Motorola earbuds pair through standard Bluetooth. Open the charging case with both earbuds inside and they should enter pairing mode automatically. If your phone or computer does not show a pairing prompt, hold the case function button for 2 seconds until the LED flashes blue, then choose the visible moto buds entry or the model name shown on your device.
The steps differ slightly between Android, iPhone, Windows 11, and Windows 10. This guide gives the exact menu path for each platform, explains automatic versus manual pairing, and provides an escalation order for earbuds that do not appear or connect.
What you need before pairing
Motorola says its wireless earbuds work with devices that support Bluetooth and audio output. That includes phones, tablets, laptops, Android, iOS, Windows, and other operating systems. The exact Bluetooth name is not universal across every Moto Buds generation, so select the device label your screen actually shows: usually moto buds or a model-specific name.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCompatibility checklist
- A source device with Bluetooth enabled: Android phone or tablet, iPhone or iPad, Windows 11 PC, or Windows 10 PC.
- Both earbuds placed in their charging case.
- The case opened during setup.
- Any protective film removed from the earbuds or charging contacts.
- Enough charge on the source device, earbuds, and case.
If the case battery is low, Motorola’s troubleshooting sequence is to connect it to a charger for at least 30 minutes before trying again. Keep the case open while pairing so the earbuds can enter Bluetooth mode.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
How automatic and manual pairing differ
| Method | What you do | When to use it | Expected indication |
|---|---|---|---|
| Automatic | Put both earbuds in the open case and wait for the device to detect them. | First-time setup or a normal reconnection. | A phone or computer may display a connection prompt. |
| Manual | With the buds in the open case, hold the case function button for 2 seconds. | No pop-up appears, or the earbuds are not listed immediately. | The case LED flashes blue; select the displayed Moto Buds name in Bluetooth settings. |
Opening the case is normally sufficient because the earbuds enter pairing mode automatically. The 2-second button hold is not a different pairing technology; it is the way to force pairing mode when automatic detection does not produce a prompt.
Pair Motorola earbuds with an Android phone or tablet
Android can pair through the Bluetooth settings page or through a system pairing prompt. The labels can vary by manufacturer, but Motorola’s phone guide uses the following path.
Use Android Bluetooth settings
- Place both earbuds in the charging case and open the lid.
- On the Android device, open Settings > Connected devices > Pair new device. You can also swipe down from the top of the screen and touch and hold the Bluetooth control to reach Bluetooth settings.
- Wait for the earbuds to enter pairing mode automatically. If a pairing card appears, tap Connect.
- If no card or device appears, leave the lid open and press and hold the case function button for 2 seconds. Release it when the LED flashes blue.
- Choose moto buds or the model name shown in the available-device list.
- Complete any Android prompts. If Android offers the Moto Buds app, follow the prompt if you want the app’s setup and device-management features.
If Android lists more than one Bluetooth device
Use the entry that matches the visible Moto Buds label or model name. The guides do not establish one universal Bluetooth label for every generation, so do not assume that a name from another Moto Buds model will appear on your phone.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
What successful pairing looks like
The earbuds should appear as a connected Bluetooth audio device. Keep Bluetooth enabled and keep the earbuds within normal range of the phone for later reconnection. If the earbuds do not appear at all, use the troubleshooting sequence below rather than repeatedly tapping random entries.
Connect Moto Buds to an iPhone
iPhone pairing is handled from the Bluetooth page in Settings. The initial case-opening behavior is the same as on Android.
- Put both earbuds in the charging case and open the lid.
- If the iPhone does not show a pairing prompt, hold the case function button for 2 seconds until the LED flashes blue.
- On the iPhone, open Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on.
- Under the available devices list, tap moto buds or the model name displayed by the earbuds.
- Wait for the iPhone to finish the connection process before closing the case or leaving the Bluetooth page.
Because the device name can differ by generation, select the label actually shown on your iPhone rather than looking for a fixed spelling. If no Moto Buds entry appears, follow the battery, protective-film, charging, app, and reset checks in the recovery section.

Pair Motorola earbuds with Windows 11
Windows 11 has two convenient routes to Bluetooth controls: the full Settings page and the Quick Settings area beside the taskbar clock. Use the full page to turn Bluetooth on, then the device list to add the earbuds.
- Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
- Turn Bluetooth on.
- Put both earbuds in the open case. If Windows does not discover them, hold the case function button for 2 seconds until the LED flashes blue.
- Select the Network, Sound, or Battery icon near the taskbar clock.
- Choose Manage Bluetooth devices.
- Under New devices, select the Moto Buds headphones or the model name displayed.
- Accept any Windows confirmation prompt and wait for the status to show that the earbuds are connected.
The quick-settings route is useful after Bluetooth is already on. If the earbuds are not under New devices, return to the open case and 2-second function-button step, then refresh the device list.
Pair Motorola earbuds with Windows 10
Windows 10 uses a different Settings path from Windows 11. Do not look for the Windows 11 Bluetooth & devices page on a Windows 10 installation.

