Razer wireless earbuds connect in one of two ways: Bluetooth, or Razer HyperSpeed 2.4 GHz through the USB-C dongle supplied with certain models. Identify the exact Hammerhead model first, because pairing gestures, reset controls, console support and mode switching differ by generation. Use Bluetooth for a Windows PC, phone or other compatible host; use the matching HyperSpeed dongle for console audio on PlayStation and Xbox models that include one.
Identify the connection your earbuds support
Look at the name printed on the case, packaging or Razer Audio app before starting. The name matters more than the word “Hammerhead”: an original Hammerhead True Wireless pair uses Bluetooth gestures, while Hammerhead HyperSpeed models add a model-specific 2.4 GHz USB-C dongle.
Do not assume that every Razer earbud works with every console or that a USB-C plug makes dongles interchangeable. The radio, firmware and console target are tied to the exact model. Write down the full model name and model number before you remove an old Bluetooth entry or begin a reset.
| Model | Wireless paths | Console and host notes | Mode behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hammerhead True Wireless (original) | Bluetooth | Pairs with Bluetooth-capable PCs, phones and other compatible hosts. | Opening the case enters pairing mode the first time. For a new device later, tap and hold both earbuds for four seconds until the pairing cue. |
| Hammerhead HyperSpeed for PlayStation | HyperSpeed 2.4 GHz through the supplied USB-C dongle; Bluetooth for compatible Bluetooth hosts | Use the dongle for wireless audio on compatible PlayStation consoles. | Bluetooth and dongle operation are separate connection paths; use the model controls when changing hosts. |
| Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox (RZ12-038202) | HyperSpeed 2.4 GHz dongle and Bluetooth 5.2 | Razer lists Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, plus PS5/PS4, PC/Mac and Bluetooth phones, tablets and handhelds. | The dongle can take priority over Bluetooth when it is plugged in. |
| Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed for Xbox (RZ12-0562x) | HyperSpeed 2.4 GHz dongle and Bluetooth 5.3 | Supports PC, Xbox, PlayStation 5, Android and iOS/iPadOS. | Xbox and PC modes switch automatically when connected; to switch manually, put the earbuds in the case and press the case button twice. |
If your model is not listed, use its model-specific manual for the touch gesture and reset sequence. Do not assume that a gesture for one Hammerhead generation applies to another. In particular, a four-second hold is the original True Wireless pairing action, while the four-tap-and-hold recovery action is documented for a HyperSpeed Xbox procedure.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Pair Razer earbuds with a Windows PC over Bluetooth
This method requires a Bluetooth-capable computer. A desktop without Bluetooth needs a compatible Bluetooth adapter; a USB HyperSpeed dongle is a different connection and does not add Bluetooth to Windows. If your PC has both radios, decide which path you want before pairing so Windows does not keep selecting a different Razer entry.
- Open Settings in Windows and turn Bluetooth on. If Bluetooth is missing entirely, confirm that the PC has Bluetooth hardware or install a compatible adapter and its driver.
- Choose Bluetooth & devices, select Add device (or Add Bluetooth or other device on older Windows builds), then choose Bluetooth.
- Put the earbuds into pairing mode. With the original Hammerhead True Wireless, opening the charging case enters pairing mode the first time. To pair that model with another device, tap and hold both earbuds for four seconds until you hear the pairing cue. Other generations may use a different gesture.
- Keep the earbuds within one metre of the PC while Windows searches. Select the entry that matches the Razer model name.
- Wait for the “Bluetooth Connected” cue before playing audio. If Windows asks which device to use, choose the Razer earbuds rather than the laptop speakers or another previously paired device.
Pair with the case open and both earbuds awake. If only one side appears, stop the Windows search and synchronize the earbuds using the recovery steps below instead of repeatedly adding partial entries. Repeated attempts can leave several similarly named records in Windows, making the wrong output easy to select.
Make Windows use the earbuds for sound
Connection and playback selection are separate. Open the Windows sound output menu, select the Razer earbuds as the playback device, raise the PC and source-application volume, and check that neither is muted. If the earbuds connect but audio cuts in and out on a laptop, Razer advises checking for updated Intel wireless drivers when the laptop uses Intel wireless hardware.

Test with a local audio or video clip before blaming the pairing. A browser tab, game, communications app or system notification can retain a different output even after Windows reports that the earbuds are connected. Select the Razer output in the app when it provides its own audio-device menu.
