To play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on PC, Activision says you need both Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 enabled. Check that Windows starts in UEFI mode from a GPT boot disk before changing firmware settings, then follow the instructions for your specific PC or motherboard. Afterward, use Activision’s Secure Attestation Wizard to verify the result.
What Secure Boot does—and why Modern Warfare 4 requires it
Secure Boot is a UEFI firmware feature that helps ensure only trusted software loads while the PC starts. Activision says it, together with TPM 2.0, supports system integrity and RICOCHET Anti-Cheat. The two requirements are related but distinct: Secure Boot controls what can load during startup, while TPM 2.0 provides hardware-based security features.
Activision lists Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 as requirements for the full game on PC. Its Beta support guidance also says both are required; players who do not meet them are restricted from online game modes. Requirements can change, so check the current Activision support guidance and official PC specifications for the latest details.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsCheck your Windows and boot configuration first
Activision’s listed prerequisites are Windows 10 version 22H2 or later, or Windows 11; TPM 2.0; UEFI boot mode; a GPT boot partition; and Secure Boot enabled. Legacy boot mode and an MBR boot disk do not meet its published Secure Boot requirements.

- TCG PC Client Platform TPM Profile (PTP) Specification; Family 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module Library; Family 2.0)
- TCG PC Client Specific TPM Interface Specification (TIS), Version 1.3 (TPM Main Specification; Family 1.2 Revision 116)
- Low Standby Power Consumption
TPM 2.0 may already be built into the PC and labeled differently in firmware. Activision lists Intel Platform Trust Technology (PTT), AMD CPU fTPM, or a discrete TPM chip as possible implementations. TPM 2.0 requires Windows 10 version 20H2 or later, but the game’s listed support guidance requires Windows 10 version 22H2 or later. Its listed processor support for TPM is Intel 8th generation or newer with Intel PTT, or AMD Ryzen 2000 series or newer with AMD CPU fTPM; the PC and its firmware must also support the feature.
The full-game PC specifications separately state a minimum operating system of Windows 10 64-bit with the latest update and note that specifications are valid for launch and may change. These game-specific requirements should not be confused with general Windows Secure Boot support: Microsoft says Secure Boot is a requirement for Windows 8, 8.1, 10, and 11.

Enable Secure Boot and TPM using your manufacturer’s instructions
There is no safe universal key sequence or BIOS menu path. Firmware interfaces and terminology vary by PC and motherboard model, and Activision warns that incorrect changes can cause problems, including boot failure.
- Identify the exact device or motherboard model. Find its official manufacturer support or manual page. Use that model-specific guidance to enter UEFI/BIOS and locate Secure Boot and TPM settings.
- Check your current boot setup. Confirm whether Windows uses UEFI or Legacy boot and whether the boot disk uses GPT or MBR. Activision’s requirements are UEFI and GPT. Do not switch boot modes or convert a disk without first establishing its current configuration and following the manufacturer’s and Microsoft’s supported process.
- Use the manufacturer’s procedure to enable the features. Look for Secure Boot and the TPM option; TPM may be labeled Intel PTT or AMD CPU fTPM. Follow the instructions for your model rather than applying settings intended for another PC.
- Save changes and restart Windows. If Windows does not start normally after a firmware change, use the manufacturer’s recovery guidance for that model rather than trying random firmware changes.
If you are unfamiliar with firmware settings, Activision recommends consulting the device or motherboard maker. Some systems may need a firmware update before the features can be enabled.

Verify the settings in Windows and with Activision’s wizard
Check TPM status
Press Windows + R, enter tpm.msc, and press Enter. Activision says the TPM status should show that it is ready for use. This check reports TPM status; use the wizard below to check the broader set of game requirements.
Run the Secure Attestation Wizard
Activision’s support instructions say to download the wizard ZIP, extract it, launch CODSecureAttestationWizard.exe, accept the terms, and run the scan. Activision listed version 1.2.0, updated September 16, 2026, when its support article was accessed October 7, 2026. The version may change; use the current download and instructions on the official support page.

- Independent TPM Processor: The remote card encryption security module uses an independent TPM encryption processor, which is a daughter board connected to the main board.
- High Security: The TPM securely stores an encryption key that can be created using encryption software, without which the content on the user's PC remains encrypted and protected from unauthorized access.
- PC Architecture: TPM module system components adopts a standard PC architecture and reserves a certain amount of memory for the system, so the actual memory size will be smaller than the specified amount.
- Scope of Application: TPM modules are suitable for GIGABYTE for 11 motherboards. Some motherboards require a TPM module inserted or an update to the latest BIOS to enable the TPM option.
- Easy to Use: 12Pin remote card encryption security module is easy to use, no complicated procedures are required, and it can be used immediately after installation.
A compliant result means the wizard’s listed security checks passed. If a check fails, use its specific category to select the relevant official troubleshooting guidance instead of resetting TPM or changing unrelated firmware settings.
What to do when the wizard reports a problem
The wizard can identify several different issues. Match the message to the check that failed:

- TPM not enabled: Check TPM status with
tpm.msc, then consult the PC or motherboard maker’s instructions for enabling TPM, Intel PTT, or AMD CPU fTPM. - Secure Boot not enabled: Recheck the model-specific UEFI instructions. Confirm the machine is using UEFI and GPT rather than assuming the Secure Boot toggle alone is the problem.
- Boot partition not GPT or BIOS boot mode not UEFI: These are boot-configuration findings, not merely a disabled Secure Boot switch. Do not convert the disk or change boot mode casually; follow the supported instructions for your system.
- BIOS firmware update recommended: Activision describes this as firmware that meets minimum security requirements but has an update recommended, which may be required in the future. It is distinct from a report that Secure Boot is disabled. Get firmware only from the PC or motherboard manufacturer’s official page for the exact model.
- Authorization key failed: Activision’s guidance identifies a UAC prompt for
enrollaik.exe. Follow the wizard’s official instructions for that check. - TCG Event Log failed: Activision advises restarting the PC and applying the latest Windows update.
If the settings are unavailable, or the system still fails the checks, contact the hardware vendor with the exact model and wizard result. Activision’s broad guidance may not match every firmware interface, and its support page recommends manufacturer help when the features cannot be enabled.
