You can open a Binance.US account online or in the mobile app, but you must live in a currently supported U.S. location and complete identity checks before you can use the full trading features. The process has four gates: email and password signup, SMS authentication, Basic Identity Verification using your legal details and SSN or ITIN information, and Advanced Verification with a government ID and facial selfie if you need higher limits or over-the-counter (OTC) trading.
Check your state first, prepare an unexpired government ID and matching residential information, then register at https://www.binance.us/register. Binance.US does not accept PO Boxes, and a mismatch between your account details and documents is one of the most common causes of rejection.
Check whether Binance.US supports your location
Binance.US availability is determined by your actual U.S. residence, not merely by where you are physically browsing. Residents of an unsupported state or territory cannot complete registration and verification. Availability can change, so consult Binance.US’s current supported and unsupported location page immediately before submitting an application.

The published list marks these locations as unsupported: Alaska, American Samoa, Connecticut, Georgia, Guam, Maine, Northern Mariana Islands, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Vermont, and Washington.

Crypto-only locations
Kansas and Wisconsin are identified as crypto-only on the current page. Residents may retain access to some cryptocurrency services, but USD services are unavailable there. That means a person in one of these locations should not assume that completing identity verification will enable ACH deposits, USD withdrawals, or other fiat features.
What to do before creating an account
- Confirm your current residential state or territory against the live Binance.US list.
- Use your real residential address, not a mailing-only address or PO Box.
- Do not try to register with a different state to bypass regional restrictions; the address and identity checks are designed to detect inconsistencies.
What you need before signup
Gather the information and equipment below before you start. Having it ready reduces interruptions during automated checks.
- A working email address that you can open immediately.
- A strong password and a phone capable of receiving SMS messages.
- Confirmation that you are at least 18 and acceptance of the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
- Your legal name, date-of-birth and other requested identity details.
- A valid SSN or ITIN. Basic signup asks for the last four SSN digits, while Binance.US’s identity requirements also specify a valid SSN or ITIN.
- Your current physical residential address. PO Boxes are not accepted.
- For Advanced Verification, an unexpired U.S. government-issued ID and a camera for the facial selfie step.
- If requested later, a complete, legible proof-of-address PDF issued generally within the previous 90 days.
Open an account on the Binance.US website
The web flow is sequential. Do not close the verification screens until each code or confirmation has been accepted.

- Open the registration page. Go to https://www.binance.us/register.
- Enter your email and password. Use an address you control and a password you do not reuse elsewhere.
- Confirm age and terms. Confirm that you are over 18, then accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
- Verify the email. Open the verification message from Binance.US and enter the authentication code shown in it. If it does not appear, check spam or filtering before requesting another message.
- Add your phone number. Enter a number that can receive text messages, request the SMS code, and enter the six-digit code.
- Complete SMS authentication. Binance.US states that SMS authentication is required to finish signup. You can add or select another two-factor method later, but another method does not replace the SMS requirement during initial registration.
- Start Basic Identity Verification. On the Verify Identity screen, enter the last four digits of your SSN, provide the requested personal information, and confirm your current residential address. Never enter a PO Box as your residence.
- Submit and wait for the result. Follow any additional prompts. If the system asks for a document or proof of address, use the matching files described in the document section below.
Use the mobile app or Apple Sign-In
The mobile app follows the same core sequence: authenticate with email or Apple, configure SMS, then complete identity verification. A phone camera can make ID and selfie capture easier, but it does not remove any verification requirement.

Apple Sign-In limitations
Apple Sign-In can automatically satisfy the initial email-confirmation step. It does not bypass SMS setup, biometric consent, or Identity Verification (IDV). You still need to provide the requested identity information and, when required, upload an ID and complete facial verification. The official Apple guide specifies iOS app version 3.48.0 or higher for Apple Sign-In.
When the app is preferable
- Use the app if a desktop browser repeatedly rejects a camera upload.
- Keep the phone steady and use strong, even lighting for ID and selfie captures.
- Make sure the installed app is current, particularly if Apple Sign-In is unavailable.
Understand Basic Verification
Basic Verification establishes your identity and residence using personal information, including SSN or ITIN-related data. The address you submit must be your current physical residence and must match your account information and any later documents.
What Basic Verification enables
Subject to personalized limits and regional availability, Binance.US lists these Basic features:
- ACH USD deposits and withdrawals.
- Buying, selling and converting cryptocurrency.
- Cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals.
- Staking.
- API trading.
Limits are not one universal number. They can vary by user and region, so completing Basic Verification does not guarantee a particular dollar limit.