Use a HyperSpeed USB-C dongle on a PC
HyperSpeed earbuds normally arrive with a dongle paired to that headset. Insert the supplied dongle into the PC, turn on the earbuds and select the resulting Razer audio output in Windows. The dongle is not interchangeable with a random Bluetooth adapter: it is model-specific 2.4 GHz hardware.
Use this path when you want the low-latency wireless link associated with the HyperSpeed model. Bluetooth pairing and dongle pairing are separate records, so pairing the earbuds to Windows over Bluetooth does not repair a lost dongle association.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
If the headset and dongle no longer recognize each other, run Razer’s Headset Pairing Utility on a PC. Select the exact headset and the matching dongle in the utility, then follow its on-screen pairing steps. Choosing a different model or an unrelated dongle can prevent the utility from completing. Keep the correct dongle available when buying a replacement; a generic USB-C wireless adapter cannot substitute for it.

PlayStation setup with the HyperSpeed for PlayStation model
- Plug the supplied USB-C 2.4 GHz dongle into the PlayStation console.
- Turn on the earbuds and leave them near the console while the dongle establishes its link.
- In the console’s audio-output controls, select the Razer dongle or headset output if it is not selected automatically.
- Start a game or media app and adjust the console’s output volume and chat balance as needed.
The Hammerhead HyperSpeed for PlayStation also supports Bluetooth pairing with compatible Bluetooth hosts, but the supplied dongle is the intended wireless-audio path for the console. If both earbuds are not connected, put them in the charging case, close the lid for about five seconds, reopen it, and try the console connection again.
Keep the dongle attached to the console you normally use, and avoid switching to phone Bluetooth while troubleshooting the console link. If the console sees the dongle but there is no audio, verify that the Razer output is selected in the PlayStation audio settings rather than only checking whether the earbuds power on.
PlayStation compatibility of the Xbox model
Razer lists the Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox (RZ12-038202) as compatible with PS5 and PS4 as well as Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. On PlayStation, use its supplied USB-C dongle for the 2.4 GHz link; Bluetooth remains available for compatible non-console hosts. Confirm the package’s listed console support before purchasing, because a similarly named Hammerhead may target a different platform.
Connect Razer earbuds to Xbox
Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox (RZ12-038202)
- Insert the supplied USB-C HyperSpeed dongle into the Xbox console.
- Power on the earbuds and wait for the dongle connection cue.
- Open the Xbox audio controls and choose the Razer headset output if the console does not select it automatically.
- Test game audio and chat separately, then adjust each level in the Xbox audio controls.
This model uses Bluetooth 5.2 for compatible phones, tablets, handhelds and computers, but the dongle supplies the console link. Razer lists Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One compatibility, along with PC/Mac and PS5/PS4 support.

If you move from Xbox to a phone, remember that the dongle can remain the preferred path. Remove it from the console or use the model’s mode control before expecting phone audio to take over. A phone may still show a saved Bluetooth connection even while the earbuds are actively linked to the dongle.

Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed for Xbox (RZ12-0562x)
The V3 X HyperSpeed for Xbox supports PC, Xbox, PlayStation 5, Android and iOS/iPadOS. It uses Bluetooth 5.3 for compatible Bluetooth devices and a HyperSpeed dongle for the 2.4 GHz connection. When connected to Xbox and PC, it can switch modes automatically. To change modes manually, place both earbuds in the case and press the case button twice.
Use the mode that matches the device you are actively using. If a dongle is plugged in while you are trying to use Bluetooth, the dongle may take priority; remove or disable the dongle, or use the model’s SmartSwitch/mode control to return to Bluetooth.
Pair Razer earbuds with an iPhone or Android phone
- Open the phone’s Settings, turn on Bluetooth, and keep the phone close to the earbuds.
- Enter pairing mode on the earbuds. For the original Hammerhead True Wireless, open the case for first-time pairing; for a new phone later, tap and hold both earbuds for four seconds until the pairing cue. The exact gesture can vary on newer models.
- Tap the Razer model name in the phone’s available-device list and wait for the connected status or audible confirmation.
- Play a short audio clip to verify the phone selected the earbuds for media output rather than its speaker or another Bluetooth device.
Install the Razer Audio app when your model is supported. It is useful for managing supported earbuds, but the initial Bluetooth pairing still begins in the phone’s Bluetooth settings. Keep the app and the phone’s Bluetooth screen pointed at the same model name; selecting an old or duplicate Razer entry can produce a connected status without sound.
