Among Us Story: On Guard is a single-player investigation adventure, not a standard multiplayer match. You play Guard, a security officer in a MIRA Research & Development crewmate-training simulation. Your core routine is to complete tasks, explore the ship, collect clues, investigate murders, decide which crewmates are trustworthy, and identify the Impostor or Impostors.
The title’s launch status, price, and final platform support are not established by the official information available through October 13, 2026. The steps below explain the confirmed gameplay structure and how to check access without assuming that an announced plan has become a release.
What kind of game is Among Us Story: On Guard?
On Guard is a narrative game set in the Among Us universe. Instead of joining a live social-deduction lobby, you play alone as Guard and work through a shipwide security investigation. Innersloth describes the setting as a MIRA Research & Development crewmate-training simulation.

How to play: the confirmed gameplay loop
Use this sequence as your practical guide. It reflects the activities Innersloth has publicly described; it does not add unverified puzzle solutions or scene-by-scene choices.
- Start a single-player story session. Select the game from its available PC or console listing once a current release is confirmed. The official information reviewed does not establish a final menu layout, difficulty selector, save system, or accessibility options.
- Take the role of Guard. Guard is responsible for shipwide security inside the MIRA training simulation. Your objective is broader than completing a checklist: your duties help move the investigation forward.
- Complete assigned tasks. Innersloth says tasks advance the mission and help reveal clues. Treat routine work as part of progression rather than optional busywork. If the game presents several tasks, finish the available ones before assuming that a suspicious event is a dead end.
- Explore the ship. Move through the areas the story opens to you and pay attention to people, rooms, and events that become available after tasks. The publisher has not published a complete map, route order, or list of interactable objects, so do not rely on a fixed walkthrough.
- Collect and interpret clues. Record what you discover and connect it to the incidents under investigation. A clue should strengthen or weaken a case; suspicion by itself is not proof.
- Investigate the murders. The advertised premise includes examining murders on the ship. Follow the evidence the story gives you instead of treating every unusual crewmate action as confirmation of guilt.
- Decide whom to trust. Your judgments are part of the narrative. Compare statements and discovered evidence, and remember that the story is built around deciding which crewmates can be trusted.
- Identify the Impostor or Impostors. Use the case you have assembled to make the required identification. The official material allows for one or more Impostors, but it does not state how many appear in each chapter or whether the number changes by playthrough.
- Reach an ending. Innersloth advertises three unique endings. The exact conditions for each ending have not been published in the official sources reviewed, so a first playthrough should be treated as an investigation rather than a checklist of known dialogue choices.
How to handle tasks and clues
Tasks are progression, not filler
Because tasks advance the mission and help reveal clues, skipping a task can leave you without information needed for the next investigation beat. When the game gives you a task, complete it before spending too long trying to infer the culprit from atmosphere or character behavior alone.
Build an evidence-based case
Keep separate notes for direct clues, statements, and your own suspicions. A direct discovery is stronger than a guess about someone’s personality. When two clues appear to conflict, revisit the relevant location or conversation if the game allows it rather than deciding immediately that one crewmate is guilty.

Use the investigation to narrow possibilities
Ask three questions of each important discovery: What does it establish? Which crewmates could know or reach it? Does it contradict anything already seen? This method fits the publisher’s emphasis on finding clues and deciding whom to trust without pretending that an undisclosed puzzle has a known answer.
What is known about the three endings?
The publisher advertises three unique endings, making replay or careful decision-making an expected part of the design. However, the official pages reviewed do not provide verified ending requirements, a choice-by-choice flowchart, or a complete walkthrough.
That means any guide claiming the exact final dialogue, optimal accusation order, or guaranteed route should be treated cautiously unless it is based on a released version of the game and identifies the version played. Before launch, those details would be speculation. After launch, they may also change with patches or differ by platform.

Innersloth announced a Steam demo running from June 15 through June 22, 2026. That announced window has ended. The official information reviewed does not say that the demo returned, became permanent, or was replaced by a new trial.

If you are trying to play now, look for a current demo or “Play” button on the live Steam listing rather than searching for the old event window. If the listing is unavailable, consult the publisher’s current game page for a new announcement.

The official sources reviewed leave several practical questions unanswered: the exact launch date, current purchase price, final console support, system requirements, save and replay behavior, puzzle solutions, ending-specific choices, chapter structure, and whether the demo is available again. Those gaps are important when evaluating guides or store claims.

Do not infer a feature from the announcement alone. For example, a planned Switch release does not prove that a Switch build is live, and an advertised three-ending structure does not reveal which decisions lead to each ending. Use a guide tied to a released version only when it identifies the platform and version it covers.
Where to verify access before playing
- Open Innersloth’s current On Guard game page and look for a release statement or platform-specific purchase links.
- Open the live Steam listing and check whether it shows a release date, purchase option, or playable demo.
- If you are using a Nintendo Switch or Switch 2, search the relevant official store for an actual product page rather than relying on the June 2026 announcement.
- Compare the store’s region, edition, and price with your intended platform before completing a purchase.
When none of those pages confirms access, the safest conclusion is that availability remains unconfirmed rather than that the game is definitely unavailable.
