Skip and Instacart separate order-status alerts from promotional messages, and each service uses different menus for saved cards. On Skip, remove saved cards from Saved Cards and add replacements during checkout; on Instacart, add or delete methods under Payment methods. Notification controls require more care: disabling promotional messages is different from blocking the push channel that also carries delivery updates.
The menu wording can change with app, browser, operating-system, market, store, and account type. The routes below reflect the current official consumer instructions. If a label is not present, update the app or use the service’s current Help Center rather than assuming another menu performs the same function.

Use the detailed instructions below when you need to make a change, because a service-wide push switch can affect transactional messages even when your goal is only to stop advertising.
Skip: manage saved payment methods
Delete a card in the Skip app
- Sign in to the Skip app.
- Tap the profile icon.
- Open the gear beside Your Account.
- Choose Saved Cards.
- Swipe left on the card you want to remove and confirm the deletion if prompted.
This is the documented route for deleting a saved card. If a card is still displayed after the swipe, close and reopen the account screen, check that you are signed in to the intended account, and try again. Do not assume that removing a card from your phone’s wallet removes the card saved in Skip; those are separate account controls.

Delete a card on the Skip website
- Sign in on the Skip website.
- Open the menu showing your account name.
- Select View Account.
- Open Payment Options.
- Click the X beside the card you want to delete.
The website and app can show different labels, but both routes manage the cards stored in your Skip account. Removing a saved card does not cancel an order that has already been submitted.
Add or replace a Skip card
Skip’s FAQ documents adding a new card at checkout rather than through a standalone “add card” button in the account section. To replace an expired or unwanted card:
- Delete the old entry using the app or website route above.
- Start placing the order you want to pay for.
- At checkout, choose the option to add a new payment card and enter the replacement details.
- Review the last four digits and expiry before submitting the order.
If you only need to use a different card once, you can select or add the alternate method at checkout without changing every saved preference. If the account still selects the old method, remove that entry before returning to checkout.

Payment types and failed payments on Skip
Skip lists major card brands, co-branded debit cards, Skip gift cards, Apple Pay on iOS, and Google Pay on Android among accepted payment types. Availability can depend on the platform and the card, so an option appearing in one checkout may not appear in another.
When a payment fails, work through these checks before repeatedly submitting the order:
- Re-enter the card number, expiry date, security code, and billing details exactly as issued.
- Confirm the card has not expired and that the issuer has not blocked the transaction.
- Check the internet connection and retry after the connection is stable.
- Try the other Skip surface—the app if the website failed, or the website if the app failed.
- Ask the bank or card provider whether it declined the authorization or placed a security hold.
A failed authorization does not by itself prove that the saved card was deleted or that Skip charged the order. Check the order status and your bank account before trying a different method.

Skip: control notifications without losing order updates
Enable or disable promotional push messages
Skip’s account setting for network and promotional pushes is:
- Open Profile.
- Choose Account Settings.
- Open Notification Settings.
- Under Push Notifications, set Network and Promotions to Yes to receive those messages, or turn that category off to stop it.
This account preference is not the same as the operating system’s permission for the Skip app. The account setting determines which categories Skip attempts to send; the phone or tablet setting determines whether the app may deliver push notifications at all.
Turn off all Skip app push notifications
Use the phone or tablet’s notification settings to deny push permission for Skip. The exact path depends on the operating system and its current version, but it is normally the app’s entry under system Notifications or App notifications.
Skip’s privacy policy warns that disabling app push also stops order updates sent through push. That means a device-level block can suppress delivery progress and other transactional alerts even if you only wanted to stop promotions. Leave app push enabled and disable the promotional category in Skip when you still want push-based order information.
Opt out of Skip marketing messages
- For marketing email, use the unsubscribe mechanism in the message.
- For marketing SMS or MMS where applicable, reply
STOPto the marketing message. - Important account or platform changes are treated separately in Skip’s policy and may still be sent after marketing opt-out.
A marketing opt-out is narrower than blocking every notification channel. Keep the distinction in mind if you are waiting for an order and do not want to miss a change to its status.

Add or delete a method on the Instacart website
- Sign in and open the main menu.
- Go to Your account settings.
- Select Payment methods.
- To add a method, choose Add beside an available payment type and complete the requested information.
- To remove one, choose Delete beside that method and confirm.
The available payment types can be filtered by market, store, and order type. If an “Add” option is absent for a method you expect, the limitation may be intentional rather than a browser error.