For a second phone, first put the earbuds into their model-specific pairing mode again. The phone can retain a saved pairing while another host is active, so a saved entry is not proof that the earbuds are currently available to that phone.
Switch between Bluetooth and the USB dongle
HyperSpeed models can remember both a Bluetooth host and the supplied dongle, but they do not always treat both links equally. Razer describes plugging in the dongle as an intended request to connect to it, so the dongle takes priority over Bluetooth. This explains why a phone may appear paired while audio suddenly moves to a nearby PC or console.
- For Bluetooth audio, disconnect or remove the HyperSpeed dongle and select the earbuds in the phone or computer’s Bluetooth list.
- For console or low-latency PC audio, connect the matching dongle and select its Razer output.
- On the V3 X HyperSpeed for Xbox, let the automatic Xbox/PC mode selection work, or put the earbuds in the case and press the case button twice to switch manually.
When diagnosing a conflict, change one variable at a time: remove the dongle, confirm Bluetooth audio, then reconnect the dongle and verify the 2.4 GHz output. This makes it clear whether the problem is pairing, mode priority or the host’s selected playback device.

Fix common pairing and audio problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Only one earbud connects | The earbuds lost their left-right synchronization or did not wake together. | Put both earbuds in the charging case, close the lid for about five seconds, reopen it and retry pairing. For the HyperSpeed Xbox documentation’s deeper recovery sequence, tap both earbuds four times and hold the final tap for two seconds until both produce the confirmation tone. Use that gesture only on the model covered by that documentation. |
| The phone says the earbuds are connected while they are in the case | The case may not have enough power to charge or disconnect them. | Recharge the case, then place both earbuds inside, close the lid and retry. A blinking-red, low-power case can leave the earbuds appearing connected even when stored. |
| Windows shows connected but there is no sound | Windows is still using another playback device, or the source is muted. | Select the Razer earbuds in the Windows output selector, raise the source and system volume, and remove mute from the app and PC. |
| Laptop Bluetooth audio cuts in and out | Wireless-driver or radio-interference problems can interrupt the link. | Confirm the Razer device remains the selected output. On laptops using Intel wireless hardware, check for updated Intel wireless drivers as Razer recommends. |
| The dongle no longer pairs | The headset-to-dongle association was lost. | On a PC, open Razer’s Headset Pairing Utility, choose the exact headset and matching dongle, and complete the on-screen procedure. |
| Bluetooth stops working after the dongle is connected | HyperSpeed priority has moved the earbuds to the 2.4 GHz link. | Remove the dongle or use the model’s SmartSwitch/mode control to return to Bluetooth, then select the earbuds on the phone or PC. |
| The console cannot find the earbuds over Bluetooth | Many console setups are designed around the supplied HyperSpeed dongle rather than direct Bluetooth. | Connect the model-specific USB-C dongle and select its audio output. Keep Bluetooth for compatible phones, PCs and other hosts. |
| Windows or the phone shows several Razer entries | Earlier incomplete pairing attempts left stale records. | Remove unused Razer entries from the host’s Bluetooth list, put both earbuds into the correct pairing mode and add the exact model name once. |
Power is an easy-to-miss cause. A case that blinks red or cannot charge the earbuds may leave them awake and connected in storage. Recharge the case before repeating resets, and make sure both earbuds are seated in their charging contacts.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →When to reset instead of repeatedly pairing
Reset or resynchronization is appropriate when both earbuds fail to connect together after the case-close procedure, or when the dongle and headset have stopped recognizing each other. Because Hammerhead generations use different touch controls, do not apply a reset sequence from another model’s guide. The four-tap-and-hold recovery sequence belongs to the documented HyperSpeed Xbox procedure; the original Hammerhead True Wireless uses its own four-second hold to enter pairing mode.
