There is no single way to open the back of a Cricket phone: the correct method depends on its exact make and model. Check the model’s guide first, then use only the release point it identifies. For the Cricket Icon 2, the guide specifies a notch at the bottom-left corner. If your phone’s cover resists or its instructions do not describe a removable back, stop rather than prying at a seam.
Identify your phone before opening it
“Cricket phone” can refer to different handsets with different designs. A model may have a removable rear cover, or it may have a sealed back and a SIM tray. Cricket’s SIM card support page advises checking the instructions supplied with the phone to locate its SIM slot. Find the exact model name and match it to its guide before attempting to remove anything.
Do not assume that the release point or method for one Cricket handset applies to another. The Icon 2, Icon, and LG Stylo 3 guides describe model-specific procedures, not a universal way to pry open Cricket phones.

Open the Cricket Icon 2 back cover
The Cricket Icon 2 Quick Start Guide instructs users to “Gently remove the back cover via the notch at the bottom left corner.” Use that notch and lift gently; do not insert a SIM tool at the edge or pry at another seam.

To replace the cover, the same guide says to firmly snap all four corners into place.
What to do on other Cricket phones
Cricket Icon
The Cricket Icon User Guide describes lifting the cover at the bottom-left notch. If removing and reinstalling its battery, align the battery’s gold contacts with the phone’s contacts, then make sure the cover tabs are secure.

LG Stylo 3
The LG Stylo 3 User Guide says to turn off the device before removing the battery. To refit its cover, align it and press it down until it clicks. Follow this procedure only for the Stylo 3; other models may differ.

Use the guide for your exact device to check whether its rear cover is meant to come off and where its release point is. If the guide does not specify a removable cover or the cover will not release with the stated method, stop and consult the manufacturer or Cricket support. Do not force it.

Do not confuse a SIM tray with a removable back
Cricket says most smartphones and Moxee hotspots have a SIM slot behind a back panel and battery, while iPhones and some other phones use a slide-out SIM tray. For a tray, Cricket describes using a SIM-tool tip or paper clip to access the tray. That instruction is for the tray; it is not a method for separating a rear cover.
Before handling a SIM, power the phone off. If your model has a removable battery, follow its own guide for battery removal as well; the Stylo 3 manual specifically requires powering off first.
