The safest move is to keep the iPhone and its backup intact, then use the migration tool supported by the exact destination model: Mi Mover for Xiaomi, Clone Phone for OPPO, or Apple’s direct Android transfer when your software, device and carrier qualify. Transfer in one uninterrupted session, check the new phone carefully, deregister iMessage if necessary, and erase the iPhone only after everything important is confirmed.
What can move, and what can be left behind
Phone-to-phone migration is selective rather than a perfect copy. The destination phone, operating-system versions and region determine which categories appear in the transfer screen. A successful completion message means the selected job finished; it does not guarantee that every account, app session or hardware-bound credential is usable on Android.

Do not delete iCloud content merely to “clean up” before migration. Deleting synchronized items can remove them from the account and every device that uses it.
Prepare both phones before starting
Preparation prevents the most expensive failure: discovering after an erase that a category was never copied.

- Create a fresh iPhone backup. Use the current Apple backup option available on the iPhone, wait for it to complete, and leave the backup untouched. Keep the original iPhone available throughout the move.
- Identify the exact destination model and software. Xiaomi and OPPO screens differ by model, ColorOS or HyperOS build, and region. Do not assume that an instruction for one phone applies to every phone carrying the same brand name.
- Install pending system and migration-app updates. Xiaomi’s Mi Mover instructions call for the latest Mi Mover on both devices. OPPO’s route uses Clone Phone on the new phone and HeyTap Clone Phone from the App Store on the iPhone.
- Check storage. The new phone must have room for the selected photos, videos, messages and other categories. If it is nearly full, move fewer categories at a time only when the app offers that choice, or free space before starting.
- Charge and connect. Keep both phones on a reliable Wi-Fi network and near each other. Xiaomi specifies at least 30% battery on each device for Mi Mover. A higher charge is prudent for a large photo library.
- Protect an already-used destination phone. If the OPPO has been set up or contains files, back it up before using Clone Phone. OPPO warns that the migration can overwrite existing apps and app data on the new phone.
- Collect account and security details. Have Apple Account, Google account, email and two-factor authentication methods available. A transferred app may still require a fresh sign-in or device approval.
Choose the migration route

Use one route at a time. Running multiple migration jobs against the same destination can create duplicates, overwrite choices or make it difficult to tell which copy is complete.
Move an iPhone to Xiaomi with Mi Mover
Mi Mover is Xiaomi’s documented phone-migration utility. Xiaomi says it can accept an iPhone as the old device and transfer selected categories to a new Xiaomi phone.
- Install the latest Mi Mover version requested by Xiaomi on both devices, using the official app flow for your model.
- Turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on both phones. Keep them close, with both screens available during setup.
- Open Mi Mover and designate the iPhone as the sender and the Xiaomi as the receiver.
- Allow the phones to establish their direct connection. Xiaomi describes the transfer as using Wi-Fi Direct, so the phones may create a temporary connection rather than relying only on your home router.
- On the sender, select the categories to copy. Review the selection instead of accepting it blindly; large video libraries can consume substantial storage and time.
- Start the transfer and leave both phones nearby with their screens on. Do not switch apps, restart either phone or disable the connection until Mi Mover reports completion.
- When the transfer finishes, inspect the Xiaomi before deleting anything from the iPhone.
Xiaomi lists contacts, messages, photos, videos, music, apps and other personal data, but also warns that compatibility depends on the old-device model and operating-system version. Therefore, treat the categories shown on your own screen as the authoritative list for that session.
If Mi Mover cannot connect
- Confirm that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on both phones and that they are close together.
- Recheck battery level; Xiaomi’s stated minimum is 30% on each device.
- Install the latest available Mi Mover build requested by the Xiaomi instructions for your model.
- Restart both phones and begin a new session rather than repeatedly retrying a stalled transfer.
- If a single category fails, retry with smaller selections to identify whether a particular file or incompatible item is blocking the job.
Use Xiaomi’s Google Drive route when a direct move is unsuitable
Xiaomi also describes a cloud route for selected iPhone data. Install the Google Drive app on the iPhone, back up the supported items you need, then add the same Google account to the Xiaomi and allow the account to synchronize.

- Sign in to Google Drive on the iPhone with the account you intend to use on the Xiaomi.
- Back up the selected photos, contacts and calendar events through the current Google Drive screens.
- Wait for the upload to finish. A backup that is still processing is not a completed migration.
- Add that exact Google account to the Xiaomi during or after setup.
- Open the relevant Xiaomi apps and confirm that contacts, calendar events and photos have synchronized.
The Xiaomi UK support page cites 15 GB of free Google Drive backup. That is a vendor-stated figure on an undated page and may change with account policy; check the current storage allocation before starting. Cloud backup also depends on upload completion, account access and the categories supported by the current app screens.
Move an iPhone to OPPO with Clone Phone
OPPO’s regional instructions for ColorOS 12 and later use Clone Phone on the new OPPO and HeyTap Clone Phone on the iPhone. The cited flow names contacts, photos and videos, while other categories can vary by model, software version and region.
- Open Clone Phone on the new OPPO.
- Choose that the OPPO is the new device, then select iPhone as the old-phone type.
- On the iPhone, install HeyTap Clone Phone from the App Store.
- Open the iPhone app and grant the permissions requested for the categories you chose. Review each permission prompt rather than granting unrelated access.
- Use the iPhone to scan the QR code displayed by Clone Phone on the OPPO. The phones will establish the transfer connection.
- Select the available data categories and start migration.
- Keep both phones nearby and undisturbed until Clone Phone confirms completion.
- Check the OPPO’s contacts, photos and videos, then test any additional category that appeared on your screen.
OPPO gives this explicit warning: “When you use the Clone Phone, all the existing apps and app data on the new phone will be overwritten by data from the old phone.” If the OPPO already contains anything valuable, make a separate backup before scanning the QR code. OPPO also excludes hardware-linked items such as transit or access cards, security-related data, some incompatible apps or app data, and system-clone data.
What to do when Clone Phone omits an app
Install the app from the OPPO’s app store and sign in using the service’s normal recovery process. For financial, password-manager, authenticator and workplace apps, expect a new-device verification or a re-enrollment step. An app icon appearing on the OPPO is not proof that its local database, downloads or credentials transferred.

