“Pairing” can mean two different things here. A magnetic ring, mount, stand, or charger attaches physically; it does not enter Bluetooth pairing just because it contains magnets. A Bluetooth-enabled accessory must be put into its manufacturer’s pairing mode and selected from the phone’s Bluetooth settings.
As of the available OnePlus documentation, model-specific support for a OnePlus 16 magnetic system is not confirmed. There is no verified OnePlus 16 manual, built-in magnet specification, Qi2 support statement, exact-fit magnetic case, or charging behavior to rely on. Do not infer OnePlus 16 compatibility from another phone’s case, charger, or magnetic system. The available OnePlus material does not establish that this model has an integrated magnet array, supports Qi2, accepts a particular magnetic charging accessory, or has an official magnetic case.

How to pair a Bluetooth accessory
Use these steps only if the accessory has Bluetooth. The exact button combination and indicator pattern come from the accessory manufacturer, not from its magnetic attachment system.
- Charge or power the accessory. A low battery can prevent it from entering pairing mode or make it disappear during setup.
- Put the accessory into pairing mode. Use the manufacturer-specified button or switch sequence. A steady light, flashing light, audible tone, or on-screen announcement may indicate discoverability. If the device was previously connected to another phone, disconnect it there or clear its old pairing first.
- Open Bluetooth settings on the OnePlus phone. In current Android builds this is generally under Settings and then Bluetooth or Connected devices. OxygenOS labels can change by version, so use the Settings search field for “Bluetooth” if the wording differs.
- Turn Bluetooth on and wait for the device list to refresh. Keep the accessory close to the phone while it is discoverable. Select the exact device name shown by the manufacturer.
- Confirm any code or permission prompt. Some accessories display a PIN, ask you to confirm a matching number, or request access to contacts, calls, notifications, or location. Grant only permissions required for the function you want.
- Test the intended function. Play audio, press a remote button, move a controller stick, or perform the accessory’s stated test. A device appearing in the list is not the same as a reliable working connection.
OnePlus’s general Bluetooth article recommends checking discoverability and range, removing an old pairing when necessary, resetting network preferences, and installing system updates. Because that article was published in 2020, treat its exact menu path as a general troubleshooting concept rather than a guaranteed current OxygenOS sequence.

If the accessory does not appear
- Return the accessory to its documented pairing mode; normal powered-on mode may make it invisible.
- Move it within a short distance of the phone and temporarily turn off Bluetooth on nearby phones, tablets, or computers that may reconnect to it first.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on from the phone’s settings, then search again.
- Restart both devices if the accessory still does not appear.
- Check the accessory’s manual for a maximum number of remembered devices or a factory-clear pairing command.
If it appears but will not connect
- Open the saved-device entry and choose Forget, Unpair, or the equivalent current label.
- Put the accessory back into pairing mode and select it again.
- Verify that another phone is not still connected to it.
- Install available system and accessory firmware updates, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
- If several Bluetooth devices fail in the same way, use the phone’s network-reset option. This can remove saved Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth pairings, so record passwords and expect to pair accessories again.
When a factory reset is appropriate
A factory reset should not be an opening step for one accessory. It erases personal data and settings and requires a full backup and re-setup. Consider it only after accessory replacement, software updates, forgetting and re-pairing, and a network reset have failed, and only after confirming with OnePlus support that the problem is not a known software issue.

How to attach a physical magnetic accessory
A passive magnetic accessory has no Bluetooth pairing process. The important question is whether the phone or an exact-fit case provides the magnetic interface that the accessory expects.
- Identify the attachment surface. Determine whether the accessory is intended for a built-in magnetic ring, a magnetic case, or an adhesive ring supplied by the accessory maker. Do not assume that a bare OnePlus 16 back has the required magnets.
- Verify the exact model. The case or ring listing should name OnePlus 16 specifically. “Fits OnePlus,” “fits most phones,” or compatibility with OnePlus 15 or OnePlus 13s is insufficient.
- Check whether the accessory is a mount or a charger. A mount only needs stable physical retention. A charger also needs a supported wireless-charging receiver, correct coil alignment, and a documented charging standard.
- Install the case or ring exactly as instructed. Clean and dry the surface if an adhesive ring is permitted, align it using the supplied template, and observe the maker’s curing time before applying weight. Do not place an adhesive product over a textured, wet, dusty, or unsuitable surface.
- Attach the accessory without forcing alignment. Let the magnetic surfaces meet naturally. If the accessory sits off-center, rocks, or slides, stop and check the case, ring orientation, and model specification.
- Perform a low-risk retention test. Test the empty mount or stand first, then increase load gradually while holding the phone over a soft surface. Never begin by exposing the phone to a height, vehicle movement, or heavy accessory before retention is established.
Do not treat a successful physical “snap” as evidence of charging. The phone can be held by magnets while receiving no power, charging slowly, or failing to charge altogether.
Magnetic mounting is not the same as magnetic charging
Magnetic charging systems combine two separate functions: magnets help position the device, while an electrical charging standard and receiver transfer power. A phone may have one function without the other. For the OnePlus 16, the available sources do not confirm a built-in magnet system, Qi2 support, charging alignment behavior, or a supported magnetic charging speed.

What to check before spending money
No OnePlus 16-compatible magnetic item or price is substantiated in the available documentation, so there is no reliable model-specific cost or value comparison yet. Treat any product page as a claim to verify, not as proof. Before ordering, confirm all of the following:

An older OnePlus 11 manual contains a warning about placing the phone near magnetic cards, but that is model-specific guidance and should not be presented as a confirmed OnePlus 16 rule.
