You can mirror a Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet to a Fire TV only if both devices support the required wireless display mode. First, check the Fire TV for Settings > Display & Sounds > Enable Display Mirroring. If that option is available, open Smart View on the Galaxy, select the Fire TV, and approve any prompts. Both devices should be on the same Wi-Fi network.
Check compatibility before connecting
Amazon’s Fire TV mirroring method receives wireless display connections from devices that support Miracast. A Galaxy device must support Smart View/Miracast, and the particular Fire TV model must offer Display Mirroring. Amazon’s quickest compatibility check is on the Fire TV itself: if Enable Display Mirroring is missing from Settings > Display & Sounds, that device does not support this method. See Amazon’s Fire TV mirroring instructions and Amazon’s compatibility guidance.
Samsung’s Smart View instructions explain how to connect a Galaxy device to compatible receiving displays, but do not validate every Galaxy-to-Fire-TV pairing. This workflow follows from the shared Miracast requirement and Amazon’s receiver instructions; success depends on the exact phone and Fire TV models. Samsung notes that menu names and screens can vary by model and software version. Check both devices before buying anything for mirroring; an existing compatible Fire TV may be enough.

- Open the receiver screen on Fire TV. Go to Settings > Display & Sounds > Enable Display Mirroring. Leave the mirroring screen open while connecting. If the option is absent, this Fire TV cannot receive a connection through this method.
- Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network. Keep them within 30 ft (10 m), the maximum distance Amazon recommends when troubleshooting screen mirroring.
- Open Smart View on the Galaxy. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings, then tap Smart View. If it is not visible, edit Quick Settings to add it.
- Select the Fire TV and approve the connection. If the Fire TV appears in Smart View, tap it. Accept a permission prompt or enter a PIN if either device requests one.
To stop, press a button on the Fire TV remote; Amazon says this exits the Display Mirroring screen and ends the connection. Samsung’s setup guidance is at Smart View screen mirroring.

Why isn’t my Samsung finding the Fire TV?
- The Fire TV is not listed: Check again for Enable Display Mirroring under Settings > Display & Sounds. If it is missing, the device is not compatible with this mirroring method. If the option is present, confirm both devices use the same Wi-Fi network and are within Amazon’s recommended 30 ft (10 m).
- The connection is rejected: Watch the TV for a permission prompt and accept it. Some Smart View connections require permission or a PIN.
- The connection drops or behaves unreliably: Restart both devices and check that their software is current. Samsung recommends restarting and updating software, and notes that a stable Wi-Fi connection is required.
- The menus do not match: Menu labels and screens vary across device models and software versions. Look for Smart View in the Galaxy’s Quick Settings and Display Mirroring in the Fire TV’s Display & Sounds settings.

Why is the mirrored screen black or unavailable?
Samsung US says DRM-protected content cannot be mirrored through Smart View. If the phone’s interface mirrors but a particular video is black or unavailable, try opening the service’s native Fire TV app, if one exists and carries that content. An app plays its content on Fire TV; it is not equivalent to mirroring the phone screen, and availability depends on the service. See Samsung’s Smart View guidance.

When to mirror and when to use a Fire TV app
| Route | Best suited to | Limitations |
|---|---|---|
| Smart View screen mirroring | Showing the Galaxy screen on a compatible Fire TV | Both devices must support the required wireless display mode; some Fire TV models lack the mirroring option, and DRM-protected content may not mirror. |
| Native Fire TV streaming app | Playing a service’s supported content directly on Fire TV | Depends on the service offering a Fire TV app and making the content available there; it does not mirror the full phone screen. |
