To pair Sony WH-CH730N headphones, keep the headset and source device within about 1 m (3.2 ft), charge the headset, then select WH-CH730N series in the source device’s Bluetooth menu. When pairing a second or later device, hold the headphones’ power button for about 5 seconds or more until the indicator flashes blue twice repeatedly and the voice guidance says “Pairing.” If a passkey is requested, enter 0000.
First-time pairing starts automatically when you turn on the headphones. Pairing mode ends after 5 minutes if no connection is completed, so restart the process if the headset disappears before you finish.
What you need before pairing
Bluetooth pairing registers the headphones with a phone, computer or television so the two devices can connect wirelessly later. Sony describes the registration process as “pairing.” Before opening Bluetooth settings, check these conditions:
- Keep the WH-CH730N and the source device within about 1 m (3.2 ft) during setup.
- Make sure the headphones have enough charge to remain on during pairing.
- Move away from a previously connected phone, tablet or computer, or turn Bluetooth off on that device. The headset may reconnect to it automatically instead of appearing for a new connection.
- Use the regular entry named WH-CH730N series. If an entry called LE_WH-CH730N series also appears, do not select the LE entry for normal audio pairing.
The first device you pair after purchase uses automatic pairing mode when the headphones are switched on. For every second or later device, you must start pairing mode manually.

How do I put Sony WH-CH730N in pairing mode?
First device after purchase
- Charge the headphones and place them within about 1 m of the phone, computer or TV.
- Turn on the WH-CH730N. Pairing mode starts automatically for the first device.
- Open the source device’s Bluetooth settings and select WH-CH730N series.
- Enter 0000 if the source asks for a passkey.
Second or later device
- Turn on the headphones.
- Press and hold the power button for about 5 seconds or more.
- Release the button when the indicator flashes blue twice repeatedly and the voice guidance announces “Pairing.”
- Open Bluetooth settings on the new source and choose WH-CH730N series.
Pairing mode is temporary. Sony says it is canceled after 5 minutes if pairing has not finished. If the five-minute window closes, repeat the power-button procedure.
Pair WH-CH730N with an iPhone
- Unlock the iPhone.
- Open Settings > Bluetooth.
- Turn Bluetooth on if it is off.
- Wait for WH-CH730N series to appear under the available devices.
- Tap WH-CH730N series.
- Type 0000 if iOS requests a passcode.
- Wait for the connection notification before playing audio.
If the name does not appear, put the headphones back into manual pairing mode by holding the power button for about 5 seconds or more. Keep the iPhone close to the headset and check that another nearby device has not already reconnected to it.
Pair WH-CH730N with an Android phone
- Unlock the Android phone.
- Open Settings > Device connection > Bluetooth. Android manufacturers and versions may use slightly different labels.
- Turn Bluetooth on.
- Choose WH-CH730N series from the available-device list.
- If both WH-CH730N series and LE_WH-CH730N series are listed, select the entry without “LE.”
- Complete any confirmation prompt and wait for the connected status.
The regular WH-CH730N series entry is the one to use for ordinary headphone audio. Selecting the LE listing can prevent the expected music connection.
Pair WH-CH730N with a Windows 11 laptop
- Put the headphones into pairing mode. For a second or later device, hold the power button for about 5 seconds or more until “Pairing” is announced.
- On the laptop, open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Add device > Bluetooth.
- Choose WH-CH730N series when it appears.
- Enter 0000 if Windows requests a passkey.
- Wait for Windows to report that the headphones are connected, then select them as the output device in the application or Windows sound controls if necessary.
The laptop must have Bluetooth support suitable for music playback. Sony identifies the A2DP profile as the requirement for music. Calling applications need a calling profile such as HFP or HSP; a laptop that lacks the appropriate Bluetooth support may not provide the expected music or call functions.

Pair WH-CH730N with a Bluetooth TV
Check the TV’s Bluetooth capability
The television must support Bluetooth audio output, not merely Bluetooth for a remote control, keyboard or other accessory. If the TV has no Bluetooth-audio option, the headphones cannot be paired directly through its built-in menus.
Use the TV’s device list
- Put the WH-CH730N into pairing mode. If it is not the first device, hold the power button for about 5 seconds or more until the voice guidance says “Pairing.”
- Open the TV’s Bluetooth settings or Bluetooth-audio device list.
- Choose WH-CH730N series.
- Wait for the TV to confirm the connection and test the audio.
TV menu names and Bluetooth availability vary by model. Sony’s TV help documentation advises consulting the television’s manual when the Bluetooth-audio setting is missing. A TV that lacks Bluetooth audio would require a compatible external Bluetooth audio transmitter, but compatibility depends on the television and transmitter.
Which connection path should you use?

Phones and Windows 11 provide the explicit menu paths above. Television menus are model-dependent, so the TV manual is the authoritative guide when labels differ.

The passkey is 0000. Enter those four zeros if the phone, laptop or television asks for a passcode during pairing. Many devices will not ask for one, so do not enter it unless a prompt appears.

Why won’t my WH-CH730N show up on Bluetooth?
1. Pairing mode was never started
Turning on the headphones starts pairing automatically only for the first device after purchase. For a second or later device, press and hold the power button for about 5 seconds or more until the indicator repeatedly flashes blue twice and “Pairing” is announced.
2. The five-minute window expired
Sony says pairing mode ends after 5 minutes without a completed connection. Start pairing mode again, then keep the source device’s Bluetooth screen open while you select the headset.
3. Another nearby device captured the connection
The headphones may reconnect automatically to the last-connected phone, tablet or computer. Turn Bluetooth off on that device or switch it off temporarily, then repeat pairing on the intended source.

Bring both devices within about 1 m (3.2 ft) and make sure the headphones are charged. Distance and a low battery can prevent the headset from appearing reliably.

5. The wrong Bluetooth entry was selected
When a phone lists both names, choose WH-CH730N series, not LE_WH-CH730N series. The regular entry is the one intended for normal audio pairing.
6. An old record is blocking a clean setup
On the source device, remove or forget the existing WH-CH730N series record, then put the headphones into pairing mode and search again. This creates a fresh pairing attempt rather than reusing a damaged or outdated record.
How to retry pairing cleanly
- Turn Bluetooth off on the last-connected nearby device, or move that device away.
- On the device you want to use, delete or forget the existing WH-CH730N pairing record if one is present.
- Keep the headset and source within about 1 m and confirm the headset is charged.
- Turn on the headphones.
- For a second or later source, hold the power button for about 5 seconds or more until “Pairing” is announced and the blue indicator flashes twice repeatedly.
- Open the source’s Bluetooth menu and select WH-CH730N series.
- Enter 0000 only if requested.
- Finish the connection within 5 minutes.
How many devices can the WH-CH730N remember?
Sony says the headset can store pairing information for up to eight devices. Pairing a ninth device overwrites the record with the oldest connection date and time. If an older device stops reconnecting after you add several new ones, it may have been displaced by this limit.

Pairing versus reconnecting
Pairing a new source
Pairing creates a new registration between the headphones and a phone, computer or TV. Use manual pairing mode—the approximately five-second power-button hold—whenever the source is not already stored.
Reconnecting a stored source
A source that has already been paired can often reconnect when the headphones are turned on and Bluetooth is enabled. If the headset connects to the wrong nearby device, disable Bluetooth on that device first. If automatic reconnection fails, open the source’s Bluetooth list and select the saved WH-CH730N entry.

- Headphones and source within about 1 m (3.2 ft).
- Power button held for about 5 seconds for a second or later device.
