Use the Files app: enable OneDrive as a Files location, then move the selected item into a folder in iCloud Drive. The final button can vary with your iOS version, so check that the file appears in iCloud Drive before deleting anything from OneDrive.
Before you start
- Install the OneDrive app on your iPhone and sign in. Apple says third-party cloud apps must be installed and set up before they can be enabled in Files.
- Make sure iCloud Drive is enabled and that you have enough available iCloud storage for the file. Apple notes that available storage depends on your iCloud storage plan.
Apple’s instructions for enabling a third-party cloud location are at Use third-party cloud apps in the Files app. For iCloud Drive setup and storage context, see Apple’s iPhone User Guide.
Move a file from OneDrive to iCloud Drive
- Open Files and tap Browse.
- Tap More, then Edit. Turn on OneDrive and tap Done. The layout may differ slightly in newer iOS versions; Apple notes that iOS 26 shows iCloud Drive after tapping More.
- Under Locations, tap OneDrive and navigate to the file.
- Touch and hold the file, then tap Move.
- Select the destination folder under iCloud Drive, then complete the action shown on screen. Apple documents tapping Done for iOS 26 and tapping Move again for iOS 18 or earlier.
- Open the destination folder and confirm the file is there before removing any remaining copy in OneDrive.

If OneDrive or iCloud Drive does not appear
OneDrive is missing from Locations
Confirm the OneDrive app is installed and set up. Then return to Files > Browse > More > Edit, turn on OneDrive, and tap Done. If the service still does not appear, Apple advises contacting the cloud provider. Apple’s guidance on finding third-party locations is also available in Find files on your iPhone or iPad.

iCloud Drive is missing from Files
- Open Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Drive.
- Turn on Sync this iPhone.
- Return to Files, tap Browse, and look under Locations for iCloud Drive. If Locations is hidden, tap Browse again; if iCloud Drive is not listed, tap Locations.

What to know about the Move action
Although Apple labels the workflow as moving a file, its documented final action differs by iOS version: iOS 26 uses Done, while iOS 18 or earlier uses a second Move action. Because the displayed action and behavior can depend on software version and provider, verify the destination file before deleting the OneDrive original.

Microsoft’s OneDrive instructions cover uploading files into OneDrive and moving files between OneDrive folders, but do not document a complete OneDrive-to-iCloud export sequence in the app. Microsoft also says OneDrive cannot upload photos optimized for iCloud; that warning concerns uploading those photos into OneDrive, not a blanket restriction on moving ordinary documents into iCloud Drive using Files. Once stored in iCloud Drive, files are available on devices signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive enabled. The direct, documented iPhone route for this task is Files, where OneDrive and iCloud Drive appear as locations.
