The safest way to move from an old phone to the vivo X Fold6 is vivo EasyShare’s Phone Clone. It connects the phones with a QR code, lets you choose what to copy, and transfers the selected data directly between them without using mobile data for the clone itself. Back up the old phone first, because vivo warns that matching app data on the X Fold6 can be overwritten.
Phone Clone is not a promise that every app will be installed with its private data or remain signed in. Some apps may require manual installation, account sign-in, security verification, or a separate backup-and-restore process.
Which transfer method should you use?
Choose the method that matches your old phone and what you need to preserve. Phone Clone is the closest fit for a normal old-phone-to-new-phone migration. EasyShare PC is useful when you need a computer-held backup or when a direct connection is impractical, but it is not proof that every app’s private or encrypted data will be restored.

EasyShare features and labels can vary by X Fold6 model, carrier, and country. The documented Phone Clone instructions are general vivo instructions rather than a manual for every X Fold6 variant, so use the nearest matching label on your phones and contact local vivo support if an option is missing.

Before you start: protect the old phone and prepare both devices
Do not erase, trade in, reset, or uninstall apps from the old phone until you have checked the X Fold6. A second backup gives you a recovery path if the clone stops halfway or an app’s data does not appear.
Make an independent backup
- Create a cloud or computer backup using the services you already trust for contacts, photos, messages, documents, and authenticator data.
- Export anything that is intentionally stored only inside an app, such as an authenticator vault, an offline notes database, downloaded media, or a password manager vault. Many apps protect this information from ordinary phone-to-phone copying.
- Record recovery codes and make sure you can receive sign-in codes after moving the SIM or eSIM. A transferred app may still require a fresh login.
Prepare the phones
- Charge both phones, preferably above 50 percent, and keep them near one another throughout the clone.
- Unlock the old phone and install or update EasyShare if it is not already present. Check that Phone Clone is available on the X Fold6.
- Temporarily disable battery-saving restrictions that could suspend EasyShare, and do not switch repeatedly between the transfer screen and other apps.
- Ensure the X Fold6 has enough free storage for the categories you select. A migration can fail late if the destination fills up.
- Keep Wi-Fi or mobile connectivity available for tasks after cloning, including downloading apps, signing in, restoring cloud content, and completing system updates. The clone itself is described as data-free, but that does not mean the entire setup process is offline.
Move data with EasyShare Phone Clone
The basic sequence is the same for an Android or iPhone sender: put the old phone in the sender role, put the X Fold6 in the receiver role, pair by QR code, choose the data, and start. Menu wording can differ slightly between regional software versions.
1. Put the old phone in the sender role
- Open EasyShare on the old phone.
- Choose the option identifying it as the old phone or sender. EasyShare should display a QR code for pairing.
- Leave that code visible. If the old phone asks for local-network, camera, or nearby-device permission, grant the permission required for the connection.
2. Put the X Fold6 in the receiver role
- On the vivo X Fold6, open Phone Clone. On some regional builds, the entry may be presented within EasyShare.
- Choose the old phone type: Android or iPhone.
- Use the X Fold6 to scan the QR code shown on the old phone.
- Wait for the pairing screen to show both devices. Keep the phones close and avoid locking either display.
3. Choose what to copy
- On the old phone, review the categories and individual items EasyShare offers.
- Deselect large folders or media you have already backed up if the X Fold6 has limited free space.
- Pay special attention to app entries. Selecting an app in the list does not guarantee that its private database, account session, or security credentials can be reproduced on the new device.
- Confirm the destination has enough storage, then start the clone.
4. Let the transfer finish
Do not close EasyShare, move far apart, turn off either phone, or begin another large transfer while cloning is in progress. The direct clone does not consume mobile data according to vivo’s documentation, although Wi-Fi or mobile connectivity may still be needed later for downloads and cloud restoration.

Android is the most direct source for a Phone Clone migration because EasyShare can present both phones as Android devices. The process still does not make Android app compatibility universal. An app may be unavailable for the X Fold6’s regional software, may require a new installation from its official store, or may deliberately block transfer of its protected data.

After the clone, open the X Fold6’s app list and identify missing apps. If an app was transferred as an installable package but did not install automatically, vivo’s regional guidance says you may be able to install it manually through Files > Apps. Only install packages you recognize and trust, and prefer the app’s official store listing when one is available.
iPhone-to-X Fold6 details
For an iPhone source, select iPhone as the old-phone type on the X Fold6 before scanning the QR code. Phone Clone can move the categories that EasyShare exposes, but iOS security boundaries mean that an Android destination cannot generally reproduce every iOS app’s internal database or signed-in state.
Expect to reinstall many apps from their Android versions and sign in again. Keep the iPhone available for two-factor prompts, encrypted messaging verification, passkeys, and any export step required by an individual app. Do not wipe the iPhone simply because photos or contacts appear on the X Fold6; verify the accounts and app-specific data first.

Apps may not install automatically
vivo states that permission limitations can prevent transferred apps from installing automatically. If an app appears in the transferred items but is absent from the launcher, check Files > Apps on the X Fold6 and install it manually when the package is available. If no package is offered, download the app from its official Android distribution channel.

