To open the large locked door at Beorcan Stronghold, collect both of Beorcan’s Twinned Keys from two underground chests nearby. The first chest is reached through an ice-covered hatch in the chapel-like ruins at the path’s right-hand bend. The second is behind a nearby ruin whose door is locked from the opposite side; its hatch leads through a hallway and up a mushroom-covered ladder to a room behind the main door.
Return to the large door after looting both chests and use the keys. The walkthrough that documents this route describes the stronghold-door challenge as optional if you are pursuing only Dragon’s Dogma 2’s main story. It does not name the contents of the reward room.
What you need to open Beorcan Stronghold’s main door
The solution is not a single key hidden in the stronghold. You must reach two separate underground chests, each containing one of the items identified as Beorcan’s Twinned Keys. Both entrances are close to the locked door and are marked by frozen Beorcans, so use those figures as your primary visual clues.

The available walkthrough calls the items “Beorcan’s Twinned Keys,” but it does not establish whether the game displays two individually named inventory entries or two copies of one item. If your inventory shows only one combined entry, that does not by itself prove that you missed a chest; check both locations and the main door.

Find the first key in the ice-covered hatch
1. Start at the large locked door
Stand at the prominent locked door in Beorcan Stronghold, then turn away from it and follow the path outward. Do not begin by trying to open the smaller nearby ruin. That structure is part of the navigation for the second key, not the first.
2. Watch for the right-hand bend
Continue until the path bends to the right. At that bend, inspect the chapel-like ruins on the left side of the path. The first entrance is not presented as an obvious doorway; search the ground around those ruins for an ice-covered hatch.
3. Use the frozen Beorcan as the marker
A frozen Beorcan indicates the hatch. If you reach the bend but see no opening, move through the chapel-like remains rather than continuing farther along the main path. The frozen figure is the most reliable confirmation that you are searching the correct ruin.

4. Break the ice and descend
Break the ice covering the hatch. Once the opening is clear, climb down the ladder into the underground passage. The route is short: follow it to the chest and loot it to obtain the first Beorcan’s Twinned Key.
If the hatch remains covered, you are probably looking at the wrong section of the ruins or have not located the frozen Beorcan marker. The directions identify the ice-covered hatch as the access point; they do not describe another entrance for this chest.
Find the second key behind the side ruin
1. Return to the area near the main door
After collecting the first key, go back toward the large locked door. Stay in the immediate area and look for a smaller ruin nearby. Its visible door is locked from the opposite side, so it is not the way into the second chest.

2. Circle behind the ruin
Walk around the structure instead of repeatedly interacting with its locked door. Behind it, search beside a low wall for another hatch. A frozen Beorcan marks this second entrance as well.

Break through the ice if necessary, descend, and follow the underground hallway. The walkthrough reports an enemy along this route. The source does not specify the enemy’s type, number, or a required tactic, so deal with it using the approach appropriate to your current party rather than expecting a special puzzle interaction.
4. Identify the mushroom-covered ladder
Continue through the passage until you reach a ladder covered with mushrooms. Climb it. This ladder brings you into the room located behind the stronghold’s main door.

5. Loot the chest in the room
Search the room at the top of the ladder and open its chest. That chest contains the second Beorcan’s Twinned Key. If you have reached the mushroom-covered ladder, you are on the correct route; the ladder is the distinctive confirmation that this is the second underground path rather than the first.
Use both keys on the large door
- Verify that you have looted the chest beneath the chapel-like ruins.
- Verify that you have looted the chest in the room reached by the mushroom-covered ladder.
- Return to the large locked door at Beorcan Stronghold.
- Interact with the door and use Beorcan’s Twinned Keys when the game prompts you.
The route description establishes that both keys are required. It does not establish a separate key for the small ruin whose door is locked from the other side; that door is a landmark for finding the second hatch.

You cannot find the first hatch
- Begin at the large door and follow the path away from it, rather than approaching the ruins from an unrelated direction.
- Wait until the path turns right, then search the chapel-like ruins on the left.
- Look for the frozen Beorcan and the ice covering the hatch. The opening is associated with both landmarks.
- If you are beside the small ruin with the door locked from the other side, you are in the second-key area, not the first-key area.
You keep trying the wrong locked door
The small ruin near the main door has a door locked from the opposite side. The documented route does not require forcing or bypassing that door. Circle behind the structure and search beside the low wall for the hatch marked by a frozen Beorcan.

You found the second hatch but are unsure where to go
After descending, stay in the underground hallway and look for the ladder with mushrooms. The chest is not described as being immediately beside the hatch. The ladder leads to the room behind the large main door, where the second chest is located.
The main door still will not open
- Check both underground chests, not just the one nearest the door.
- Make sure the first chest came from the ice-covered hatch in the chapel-like ruins.
- Make sure the second chest came from the hatch behind the side ruin and was reached by climbing the mushroom-covered ladder.
- Inspect your inventory for Beorcan’s Twinned Keys. The walkthrough does not clarify whether the game shows two separate entries or one item with a quantity, so do not rely on the display format alone.
Is opening Beorcan Stronghold required?
The walkthrough characterizes this locked-door challenge as optional for players who are following only the main story. That means you can leave the area unopened if your immediate goal is simply to advance the central storyline. Players exploring the stronghold or pursuing whatever is inside should collect both keys before moving on.
What is inside the reward room?
The available directions confirm that the two-key route opens access to a reward area, but they do not identify the exact contents. Avoid assuming a particular weapon, armor piece, quest item, or quantity of gold until you can verify it in your own game. The documented fact is the access route: the second chest is in the room behind the main door, and both Twinned Keys are needed to open that door.
