If you mean the AI and parental-control service bundled with an HMD Fuse phone, HMD calls it HarmBlock+. To stop the paid renewal, contact HMD support and request cancellation; access continues until the end of the current billing period, and HMD’s Australian terms do not provide a prorated refund for unused time. If you only want the controls removed while preserving the child’s files, use Remove device without factory reset in the guardian HarmBlock+ app instead.
Identify which HMD service you are managing
The phrase “HMD AI companion subscription” can describe HarmBlock+, the service in HMD’s Fuse phone ecosystem. HarmBlock+ combines HarmBlock AI with parental controls. A guardian manages it from the HarmBlock+ app on the guardian’s device, while the controls apply to the linked child’s HMD Fuse phone.
There are two different actions:
- Cancel the subscription: stops the next renewal. This is the correct route when your aim is to stop billing.
- Remove the child device: disconnects parental controls from the Fuse phone. The app has a “without factory reset” option that keeps the phone’s user data. This is useful when you are handing the phone to someone else or no longer need supervision, but it is a separate workflow from asking HMD to cancel billing.
Do not treat uninstalling the guardian app or resetting the phone as a cancellation method. HMD’s documented routes are a support request for subscription cancellation and the in-app device-removal command for removing controls.

HMD’s subscription terms say, “You may cancel your subscription at any time by contacting HMD support at https://www.hmd.com/support.” The following sequence keeps the request clear and gives you a record of what you asked for.

- AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket, and Tracfone are compatible. Other carriers cannot be confirmed to be compatible. Carrier network coverage is dependent upon the carrier's service area. Please confirm compatibility with your carrier first.
- Speedy repairs. Easily replace a cracked screen and other parts at home with iFixit tools and guides – all without voiding your warranty.
- Snap 50 MP selfies with autofocus and record in sharp 4K. Elevate your shots with the 108 MP triple camera on the back.
- Up to 48 hours per charge. Charge wirelessly with any magnetized Qi2 charger, or 33W fast-charging compatible with USB Type-C cable. 5W reverse wireless charging.
- Make custom shortcuts with The Custom Button. Access your favorite game, navigate home, ask your AI tool of choice weird questions, and more. You’re the boss.
- Confirm the service name. Tell support that the charge is for HarmBlock+ associated with an HMD Fuse phone. If you have more than one Fuse device or account, identify the specific child device.
- Open HMD support. Use HMD’s support page and request cancellation of the HarmBlock+ subscription. State that you want renewal stopped, not merely the guardian app removed.
- Ask for written confirmation. Request confirmation of the effective cancellation date and the account or device covered by the request. Save the case number, email, chat transcript, or other confirmation.
- Continue using the service until the current period ends. Under HMD’s Australian subscription terms, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period rather than immediately.
- Check the next expected charge. Review the payment method on the normal renewal date. If a charge appears after the confirmed end date, reply to the existing support case with the confirmation attached instead of opening an unrelated request.
HMD’s Australian terms also say that payments for the current billing period are non-refundable and that unused portions are not partially refunded. A support agent may explain a different result if your market has different consumer rules or terms, but do not assume that cancelling mid-period creates an automatic credit.
What happens after cancellation
| Area | Expected result | What you should verify |
|---|---|---|
| Access during the paid period | HarmBlock+ remains usable through the end of the current billing period under the Australian terms. | Keep the support confirmation showing the end date. |
| Future renewal | The subscription should not renew after the effective cancellation date. | Watch the payment method on the next normal billing date. |
| Current-period payment | HMD’s Australian terms describe it as non-refundable, with no partial refund for unused time. | Ask support to explain any market-specific exception before relying on it. |
| Parental controls before expiry | Cancellation alone is not the documented command for instantly removing controls from the Fuse phone. | Use the separate device-removal procedure if controls must come off sooner. |
| Phone data | A billing cancellation request does not itself erase or reset the phone. | Do not factory-reset merely to stop a subscription. |
The service may therefore appear active for a while after you submit the request. That is consistent with an end-of-period cancellation, not evidence that the request failed.
Remove HarmBlock+ controls without wiping the HMD Fuse
If your priority is to leave the child’s photos, accounts, and other user data on the phone while removing supervision, use the guardian app’s device setting. HMD’s FAQ describes the command as “Remove device without factory reset” and says it removes parental controls while keeping user data so the child can continue using the phone.

