, 2025, and the Matchmaking Troubleshooting article was last updated February 27, 2026. If a future update moves a control, look for the same functions—Embark ID friend requests, Recent-player invitations, the party plus icon and the Gameplay > Server setting—rather than assuming that a missing label means crossplay has been removed.
For the current flow, the reliable sequence is: connect accounts with Embark IDs when necessary, invite from the lobby, use Recent for immediate reconnection, align the party’s crossplay choice, set the server to Automatic when troubleshooting, and only then start matchmaking.