Check Apple’s direct Android transfer during setup
Apple documents a direct transfer and eSIM option for a compatible Android device when the iPhone is running iOS 26.3. The flow begins on Android and uses a QR code that the iPhone camera scans. Apple’s examples include photos, contacts, calendars, call history and messages.
- Start setup on the compatible Android phone and look for the data-transfer option.
- Display the Android QR code and scan it with the iPhone camera when prompted.
- Select the data categories offered by the setup flow.
- Allow the transfer to complete before moving on to eSIM setup.
- If eSIM transfer is offered, confirm that your carrier supports it and follow the on-screen activation steps.
- Make a test call, send a message and verify mobile data before relying on the new phone.
Apple’s instructions are regional and device-dependent. Check the current Apple guidance for your country and the destination phone’s setup screen. The documented examples do not establish universal WhatsApp or all-app-data transfer, so do not treat this route as a promise that every app will arrive intact.
Keep receiving SMS and RCS messages after the switch
Apple says that people who move to a non-Apple phone and do not receive RCS or SMS/MMS messages may need to deregister iMessage. This is separate from copying contacts or photos.

- If the iPhone is still available, open Settings and turn off iMessage.
- Turn off FaceTime as well.
- Remove the SIM or complete eSIM activation on the new phone according to your carrier’s instructions.
- Send a test message from a non-Apple phone and ask someone using an iPhone to send one to your number.
- If you no longer have the iPhone, use Apple’s online iMessage deregistration process.
Apple notes that other Apple devices can take a few hours to recognize the deregistration. During that period, some messages may still be routed as iMessages.

Verify the new phone before erasing the iPhone
Use a deliberate checklist, not a quick glance at the home screen. Keep the iPhone powered on and the backup available until every important item passes.
- Contacts: search for a recent contact, an old contact and one with notes or multiple numbers.
- Photos and videos: inspect recent captures, older albums, favorites and several long videos. Open files rather than checking only thumbnails.
- Messages: check recent SMS/RCS conversations and any history that the chosen route claimed to support.
- Calendar: verify past, future and recurring events, plus shared calendars if you rely on them.
- Calls: review call history if it is important to your work or records.
- Files and music: open representative documents, recordings and music items that Xiaomi or another route reported as transferred.
- Apps: sign in to essential services, confirm account data and test notifications. Reinstall apps whose data did not cross operating systems.
- Security: re-enroll authenticators, passkeys, payment cards, transit cards and access credentials using each provider’s official process.
- Connectivity: make a call, send an SMS, test mobile data, connect to Wi-Fi and pair essential Bluetooth accessories.
- Cloud accounts: confirm that the correct Google, email and calendar accounts are present and syncing.
If a category is missing, consult the iPhone backup before changing or erasing anything. A separate export or the service’s own cloud restore may be the correct solution.
Troubleshoot common failure points
The transfer stops or shows no progress
Keep both devices close, connected to power if possible, and awake. Confirm that the destination has enough free space. If the same item repeatedly blocks the job, retry with smaller selections and leave that category for a separate service-specific migration.

The destination phone has duplicates
Do not start another full migration immediately. Determine whether the duplicate is in the phone’s local storage, a synced account or a third-party app. Remove duplicates only after confirming that the original remains in the iPhone backup or the appropriate cloud account.

Only some photos appear
Check whether the missing items were optimized in iCloud, stored in a shared album or excluded by the selected transfer category. Use the Xiaomi Google Drive route or the photo service’s own export and sync process when the direct tool does not offer the required items.
OPPO data disappeared after cloning
Clone Phone may overwrite existing apps and app data. Restore the OPPO’s pre-migration backup, then decide whether to reset the destination and run the clone again or manually combine only the needed data.
The eSIM will not activate
Apple’s direct route requires a compatible Android device and a supported carrier. Contact the carrier for its current transfer or replacement process; do not erase the iPhone’s cellular plan until the new phone can make calls and use mobile data.

Complete iMessage and FaceTime deactivation on the old iPhone, or use Apple’s online deregistration if it is unavailable. Allow the stated delay for other Apple devices to update, then test SMS and RCS again.
Erase or trade in the iPhone only at the end
After verification, retain the backup for a reasonable recovery period. Sign out of accounts and follow Apple’s current erase procedure only when the Xiaomi or OPPO has working calls, messages, photos, contacts and the other data you actually need. A migration is complete when the new phone is usable and recoverable—not merely when a transfer bar reaches 100 percent.
