To get directions to a calendar event with Apple CarPlay, select the upcoming event on the CarPlay Dashboard or open Calendar in CarPlay and select it. If the event offers a directions option, choose it to open the route. If it does not, search for the venue in CarPlay Maps, select a route, and tap Go. Add a physical street address to the event’s Location field before you drive to help Maps identify the destination.
Before you start: check the event location
On your iPhone, open the event in Calendar and check its Location field. Enter the venue’s physical street address if it is missing or incomplete. Calendar can use Apple Maps to look up an event location when an address is supplied, which helps Maps match the event to a destination.
A venue name alone may not identify the right place as reliably as a street address. Review the address before setting off, especially if the event is at a large venue or one with similarly named locations.

Navigate from the event in CarPlay
- Connect your iPhone to CarPlay.
- Look for the upcoming event on the CarPlay Dashboard. Alternatively, open Calendar from the CarPlay app pages using your vehicle’s controls.
- Select the event to view its details.
- If an option to get directions appears, select it and follow the route in Maps.
The directions option is conditional: Apple says event options may include directions or a way to phone into the event. Not every event or CarPlay configuration will show a directions control.

If the event has no directions option, search in Maps
- Open Maps in CarPlay.
- Search for the venue by voice or with the onscreen keyboard, if your CarPlay setup makes the keyboard available. You can also look for a nearby service category or choose a saved destination.
- Select the intended destination and review the available routes.
- Use the vehicle controls to choose a route, then choose Go to begin turn-by-turn guidance.
Searching in Maps is useful when the event card does not offer directions or when you want to choose among multiple routes. Confirm that the result is the correct venue before starting guidance.
Choosing between the two methods

Check these requirements if directions do not work
- Internet connection: The iPhone must be connected to the internet for directions.
- Location Services: Location Services must be on.
- Event address: Check that the event’s Location field contains a physical address that identifies the venue.
- CarPlay support: CarPlay works only with supported vehicles or aftermarket navigation systems and in supported regions. If you are unsure whether your vehicle supports it, check with the vehicle manufacturer.
Using Siri and vehicle controls
Voice controls depend on the vehicle. Depending on the setup, you may be able to activate Siri with a steering-wheel voice button, by pressing and holding the CarPlay control, or by saying “Hey Siri” when the vehicle supports that option. If voice search is unavailable or does not return the right place, use the vehicle controls and onscreen options available in CarPlay.