- 50 MP camera with Selfie Gestures and Selfie slo-mo.
- HMD Fusion is quite the looker, even in its standard, see-through outfit. It’s serving you an ultra-slim body and a raw, no-frills aesthetic. Elegant and industrial. So when you don’t need any extra functionalities, you can enjoy the au naturel look.
- Product does not include a wall charging adapter. A USB-C cable is included. Product should only be charged using the included USB-C cable and a charging adapter with a charging capacity of 5-33 Watts (Lower rated wattage will result in longer charge times).
- Open the guardian HarmBlock+ app on the guardian’s device.
- Select the child account or profile linked to the HMD Fuse phone.
- Open the child’s device settings.
- Choose Remove device without factory reset.
- Read the confirmation carefully and approve the removal.
- Check the Fuse phone for the expected loss of parental-control restrictions while confirming that the user’s local data remains present.
HMD’s FAQ then directs the guardian to contact the retailer from which the Fuse phone was purchased. The retailer passes the request to HMD to stop the service. That retailer-to-HMD handoff is the escalation route for this device-removal workflow; it is not the same contact path as directly requesting a billing cancellation from HMD support.
Cancellation and device removal compared
| Question | Subscription cancellation | Remove device without factory reset |
|---|---|---|
| Primary goal | Stop future HarmBlock+ renewal. | Remove parental controls from the linked Fuse phone. |
| Where you start | HMD support. | Guardian HarmBlock+ app, in the child’s device settings. |
| Billing handling | Ends at the close of the current billing period under the Australian terms. | The app command itself is not a substitute for a billing-cancellation request; follow the retailer-to-HMD instruction. |
| Data handling | No phone reset is required. | Designed to preserve user data by explicitly avoiding a factory reset. |
| Refund expectation | Australian terms exclude prorated refunds for unused time. | Removing controls does not, by itself, establish a refund. |
| Best choice when | You want the paid service to stop renewing. | You want the phone usable without supervision and need its existing data retained. |
You can need both actions: remove the device from supervision and separately obtain confirmation that the subscription will not renew. Completing one should not be assumed to complete the other.
Australian term, price, and billing schedule
The clearest published figures are for Australia and should not be presented as worldwide pricing. For an Australian HMD Fuse purchase, HMD says the initial service term lasts 12 months from activation. If the customer continues afterward, the published price is AU$24.95 per month (HMD Global Oy, 2025).

HMD does not publish a fixed list of mandatory documents for this request, but having the following information ready reduces back-and-forth:
- The email address used for the HMD account or purchase.
- The HMD Fuse phone’s model and identifying details shown in the account or device settings.
- The purchase receipt or order confirmation.
- The latest HarmBlock+ billing confirmation, including the charge date and amount.
- The guardian’s name and the child profile or device name, if several are linked.
- Your requested action: cancel renewal, remove controls without a reset, or both.
A concise message can look like this:
Subject: Cancel HarmBlock+ subscription for HMD Fuse
Please cancel the HarmBlock+ subscription linked to my HMD Fuse phone and confirm the effective end date. My account email is [account email], the device is [device details], and the latest charge was [date and amount]. Please also tell me whether any separate device-removal step is required.
Replace the bracketed fields before sending. Keep the final message and HMD’s reply together with your receipt.

Choose the correct escalation route
For a billing cancellation
Use HMD’s support channel first. Its support center offers routes such as chat, email, phone, and order management for HMD and Nokia devices. Tell the agent explicitly that the request concerns HarmBlock+ for HMD Fuse and ask for the end-of-period cancellation date.
For removing a child device
Start with Remove device without factory reset in the guardian app. Follow the FAQ’s instruction to contact the retailer that sold the HMD Fuse; the retailer forwards the request to HMD. Include the order information so the retailer can match the device to the purchase.

When the first answer is incomplete
Reply in the same case and quote the exact action you need. For example, distinguish “stop renewal at the end of this billing period” from “remove parental controls now without deleting user data.” Attach the earlier confirmation and request escalation if the response addresses only one of those outcomes.

Troubleshoot common problems
The app still shows controls after I asked to cancel
Billing cancellation is normally effective at the end of the paid period, so controls can remain available until then. If you need them removed sooner, use the separate in-app device-removal command and follow the retailer instruction. Do not infer that an active control screen means the support cancellation request was lost.
I was charged after contacting support
Check whether the charge date fell before the confirmed cancellation end date and whether the request covered the correct account and Fuse device. If the charge was after that date, send the payment record and cancellation confirmation in the existing support thread and ask HMD to investigate the renewal.
The “Remove device without factory reset” option is missing
Verify that you are signed in as the guardian, have selected the correct child profile, and opened that profile’s device settings rather than the general account settings. If the command remains unavailable, contact the retailer that sold the phone as HMD’s FAQ directs for this workflow.
I am worried that removal will erase photos or accounts
The documented option is specifically named “without factory reset.” HMD says it removes parental controls and keeps user data. Avoid choosing any separate factory-reset command unless you intentionally want to erase the phone and have completed a backup.
A payment failed and access was suspended
HMD says a failed payment can lead to suspension or termination. If you want to keep the service, resolve the payment issue through the account or support route. If you intended to cancel, tell support that the failed payment and the cancellation request refer to the same HarmBlock+ subscription so the account status is recorded correctly.
Before you close the request
- Confirm whether you asked for billing cancellation, device removal, or both.
- Record the effective cancellation date supplied by HMD.
- Save the support case number and the retailer correspondence, if device removal was involved.
- Check that the child’s data remains on the Fuse phone after a no-reset removal.
- Review the next expected billing date and your payment statement.
- Keep the receipt, account email, device details, and billing confirmation until the final charge has been reconciled.
Key distinction to remember
Stopping HarmBlock+ billing is a support request; removing supervision from an HMD Fuse phone is an in-app command followed by the retailer-to-HMD process. The first protects you from future renewal, while the second changes the phone’s control state without a factory reset. Treat them as separate tasks and document each outcome.
