Palworld has no pick-up-and-place command for a completed base. In multiplayer, moving means taking apart the old base, dismantling the old Palbox, and building a new Palbox elsewhere. Pals stored in the Palbox remain available at the new location, and manually dismantled structures return their building resources, but the order matters.

Have the guild agree on the move, store working Pals, dismantle buildings before the Palbox, stage materials in chests, and check the host’s available base slots and server rules before you confirm the teardown.

What “moving a base” means in Palworld

The Palbox is the base anchor. It defines the camp’s build area and cannot be repositioned after placement. You therefore cannot grab a finished camp and drop it at a new coordinate. Relocation is a controlled teardown followed by reconstruction.

GameSpot’s September 24, 2024 relocation guide describes the key action: select the old Palbox base on the world map and hold the displayed disassembly input. After confirmation, the old base anchor is removed and you can construct a Palbox at another site. Creatures left inside the box remain stored for the new location.

#1 Best Overall

That does not mean every object should be removed at once. Production buildings, farms, beds, defenses, and other ordinary structures should be dismantled manually first. Windows Central’s January 30, 2024 procedure says this returns the resources used to build them, allowing the guild to transport those materials and rebuild instead of starting from nothing. Removing the Palbox before taking structures apart can leave the remaining camp at risk of being wiped, so treat the Palbox as the final demolition step.

Plan the move with your guild before touching the Palbox

In multiplayer, the base belongs to the guild rather than to one isolated player. Palbox locations, chests, workbenches, production queues, and the structures inside a guild base are shared. The guild guide also states that a member cannot maintain a private base inside that guild. A player who dismantles the camp without warning can therefore interrupt another member’s production or strand materials that someone else was using.

Check What to decide Why it matters
Guild approval Agree on the destination, timing, and who performs demolition and rebuilding. Every guild member can be affected by the old Palbox and shared structures disappearing.
Stored versus assigned Pals Each player should identify which Pals are in personal Palbox storage and which are assigned to the base. Boxed Pals remain private to their owner; Pals assigned to the guild base can be moved or retained by guild members.
Material ownership Decide what will be rebuilt, what can be discarded, and who will carry each batch. Chest contents and production queues are common guild property, so a teardown can affect unfinished work.
Base-slot availability Check whether the host or world can support an additional base during the transfer. A spare slot enables an easier two-base overlap; without one, the guild must complete a one-base teardown.
Server rules Confirm whether the world is PvE or uses official PvP settings, and avoid an active attack. PvP settings add spacing requirements and block building or repairs while a base is under attack.

Choose one-base teardown or two-base overlap

There are two practical relocation patterns. The first works on any server but requires more staging and carrying. The second is safer for a large guild when a spare base slot is available.

Method How it works Best use Main trade-off
One-base teardown Dismantle structures, move the refunded resources, remove the old Palbox, then place the new one. Guilds at their base limit or worlds where an extra slot is unavailable. There is no permanent overlap, so materials need temporary chest storage and repeated trips.
Two-base overlap Place the destination Palbox first, move supplies and rebuild while the original camp still exists, then dismantle the old Palbox. A host with an unused base slot and a large or actively producing guild base. The available slot depends on base level and world/server settings; it is not guaranteed.
PvE relocation Use either method while observing normal placement rules. Most cooperative worlds. Still requires guild coordination and a complete Palbox teardown.
PvP relocation Use either method outside an attack and with the required spacing between bases. Servers using official PvP settings. Building and repairs are blocked while a base is under attack, and bases must be farther apart.

Step-by-step: move a Palworld multiplayer base

1. Agree on a destination and a move window

Pick a site with enough open, flat ground for the Palbox and the structures your guild intends to rebuild. The Palbox becomes the center of the new build radius and cannot be repositioned after placement, so do not place it until the group has checked the approach, available building area, and intended layout.

On a PvP server, schedule the move when the base is not under attack. The official PvP rules described in the relocation guidance also require greater separation between bases, so verify that the destination satisfies those rules before dismantling anything.

2. Decide whether to create an overlap

If the host has a free base slot, consider placing the destination Palbox before removing the old one. This lets the guild keep the original camp operating while supplies and essential buildings are established at the destination. The 1.0 base-level table published by Palworld.tools shows the highest listed rows reaching four guild bases, with additional slots unlocking at milestones; the actual limit can change with world or server settings.

If no slot is available, use the one-base method. Build temporary chests at the old camp and, if possible, at the destination. You can still make an orderly transfer, but the old Palbox must remain until the last stage.

3. Put working Pals into Palbox storage

Before demolition, return each active worker, ranch Pal, and other base-assigned creature to Palbox storage. Windows Central specifically recommends moving current-base Pals into the box before starting. This keeps them out of the construction area and prevents an assigned worker from being caught in the teardown.

Stored Pals remain available after the old Palbox is dismantled. Each player’s boxed Pals remain private to that player within the guild, while Pals assigned to the guild base are subject to the guild’s shared management. Have members confirm their own storage rather than assuming every creature belongs to the person doing the demolition.

4. Build staging chests at both locations

Use Wooden Chests as transfer points. At the old base, place the resources recovered from dismantled buildings into organized batches. At the destination, build matching storage so carried materials can be deposited immediately. Labeling by purpose—construction, production, food, or defensive items—reduces the chance that a guild member consumes materials reserved for a critical workstation.

Do not dismantle the old Palbox yet. It is still useful for fast travel while the guild is moving supplies. Carry what fits in your inventory, leave the remainder in the old-site chests, and make additional trips before the final Palbox removal.

