Where to manage your PlayStation Plus subscription
PlayStation Plus is tied to the account, so sign in with the account that holds the membership. You can manage it in Account Management on the web or in the subscription settings on a PS5 or PS4. The web route is useful if you are away from your console; the console routes let you manage the membership from its account settings.

These routes lead to the same account subscription, but the precise labels can differ. If you cannot find the subscription on a console, try Account Management on the web and confirm the signed-in account before assuming there is no active membership. The important distinction is the account that owns the subscription, not simply the device on which you play.
Check your PlayStation Plus payment date
Before changing a plan or canceling, check the subscription page for the next payment date. This tells you when the next scheduled charge is expected; it is not necessarily the same as the date your current paid access ends if you have already changed or canceled the subscription. Read the date and the membership status shown in your own account before deciding when to act.
- On the web: Sign in to Account Management, choose Subscription, and select PlayStation Plus. Review the payment date displayed for the membership.
- On PS5: Open Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Subscriptions. Select PlayStation Plus and review its subscription details.
- On PS4: Open PlayStation Plus > Manage Membership > Subscription. Check the subscription details there.
If you do not see the expected membership, confirm that you are signed in to the account that purchased it. A subscription belongs to its account; checking a different account will not show the membership details you need. The date shown in the account is the most useful starting point when deciding whether to change a plan or stop renewal.
Keep the payment date separate from the paid-through date in your mind. The payment date answers when the next recurring payment is due if the subscription continues. The paid-through date answers how long the membership remains active after a cancellation or other change. Checking both the status and the date helps avoid mistaking a canceled renewal for an immediately ended membership.
Change your membership plan or payment frequency
Use the plan-change control on the subscription itself, not a separate purchase flow, to see the options available to your account. The offered plans, payment frequencies, and amounts can depend on your market and account. Check the price and terms presented in your own account before confirming; there is no single current price or offer that applies to every member.
- Sign in to Account Management on the web, open Subscription, and select PlayStation Plus.
- Choose Change Plan.
- Select an available plan and payment frequency, then review the amount and any change details shown for your account before confirming.
The subscription screens on PS5 and PS4 also provide a plan-change flow. If you manage the change on console, open the subscription settings using the route for your system and follow the plan options shown there. The account screen—not a generic example of a plan or price—is the place to confirm what is currently offered to you.

PlayStation’s UK plan-change guidance illustrates how an upgrade calculation can account for the unused portion of an existing membership. Its example uses a 12-month Essential subscription with six months remaining and illustrative prices of $79.99 and $159.99. Those figures are examples on that guide, not current prices to expect or a quote for another region. Use the amount shown in your own account.

The practical takeaway from that example is that a change can be calculated with reference to the remaining time on an existing plan; it should not be assumed to cost the full listed amount for a new membership. The example is not a promise about the amount or calculation in another market. Before confirming, check the selected plan, payment frequency, and any fee or adjustment displayed for your membership.
Cancel your subscription to stop future renewal
To stop the next renewal, cancel the PlayStation Plus subscription itself. Removing a saved payment method is not a substitute for cancellation: use the subscription’s cancel control and check the resulting status in your account.
- On the web: Sign in to Account Management, open Subscription, and select Cancel Subscription beside PlayStation Plus.
- On PS5: Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Subscriptions > PlayStation Plus > Cancel Subscription.
- On PS4: Go to PlayStation Plus > Manage Membership > Subscription > Cancel Subscription.
PlayStation’s US PlayStation Plus Usage Terms describe the service as an ongoing subscription with a recurring fee charged automatically at the then-current regular PlayStation Store price and at the frequency chosen at purchase, until canceled. That statement is specific to the US terms; check the applicable terms for your market.
If you change your mind before the next payment date, your account may show Reactivate Subscription. That option is for restoring the subscription before the next payment date; check the status and timing displayed in your account rather than assuming that the membership has already ended.
After canceling, verify the subscription status in the same account. The action you want is the cancellation of the recurring membership, not merely a change to wallet funds or saved payment details. If the account offers Reactivate Subscription, that is a sign to review the displayed status and timing carefully before selecting anything else.

What cancellation changes—and when access ends
Canceling ordinarily stops future renewal but leaves the benefits available until the end of the period already paid for. The next payment date and the paid-through end of access answer different questions: one concerns a scheduled charge, while the other concerns how long the current membership remains active. Check the subscription details after canceling to understand the timing for your account.
When the membership period ends, subscription-dependent benefits are no longer available. PlayStation identifies online multiplayer and online storage among the benefits that end. Monthly games obtained through Plus are also unavailable after the membership ends.
Not everything associated with Plus is treated the same way. Redeemed Plus packs and avatars remain the member’s, as do purchases made at a Plus discount. The fact that a discounted purchase remains yours does not mean Plus-only benefits or monthly games remain accessible after the membership ends.

Canceling normally gives you the remainder of the already-paid period, but it does not make subscription-dependent benefits permanent. A game obtained as a monthly Plus game becomes unavailable after membership ends, whereas a qualifying purchase made at a Plus discount remains yours. Packs and avatars redeemed through Plus also remain yours.
Payment methods, wallet funds, and renewal charges
Payment options and the ability to save a payment method depend on the country. PlayStation Store support describes adding funds online and saving supported payment methods; eligible payment information may also be saved when you add a payment method while shopping. The US support page lists limits for saved payment methods, but those limits and accepted methods should not be assumed to apply elsewhere.
A wallet top-up or PlayStation Store gift card can be a way to add funds where the product and redemption rules support it. Availability and redemption requirements vary by region. Adding wallet funds does not turn off auto-renewal; cancel the subscription through its subscription settings if you do not want another payment.

A low wallet balance may not prevent a renewal charge. Under the US PlayStation Plus Usage Terms, if the wallet does not have enough funds when payment is due, the default payment method on record may be charged to cover the subscription fee. This is a US-terms qualification, not a guarantee about every market’s payment process. If you are trying to avoid a future charge, confirm cancellation in the subscription settings rather than relying on an empty wallet or removing a card.
In other words, the wallet and the subscription are separate things to manage. Adding funds can support a payment where the regional rules allow it, but a top-up is not a renewal switch. Likewise, removing a stored card does not cancel the subscription. Use the cancellation control to stop future recurring billing, then use the payment settings for any separate decisions about supported payment methods.
Refunds depend on your region and circumstances
Refund eligibility and calculation are governed by the rules applicable to your market. The linked PlayStation refund instructions in the United States say an eligible subscription refund may be reduced to reflect use, including online play, downloading monthly games, or using cloud storage. They also explain that a free-trial period counts toward the 14-day cancellation period in the guide’s example.
Those details are US-specific guidance, not a worldwide refund guarantee. If you want to request a refund, consult the local PlayStation refund page and the rules that apply to your account. Do not assume that canceling automatically produces a refund: cancellation controls future renewal, while a refund request is a separate matter.
When reviewing a possible refund, distinguish three questions: whether your local rules allow a request, what time window applies, and whether use of the subscription affects the amount. The US guidance gives examples of use that may affect an eligible refund, but it should not be treated as a universal calculation.
