In Disney Dreamlight Valley’s limited-time Rescue Mission, the five odd decorations are already positioned in Oogie Boogie’s Mirror Lair. You do not move them in Build Mode: enter the lair, interact with each glowing green object on the first floor, then follow the investigation chain through Zero, the diary, lava-pit fishing, Goofy’s flower, Dream Shards, and two bug sprays.
This walkthrough identifies every decoration by a nearby landmark and gives the exact order for the rest of the quest. Rescue Mission unlocked on October 14, 2026, and the quest database lists November 4, 2026 as its end date; because it is time-limited, check the in-game event timer if you are playing after that window.
What you need before entering the Mirror Lair
Rescue Mission is not available from a new save immediately. Complete the following prerequisites first:

- The Ghost in the Portrait
- Unlock Zero as a companion
After those requirements are met, open the quest letter delivered to a mailbox. The letter directs you to Oogie Boogie’s Mirror Lair, which you enter through the glowing green mirror inside Scrooge McDuck’s shop. If the mirror is not present, confirm that the letter was opened and that every prerequisite quest is complete rather than merely accepted.

All five odd decorations: locations at a glance
Each target is a green version of an otherwise familiar lair decoration. They glow and look deliberately out of place. Every required object is on the first floor, so you do not need to search upper platforms or redesign the room.

Walk close to each item until the interaction prompt appears, then interact once. The game records the object immediately; there is no placement grid, rotation control, or arrangement puzzle.
How to find and inspect each decoration
1. Green polar bear on the left couch
From the entrance, move toward the left corner and look for the stairs that climb toward Oogie’s wheel. At the foot of those stairs is a couch. The green polar bear sits on that couch. It can blend into the lair’s dark, green-lit scenery, so use the couch and stair base as your fixed reference instead of scanning every prop.

Approach the bear from either side of the couch and activate the prompt. If no prompt appears, circle the front edge of the couch; the interaction point can be partially hidden when you approach from the stairs.
2. Green hanging potted plant beside the staircase
Stay on the left side and inspect the space beside and slightly behind the staircase. The second target is a hanging potted plant with the same unnatural green glow as the bear. It is not one of the ordinary plants elsewhere in the lair.

Move along the stair rail and look toward the wall. A narrow angle can place the pot behind the stair geometry, so step around the side rather than jumping or trying to climb. Interact when the plant highlights.
3. Green wall lantern by the stew counter
Continue along the left wall toward the Snake and Spider Stew counter. Near the counter and the red and purple skeletons, inspect the wall or supporting pillar for a green lantern. This is the third counted object.

Several lights decorate the lair, but only the glowing green lantern in this counter area advances the objective. Stand close to the pillar until the interaction label names the object; decorative lights farther from the skeletons do not count.
4. Green potion bottles behind the lava pit
Face the large lava pit in the center of the room and look across it toward the counter with the cash register. The green potion bottles sit on that counter, behind the pit from the entrance side.
You do not need to fish or cross the lava to inspect them during this step. Walk around the safe edge of the pit to the register counter and interact with the bottles. If the counter is crowded by other props, use the cash register as the landmark and check its surface rather than the floor.

5. Green pedestal in the right corner
For the final decoration, cross to the right-hand corner of the first floor. Look near a couch and the crafting station for a green pedestal. Its isolated corner position makes it easier to miss if you remain on the left side of the room.
Interact with the pedestal. Once all five objects have been inspected, the decoration objective completes and the next instruction directs you to confront Oogie Boogie about the Ghosties.
What to do after all five objects are counted
- Talk to Oogie Boogie inside the Mirror Lair. This conversation advances the investigation.
- Leave the lair and speak with Merlin.
- Open the Wardrobe, choose Companion, then select Notable Companion and equip Zero.
- Return through the green mirror to Oogie Boogie’s Mirror Lair.
- Talk to Oogie Boogie again. Keeping him occupied allows Zero to search the room.
- After Zero drops it, pick up the Oogie Boogie Diary on the first floor/downstairs.
The diary objective does not appear until Zero is equipped. If you return to the lair without Zero active, Oogie’s conversation may occur but the search sequence will not start.
Complete the investigation after finding the diary
Catch the two items in the central lava pit
The central lava pit functions as a fishing area during this quest. Equip the Royal Fishing Rod and cast at the ripple spots in the lava. You need exactly one Lava Core and one Skeleton Fish.
Ripple locations can shift between casts, so walk around the pit’s edge until a visible fishing circle appears. Cast directly into the ripple, complete the normal fishing prompt, and repeat until both quest items have been added. The required fish are tied to the ripple spots; ordinary catches do not satisfy the two named objectives.