- With both earbuds in the open case, wait for the Moto Buds entry. If it does not appear, hold the case function button for 2 seconds until the LED flashes blue.
- Select the Moto Buds device or the model name shown by Windows.
- Complete any prompts and select Done.
Motorola says a Windows 10 PC will usually reconnect automatically when the earbuds and computer are in range and Bluetooth is enabled. Automatic reconnection is not a substitute for the initial pairing: complete the Add Bluetooth or other device process first.
What to do when Moto Buds do not show up
Use the checks below in order. Start with the simple physical and power checks, then use the Moto Buds app, and only reset the earbuds after those steps fail.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →1. Remove protective film and check charge
- Inspect both earbuds and remove any protective film that could block charging contacts or normal operation.
- Check the battery level of the phone, tablet, iPhone, or computer you are using.
- Check whether both earbuds have charge.
- Make sure the case itself has enough power to enter pairing mode.
A low case can prevent the setup from behaving normally even when the source device has plenty of battery.

2. Charge the case for at least 30 minutes
Connect the Moto Buds case to a charger for a minimum of 30 minutes, then place both earbuds inside and open the lid again. Return to the Bluetooth page for your platform and look for the displayed Moto Buds name.
3. Use the Moto Buds app’s pairing flow
- Open the Moto Buds app on the phone.
- Leave both earbuds in the case and keep the lid open.
- Hold the case action button until the blue light blinks.
- Follow the pairing prompts shown in the app.
This gives the app an opportunity to detect the earbuds when the operating system’s ordinary Bluetooth list has not produced a usable prompt. The blue light confirms that the case has been placed into manual pairing mode.
4. Reset the earbuds only if pairing still fails
A reset removes the current pairing state and requires you to pair again. Use it after checking film, battery, charging time, and the app flow, not as the first response to a missing pop-up.
How to factory-reset Motorola earbuds
- Place both earbuds in the charging case.
- Press and hold the case function button for 12 seconds.
- After the reset completes, open the relevant Bluetooth settings on Android, iPhone, Windows 11, or Windows 10.
- Put the earbuds back into pairing mode if needed by opening the case or holding the function button for 2 seconds until the LED flashes blue.
- Select the visible moto buds entry or model name and complete setup again.
The two button timings have different purposes: 2 seconds places the case into pairing mode, while 12 seconds performs the factory reset. Keep both earbuds in the case for the reset procedure.
Choosing the right recovery step
| Symptom | Best next action | Why |
|---|---|---|
| No pop-up, but the earbuds otherwise appear usable | Hold the case function button for 2 seconds until the LED flashes blue, then select the listed device. | This forces manual Bluetooth discovery. |
| No device appears in the Bluetooth list | Remove protective film, verify charge, and charge the case for at least 30 minutes. | Power or blocked contacts can prevent normal pairing behavior. |
| Normal Bluetooth discovery still fails | Use the Moto Buds app with the buds in the open case and the blue light blinking. | The app provides a separate guided pairing flow. |
| App-assisted pairing still fails | Perform the 12-second factory reset with both buds in the case, then pair again. | The reset clears the existing pairing state. |
After pairing: reconnecting on each platform
Once the initial pairing is complete, keep Bluetooth enabled on the source device and keep the earbuds within range. Windows 10 is specifically described by Motorola as usually reconnecting automatically when both devices are in range. On any platform, if the earbuds do not reconnect, open the device’s Bluetooth settings and select the already-paired Moto Buds entry rather than starting a new reset immediately.
Common mistakes that prevent pairing
- Looking for a fixed product name: different generations may display different labels. Choose moto buds or the model name that your device actually reports.
- Closing the case too soon: keep the lid open while the phone or PC searches.
- Holding the button for the wrong duration: 2 seconds is for manual pairing mode; 12 seconds is the factory-reset procedure.
- Ignoring the case battery: charge it for at least 30 minutes when power is uncertain.
- Resetting before basic checks: first remove protective film, confirm charge, and try the Moto Buds app.
- Using the wrong Windows menu: Windows 11 uses Settings > Bluetooth & devices, while Windows 10 uses Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
Quick reference
| Platform | Bluetooth path | Device selection |
|---|---|---|
| Android | Settings > Connected devices > Pair new device, or touch and hold Bluetooth in Quick Settings | moto buds or the model name shown |
| iPhone | Settings > Bluetooth | moto buds or the model name shown |
| Windows 11 | Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices; then Quick Settings > Manage Bluetooth devices | Moto Buds under New devices |
| Windows 10 | Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth | Moto Buds device, then Done |
The Bottom Line
Open the case to start automatic pairing. If nothing appears, hold the function button for 2 seconds until the LED flashes blue, then select the displayed Moto Buds name. Check film and battery, charge the case for at least 30 minutes, use the Moto Buds app, and reserve the 12-second factory reset for persistent failures.