5. Dismantle ordinary structures first

Enter Build Mode and switch to Disassembly Mode. Remove the structures the guild plans to recreate, including production buildings, farms, beds, defenses, and other camp objects. The relocation procedures describe these dismantled structures as returning the resources used to build them.

Work methodically rather than deleting the entire camp in an arbitrary order:

  1. Remove nonessential decorations and duplicate objects.
  2. Dismantle production and crafting buildings after recording which ones the guild needs immediately at the destination.
  3. Take down farms, ranch-related structures, beds, and defenses.
  4. Deposit each refund batch in the old-site staging chests or carry it directly to the new site.

Keep the old Palbox until this process is complete. The point is to recover the construction resources by hand before the base anchor is removed.

6. Transport the recovered materials

Fill your inventory with a manageable batch and deposit the rest in the staged chests. While the old Palbox still exists, use it for fast travel to a point near the destination whenever the map offers a convenient route. That is usually more efficient than carrying every load in one long trip.

If there is no useful fast-travel point near the destination, use a flying mount as the fallback described by the relocation guide. Split the work among guild members: one person can keep dismantling, another can shuttle materials, and a third can prepare the destination. With a two-base overlap, deposit supplies directly into the new camp as soon as its storage is ready.

7. Dismantle the old Palbox last

When ordinary structures are down and the guild has moved or staged the recovered materials, open the world map. Select the old base’s Palbox location and hold the on-screen disassembly control. Read the warning and confirm only after every guild member has agreed that the old anchor can disappear.

This is the irreversible transition from the old base to the new one. Any structure not manually dismantled beforehand may not be available to recover after the Palbox is removed, which is why the teardown order is more important than the speed of the final confirmation.

8. Place the new Palbox on open, flat ground

At the destination, enter the construction interface and place the Palbox where the guild wants the camp’s center to be. The base-camp field guide notes that the Palbox anchors the build radius and cannot be repositioned after placement. Check the footprint and surrounding space before confirming.

Once placed, the new Palbox establishes the destination base. Reconnect each player’s stored Pals and assign workers only after the essential infrastructure is ready.

9. Rebuild in a survivable order

Do not try to recreate every decorative object before the camp can function. Use the transported refunds to restore the systems the guild needs first:

  1. Storage: Build chests and move the staged resources into the new camp.
  2. Beds: Restore sleeping arrangements so members and base Pals have the intended facilities.
  3. Food and farms: Re-establish the food supply before assigning workers.
  4. Production: Rebuild the crafting and processing buildings that support current projects.
  5. Defenses: Replace defensive structures after the core layout is stable.
  6. Optional items: Add decorations and duplicate workstations last.

Return Pals from storage, assign the required workers, and check that production queues and chest contents are present at the destination. Because guild storage and queues are shared, verify the result with the members who owned the affected projects.

What happens to Pals, buildings, and materials?

Item Result during relocation What you should do
Pals in Palbox storage They remain stored and are available after the new Palbox is built. Store working Pals before demolition and have each owner confirm their own box.
Pals assigned to the guild base They are part of shared guild-base management and can be moved or retained by guild members. Agree in advance who will reassign them at the destination.
Ordinary structures dismantled in Disassembly Mode The relocation procedures report a refund of the resources used to build them. Dismantle them by hand before removing the Palbox, then stage the refunds in chests.
Structures left until Palbox removal They may not be recoverable once the old base anchor is removed. Treat the Palbox as the final demolition step.
Chests, workbenches, and production queues They are shared within the guild base. Tell the guild before teardown and move or finish important work first.

Multiplayer issues that commonly derail a move

A member expected a private base

A guild member cannot keep a separate private base inside the same guild according to the guild guidance. If someone needs an independent base, resolve that guild-structure decision before the move rather than dismantling a shared Palbox unexpectedly.

Another player’s production queue is still running

Because queues are shared, stopping the old base can affect everyone. Ask members to finish, cancel, or document active production before demolition, and keep a written list of essential workstations to rebuild first.

The host’s base limit differs from the guide

Palworld.tools’ 2026 base-level table lists four guild bases in its highest displayed rows, but world and server settings can alter the available limit. Treat that figure as a reference for the listed 1.0 data, not a universal guarantee. Check the host’s actual world before planning an overlap.

The destination Palbox will not place

Recheck that the site has open, flat ground and that the location is legal for the world’s base-spacing rules. On official PvP settings, bases must be farther apart; during an attack, building and repairing are blocked. Wait until the attack ends and choose a compliant location instead of repeatedly attempting placement.

A Pal seems to be missing after the move

First check the owner’s Palbox storage rather than the new base’s assigned workers. Pals left in storage are retained, while base-assigned Pals may need to be reassigned by the guild. Confirm which player owned the Pal and whether it was stored before demolition.

Final pre-confirmation checklist

  • The guild has approved the destination and demolition time.
  • Every working Pal is in Palbox storage.
  • Members have checked shared chests and production queues.
  • Temporary chests exist at the old site and, if possible, the destination.
  • Ordinary structures have been dismantled manually.
  • Recovered resources are carried or staged for transport.
  • The host’s base-slot limit has been checked if using two-base overlap.
  • PvP spacing and attack-state restrictions have been cleared.
  • Everyone understands that selecting and confirming the old Palbox disassembly removes the old base anchor.

After those checks, dismantle the old Palbox from the world map, place the new one on suitable ground, and rebuild the shared camp around it. The move preserves stored Pals and lets the guild recover building resources, but only when the Palbox is deliberately left until the end.