App data and sessions may be missing
A successful clone does not establish that an app’s private database, encrypted content, login cookie, device binding, or account session moved. Banking, enterprise, streaming, password-manager, authenticator, and encrypted-messaging apps commonly require their own migration or verification flow. Open each important app and confirm that its content is present before relying on the X Fold6 as the only copy.
Existing destination data can be overwritten
The vivo manual warns that data for the same apps on the new phone will be overwritten. If you have already configured an app on the X Fold6, export or record anything important before cloning, or remove the destination copy only after confirming that the old-phone version is the one you intend to keep.
Finish setup and verify the result
Do not treat the completion screen as the end of migration. Verification catches the failures that a simple item count cannot show.
- Connect the X Fold6 to a reliable network and install system updates.
- Open Contacts and compare the number of entries with the old phone. Check that labels, favorites, and contact photos are present if they matter to you.
- Open Photos and Files, inspect recent and older items, and check folders that are easy to overlook, such as downloads, scans, recordings, and messaging-media directories.
- Open your calendar, notes, tasks, and email accounts. Confirm synchronization dates rather than assuming that an app icon means the content is available.
- Launch security-sensitive apps one at a time. Complete their official re-registration or export/import process, and verify that notifications work.
- Test calls, text messages, mobile data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth accessories, fingerprint or face unlock, and any work profile before depending on the X Fold6.
- Keep the old phone untouched until the checks are complete and you have a fresh backup of the X Fold6.
Use EasyShare PC when a computer backup is needed
EasyShare PC provides another documented route over USB or Wi-Fi. It can be useful when you want a backup stored on a computer, when the phones cannot remain paired, or when you prefer to restore selected categories later.

Create a PC backup
- Install the EasyShare PC software appropriate for your region and operating system.
- Open EasyShare on the old phone and EasyShare PC on the computer.
- Connect the phone by USB or use the supported Wi-Fi connection, then approve the phone’s connection and any required permissions.
- Choose the backup function and select the categories to save.
- Wait for the backup to finish, then confirm that the backup folder exists and has a plausible size before disconnecting the old phone.
Restore to the X Fold6
- Connect the X Fold6 to EasyShare PC.
- Choose the restore function and select the backup created from the old phone.
- Review the categories before starting. Restoring overlapping app data can replace data already present on the X Fold6.
- After the restore, complete the same account, app, and file checks described above.
vivo’s regional PC guidance says encrypted data is not backed up through this workflow. Treat PC backup as an additional route, not the sole safety copy for encrypted or app-private material.

| Your situation | Preferred route | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Android or iPhone is available and you want a one-time move | Phone Clone | Direct QR pairing and selectable categories reduce setup steps |
| You need a backup retained on a computer | EasyShare PC, plus an independent backup | The computer copy gives you another recovery point, but encrypted data may be excluded |
| You only need documents, photos, or a few folders | EasyShare file transfer or the relevant cloud service | A selected file move avoids overwriting unrelated app data |
| Your priority is an app’s protected internal data | Use that app’s own export or migration procedure | Neither documented EasyShare route guarantees private app-state restoration |
| The X Fold6 already contains important data | Back up the destination, then choose categories carefully | Same-app data may be overwritten during cloning or restore |
Troubleshoot common transfer problems
The QR code will not scan
- Increase screen brightness and clean the old phone’s camera lens.
- Keep the QR code fully visible and hold the X Fold6 several centimetres away rather than touching the displays.
- Restart EasyShare on both phones and repeat the old-phone and new-phone role selection.
- Check camera, nearby-device, local-network, and storage permissions.
The phones disconnect during cloning
- Keep both screens awake and close together.
- Disable aggressive battery optimization for EasyShare.
- Pause VPNs, hotspot changes, or other network switching that could interrupt the local connection.
- Charge both devices and retry with fewer categories if the transfer repeatedly fails on a very large selection.
An app is missing after the transfer
- Look in Files > Apps for a transferred installer.
- If it is not there, install the Android version from its official store.
- Sign in and use the app’s own restore or export process. Do not assume that reinstalling recreates protected data.
Photos or files appear incomplete
- Compare folders, not only the gallery’s item count.
- Check whether cloud-only items were downloaded on the old phone before cloning.
- Use EasyShare file transfer or your existing cloud backup for the missing folders.
The X Fold6 says there is not enough space
- Cancel and back up the old phone before deleting anything.
- Re-run Phone Clone with optional videos, downloads, or duplicate files deselected.
- Move large media to a computer or cloud storage, then copy only what you need locally.
Transfer speed, data use, and power expectations
vivo has advertised EasyShare at up to 40 MB/s on a cited product page, but that is an undated vendor maximum rather than an independently measured X Fold6 result. Actual speed depends on the phones, selected data, interference, storage performance, and regional software. Use the progress indicator rather than estimating completion from that headline figure.
Phone Clone’s direct transfer is described as data-free, meaning the clone itself does not consume mobile-data allowance. App downloads, account authentication, cloud photo restoration, operating-system updates, and other follow-up tasks can still use Wi-Fi or mobile data. Keep both phones powered until those tasks are finished.

Regional and model differences matter
vivo’s China product information lists X Fold6 variants and a June 2026 launch timing, while the India product information lists a different regional software version and specifications. Those pages establish regional products; they do not prove that every market has identical menus, preinstalled applications, transfer support, or network behavior.
Because EasyShare support and available features can vary by model, carrier, and country, confirm that the app is present and current on both phones. If your X Fold6 uses different wording or lacks Phone Clone, follow the closest EasyShare workflow shown on the device and consult local vivo support before choosing a third-party migration tool.
Do not confuse Phone Clone with AI Cross-App Drag
The X Fold6 announcement describes AI Cross-App Drag, which moves information between apps already running on the phone. That feature helps with actions such as taking content from one app into another; it does not clone applications or migrate an old phone’s data. Use EasyShare Phone Clone for the old-to-new move.
Quick Recap
Recommended order of operations
- Back up the old phone independently and keep it intact.
- Update and open EasyShare on both devices.