Why Binance.US asks for SSN or ITIN information
The SSN or ITIN-related fields are part of the identity and eligibility checks for a U.S. exchange account. They allow Binance.US to associate the account with a legal identity and evaluate whether the applicant can use services in the stated location. Enter the information requested in the secure verification form; do not substitute a nickname, another person’s number, or an address that you cannot document.
Complete Advanced Verification when you need more access
Advanced Verification includes the Basic features and adds increased bank-transfer limits and OTC trading. It requires both a valid U.S. government ID and automated facial verification.
- Sign in to Binance.US.
- Open Profile & Limits.
- Choose Advanced Verification.
- Select the government ID type and upload clear images of the requested sides.
- Give biometric consent when prompted and complete the facial selfie sequence.
- Submit the review and respond to any request for additional information.
Advanced status is useful only if you need its additional limits or OTC access. It does not make an unsupported state eligible, and it cannot override a failed identity or address match.

Government IDs Binance.US lists

How to photograph an ID
- Use the original physical document, not a screenshot or cropped photocopy.
- Show every required corner and both sides when the document has information on both sides.
- Keep the text sharp and readable; avoid glare, reflections, shadows and motion blur.
- Use good lighting. Binance.US recommends a dark background for ID photos.
- Make sure the name on the ID exactly matches the name entered on the account.
Provide proof of address if Binance.US requests it
Some applications receive a manual proof-of-address request after the initial checks. The document should be a complete, legible PDF issued generally within the last 90 days and display your full name and residential address.

Examples of documents that may qualify
- A bank or brokerage statement that meets the stated conditions.
- An insurance policy or statement.
- A utility bill.
- A mortgage statement.
Submit the original, complete document rather than a page with the address cropped out. If support sends a secure upload link by email or through its support process, use that link instead of sending identity documents through an unrequested channel.
Make every identity detail match
Automated verification compares the account record, identity document and residence information. Before submitting, check the following:
- Your legal name has the same spelling and order everywhere. Do not shorten a middle name on one record and spell it out on another.
- Your residential address is current and physical. Apartment or unit information should be included where applicable.
- Your document is valid on the submission date and is not expired.
- The image contains the entire document, with no hidden corners, glare or blur.
- The proof-of-address file, if requested, is a complete PDF and generally no more than 90 days old.
How long verification takes
Binance.US’s official instructions do not publish a guaranteed completion time or a population-wide average. Automated checks can finish without a long wait, while an application requiring manual review or an additional address document can take longer. Treat any status shown in your account as more authoritative than a generic estimate.
Do not create duplicate accounts while waiting. A second application can introduce conflicting information and make it harder to determine which submission needs correction.

Troubleshoot a rejected or stalled application
Location error
Recheck the supported-location list using your actual residence. If you live in an unsupported state or territory, there is no document or browser setting that will make the account eligible. Kansas and Wisconsin residents should also verify whether the feature they need is a USD service unavailable in a crypto-only location.
Personal-information mismatch
Compare the spelling of your legal name, date-of-birth details and address character by character with the information on your ID and proof of address. Correct the account data before trying another upload.
ID upload fails
- Retake the image in bright, even light against a dark background.
- Remove glare and keep all corners visible.
- Upload both sides when applicable.
- Check that the document is unexpired.
- Try the mobile app, a different browser, Incognito mode or another device if the desktop upload itself fails.
Selfie or facial verification fails
Use a clean camera lens, face the camera directly and follow the on-screen movement or lighting instructions. Remove anything that obscures your face if the instructions require an unobstructed view. A failed selfie does not mean a different identity document will solve the problem; correct the capture conditions first.
Proof-of-address upload fails
Use the secure link supplied by Binance.US support or email, and submit the complete original document as a legible PDF. Confirm that it shows your full name, residential address and an issue date generally within the previous 90 days.
SMS code does not arrive
Confirm the phone number and country/area information, wait for the current code rather than entering an older one, and check whether your carrier blocks short-code messages. SMS remains required for initial signup even if you plan to add another two-factor method later.
Security steps after verification
Verification proves account identity; it is not a substitute for account security. Keep your password unique, protect access to the email account and phone number used for authentication, and add an additional two-factor method when Binance.US offers it. Never share an SMS code, password or selfie-verification link with someone who contacts you unexpectedly.
When support asks for a document, use only the secure workflow associated with your Binance.US account or an authenticated support message. Check the destination carefully before uploading sensitive records.

- Your state or territory is currently supported, or you understand that Kansas and Wisconsin have crypto-only restrictions.
- You are at least 18 and have accepted the terms.
- You can access the registration email and receive SMS messages.
- Your legal name, SSN or ITIN-related information and residential address are accurate.
- You are using a physical residential address, never a PO Box.
- Your government ID is accepted, valid, unexpired and photographed with every required corner visible.
- Your selfie is captured in good lighting and follows the facial-verification prompts.
- Any proof-of-address PDF is complete, legible, shows your full name and address, and is generally issued within 90 days.
- You are applying through the official Binance.US registration or in-app flow and will not create duplicate accounts while a review is pending.