After a successful reset or resynchronization, remove the old Razer entry from the host’s Bluetooth device list, put the earbuds back into pairing mode, and add them as a new device. This prevents the phone or PC from reusing a stale Bluetooth record. If a dongle still fails after the utility procedure, verify that it is the matching dongle for that exact headset rather than a replacement from another Hammerhead generation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choosing a model for your devices
| Decision | What to verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Console target | Whether the package includes a PlayStation- or Xbox-oriented HyperSpeed dongle and lists your console generation. | Console audio generally uses the dongle rather than direct Bluetooth. |
| Mobile and computer use | Bluetooth version and the phones, tablets, Macs or PCs listed for the exact model. | Bluetooth determines whether a second device can pair without the dongle. |
| Xbox/PC switching | Whether the model offers automatic switching, such as the V3 X HyperSpeed for Xbox, or requires a manual mode change. | Mode behavior affects how quickly the earbuds move between a console and computer. |
| Recovery support | Availability of the model’s Headset Pairing Utility instructions and documented resynchronization gesture. | A lost dongle association or one-earbud failure is easier to recover when the correct utility and sequence are known. |
| Replacement parts | Availability of a matching dongle, charging case and ear tips for the exact model. | HyperSpeed dongles are model-specific, and a case or accessory for another generation may not solve a connection problem. |
For a dual-console and mobile setup, verify the exact listing and included accessories before buying. Retailer stock, price and package contents can change, so treat the model number and stated compatibility—not a generic “wireless earbuds” label—as the deciding information. The Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox (RZ12-038202) is the direct dual-console option listed here; the newer V3 X HyperSpeed for Xbox adds Bluetooth 5.3 and PC, Xbox, PS5 and mobile support. Confirm current listing details rather than relying on an old bundle description.
Quick pairing checklist
- Read the full model name and model number.
- Choose Bluetooth for a phone or Bluetooth-capable PC, and the matching HyperSpeed dongle for supported console audio.
- Use the model’s own pairing gesture; the original Hammerhead True Wireless uses a four-second hold on both earbuds for a new Bluetooth device.
- Keep Bluetooth pairing within one metre of the computer.
- Select the Razer output after the connection cue; a connected status alone does not guarantee playback.
- Recharge a blinking-red or low-power case before troubleshooting a connection that appears active while the earbuds are stored.
- Use the Headset Pairing Utility only with the exact headset and matching dongle.
- Remove stale Bluetooth entries after a reset, then pair the model once as a fresh device.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I pair Razer Hammerhead earbuds with a PC?
Turn on Bluetooth in Windows, choose Add Bluetooth or other device, put the earbuds into their model-specific pairing mode, keep them within one metre and select the exact Razer model name. Then choose the earbuds as Windows’ playback output; a connected status alone does not change the active speaker.
Can I connect Razer earbuds to a PS5?
Hammerhead HyperSpeed models intended for PlayStation use the supplied USB-C 2.4 GHz dongle for console audio. The Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox is also listed for PS5 and PS4, using its matching dongle. Bluetooth remains for compatible phones, PCs and other hosts.

Can I use Razer earbuds with Xbox and my phone?
Yes, with a model that includes both paths, such as the Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox or V3 X HyperSpeed for Xbox. Use the dongle on Xbox and Bluetooth on the phone. Disconnect the dongle or use the model’s mode control when Bluetooth is being overridden.
Why is only one Razer earbud connecting?
Put both earbuds in the case, close the lid for about five seconds, reopen it and retry. HyperSpeed Xbox documentation also specifies tapping both earbuds four times and holding the last tap for two seconds until both confirm. Use that deeper sequence only for the documented model.
Why do my Razer earbuds show connected but play no sound?
Select the Razer earbuds as the active output on Windows, the phone or the console, then raise both system and source volume and clear mute. If a HyperSpeed dongle is connected, it may have priority over Bluetooth and be receiving the audio instead.
Recommended Free Tools
Why do the earbuds stay connected while they are in the case?
A low-power case may not be charging or disconnecting them. Recharge the case, seat both earbuds inside, close the lid and try again. A blinking-red case is a warning to solve power first.
What should I do if the HyperSpeed dongle stops pairing?
On a PC, open Razer’s Headset Pairing Utility, select the exact headset and its matching dongle, and follow the on-screen steps. A dongle from another Hammerhead generation is not a substitute.
The Bottom Line
Start by identifying the exact Razer Hammerhead model. Pair phones and Bluetooth-capable PCs through Bluetooth, keeping the earbuds within one metre during Windows setup; use the supplied model-specific HyperSpeed dongle for supported PlayStation and Xbox audio. After connection, manually select the Razer output. If one earbud fails, the case shows low power or a dongle loses its link, use the model’s documented recovery sequence, recharge the case and run the Headset Pairing Utility only with the matching hardware.