Collect Goofy’s fragrant flower
Speak with Goofy after the lava-pit objectives are complete. He provides the fragrant, perfectly tended flower requested by the quest. The walkthrough identifies this flower as a Dandelion. Accept it through the dialogue rather than searching every biome for a replacement; the quest uses Goofy’s handoff as the required interaction.
Gather 10 Dream Shards
Collect 10 Dream Shards and keep them in your inventory. The quest checks the quantity when you craft the sprays, so partial progress does not complete this requirement. If you already have Dream Shards, they count toward the total; otherwise gather them through the normal Dreamlight Valley activities that produce shards in your valley.
Craft two Extra Strength Bug Sprays
At any crafting station, open the quest recipe and craft two Extra Strength Bug Sprays. The recipe consumes the quest materials, including the 10 Dream Shards and the items collected in the preceding steps. Crafting only one spray leaves the objective incomplete, even though the first one can already be delivered.
Use the quest recipe rather than a similarly named inventory recipe. If the recipe is missing, verify that you have spoken with Goofy, obtained the Dandelion, caught both lava-pit items, and reached the Dream Shard requirement; those dialogue and collection flags unlock the crafting stage.
Deliver one spray to each helper
- Give one Extra Strength Bug Spray to Merlin.
- Give the second spray to Scrooge McDuck.
Each character accepts one spray. Delivering both to the same character will not satisfy the quest, so use the conversation prompt for Merlin and then the prompt for Scrooge McDuck.

Return to Oogie Boogie for the conclusion
Go back to the Mirror Lair and speak with Oogie Boogie one final time. The conversation completes Rescue Mission after the diary, Lava Core, Skeleton Fish, Dandelion, 10 Dream Shards, and both character deliveries are registered.

Troubleshooting the most common blockers
The objective still says to investigate decorations
Check the five specific green objects rather than ordinary lair furniture. The required set is the polar bear, hanging plant, wall lantern, potion bottles, and pedestal. Confirm each interaction prompt appears; walking near an item without activating it does not count.
An item seems invisible or unreachable
Use the associated landmark to reset your position: the bear is on the left couch at the stair base, the plant is beside or behind that staircase, the lantern is by the stew counter and skeletons, the bottles are at the register counter beyond the lava pit, and the pedestal is in the right corner by the couch and crafting station. Move around the object until the prompt appears instead of attempting to place it manually.
Zero is present but the diary objective will not start
Having Zero unlocked is different from having Zero equipped. Open Wardrobe → Companion → Notable Companion, select Zero, and make sure the companion is active before returning to the lair and speaking with Oogie Boogie.
The diary is found but fishing does not progress
Equip the Royal Fishing Rod and target the animated ripple spots in the central lava pit. The two required catches are a Lava Core and a Skeleton Fish; fishing elsewhere or catching an unlisted item does not complete those objectives.
The bug-spray recipe or delivery prompt is missing
Confirm that Goofy has handed over the Dandelion, both lava items are in your inventory, and you have 10 Dream Shards. Then use a crafting station to make two sprays, not one. Deliver them separately to Merlin and Scrooge McDuck before returning to Oogie Boogie.
The event has ended
Rescue Mission is a limited-time quest. The listed availability runs through November 4, 2026, following its October 14, 2026 unlock. If the event window has passed in your region or game version, the green mirror, letter, or quest may no longer be available; rely on the in-game event status rather than assuming the quest remains permanently playable.

Fast completion route
- Finish A Halloween Invasion, The Oogie Boogie Contract, and The Ghost in the Portrait; unlock Zero.
- Open the mailbox letter and enter the green mirror in Scrooge McDuck’s shop.
- Inspect the five green decorations in a single first-floor sweep: left couch, left staircase, stew-counter wall, register counter, then right-corner pedestal.
- Speak with Oogie Boogie, leave for Merlin, equip Zero, and return.
- Distract Oogie, collect the Oogie Boogie Diary, and fish the central lava ripples for one Lava Core and one Skeleton Fish.
- Talk to Goofy for the Dandelion and secure 10 Dream Shards.
- Craft two Extra Strength Bug Sprays, give one to Merlin and one to Scrooge McDuck, then report back to Oogie Boogie.