Add or delete a method in the Instacart app
- Open Account.
- Choose Settings.
- Open Payment methods.
- Use the add control to enter a new method.
- To remove a card, open the payment-method controls, tap the edit or pencil control, tap the red circle beside the card, and choose Delete.
Instacart says a previously entered method cannot simply be edited in place. If the number, expiry date, billing address, or other card information is wrong, delete that entry and add it again with the corrected details.
Change the preferred payment method for Instacart+
The payment preference for an Instacart+ membership is separate from ordinary checkout methods. To change it:
- Open the Instacart+ membership area.
- Choose Change under Preferred payment method.
- Select a saved method or add a new one.
- Confirm the change.
Changing a checkout card does not necessarily change the method selected for the membership. Check both locations when you are replacing a card that pays for the subscription as well as individual orders.
Instacart payment types and restrictions
The current Instacart payment guidance lists major U.S. and Canadian credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Cash App, EBT at participating stores in select states, FSA/HSA, Google Pay, Instacart gift cards, Klarna, PayPal, the OTC Network card, and Venmo.
Eligibility is not universal. PayPal, Venmo, and Cash App have different geographic, product, and subscription restrictions, and certain methods cannot pay for hemp-based CBD or THC items. EBT, FSA/HSA, and other specialized methods may be limited to participating stores or particular products. Always check the live payment-help information for your market, store, and order type when a method is missing or rejected.
Instacart: manage order alerts and marketing
Choose notification categories in the app
- Open Account.
- Choose Settings.
- Select Notifications.
- Choose the notification types you want to receive.
Order-update alerts can include replacement and refund information. If you turn off every order-update category, you will no longer receive those status alerts through the disabled channel.

Choose notification categories on the website
- Open the main menu.
- Go to Your account settings.
- Select Notification settings.
- Adjust the available order, promotional, and marketing categories.
The website settings and app settings apply to the same account preferences, but the controls presented can differ by platform. Recheck the account after changing a preference on one surface if the other surface still appears unchanged.

Instacart separates marketing email, SMS marketing, push promotions, and order notices:
- Adjust email marketing in notification preferences.
- U.S. customers can opt in or out of SMS marketing during checkout. To stop marketing texts later, reply
STOPto the marketing text. - Use the notification settings for promotional push categories rather than disabling every order alert.
- Browser push permission can also be controlled in the browser’s site-notification settings.
Unsubscribing from marketing email does not stop order-confirmation emails. Instacart explicitly notes that confirmation messages continue even after marketing-email opt-out. This allows you to reduce advertising while retaining proof that an order was placed.

You want fewer promotions but still need delivery information
On Skip, leave device-level app push permission on and disable Network and Promotions in the account notification settings. On Instacart, turn off marketing email, SMS marketing, or promotional push categories individually, while leaving order-update notifications enabled.
You are receiving too many status alerts
Use the order-update categories in each service rather than deleting a payment method or opting out of all marketing channels. Remember that Instacart status alerts can contain replacement and refund details, and Skip’s device-level push block removes order updates delivered by push.

That behavior is expected on Skip’s documented account route: add the replacement during checkout. On Instacart, the add control is located under Payment methods; correcting an existing card requires deletion followed by a new entry.

You changed a card but membership billing still uses the old one
For Instacart+, change the method under the membership’s Preferred payment method control. General checkout payment methods and the subscription preference are distinct.
Troubleshooting notification and payment changes
A notification switch appears off, but messages continue
- Check whether the message is transactional rather than marketing. Confirmations, replacements, refunds, and important account changes can follow different rules.
- Check the device or browser permission separately from the service’s account preference.
- Look at the message type and sender. A marketing unsubscribe does not necessarily block order notices.
- Sign out and back in, then verify the preference on the same platform where you changed it.
A card cannot be deleted
- Confirm that you are signed in to the account containing the card.
- On Skip, use the app’s left swipe or the website’s X; there is no documented standalone add-card control in the account section.
- On Instacart, use the edit/pencil control before selecting the red delete circle in the app, or the Delete control on the website.
- If the card is tied to Instacart+ billing, review the membership payment preference separately.
A replacement card is rejected
- Check the number, expiry, security code, billing information, and available funds.
- Verify that the method is supported for the specific market, store, products, and subscription involved.
- Try the alternate app or website surface when the service recommends it.
- Contact the bank or card provider to determine whether it declined or blocked the authorization.
You disabled push and missed an order update
Review the device’s notification permission first. On Skip, the privacy guidance specifically warns that app push carries order updates. On Instacart, check whether order-update categories were disabled in account settings and whether browser push was blocked for website orders.
Account-security checks after changing payment settings
Skip’s account-security guidance says the first four and last four digits of a payment card can be visible in account settings and states that it does not hold or store additional payment information on its site or in the app. That statement describes the account view and should not be expanded into a guarantee about every payment processor or every form of payment data handling.

Skip also states: “SkipTheDishes will never charge your credit card or any online payment method without your consent.” If you notice activity you do not recognize, change the password immediately, contact Skip support, and contact the financial institution or card provider. Review recent orders and account email details, and remove payment methods you no longer use.
For either service, avoid sharing full card numbers or one-time verification codes in support chats or messages. Make changes only after signing in through the official app or website, and verify the final four digits before placing an order.
