Use this order whenever your stash fills: consolidate partial stacks, reserve items for active quests and planned crafting, recycle only items with no near-term use, then remove duplicate equipment and idle materials. Expand storage through the route available in your current build, but treat Expedition-linked and rotating storage differently from permanent upgrades.
This approach prevents the most expensive mistake in ARC Raiders: deleting an item that was difficult to replace simply because several incomplete stacks occupied separate slots.
A five-minute stash routine
- Group and consolidate stacks. Use the stash grouping control to combine partial stacks of ammunition, consumables and other stackable items. PC Gamer describes this as the space-saving control that can recover slots without deleting loot: PC Gamer’s inventory guide.
- Mark immediate purposes. Check active quests, workshop upgrades, recipes and the loadouts you actually intend to take on your next runs.
- Move or retain only purposeful reserves. Keep the quantities needed for those goals, rather than trying to maintain a universal collection of every material.
- Recycle cautiously. From your inventory, open the Crafting tab and use field recycling for items whose current uses you have checked. Embark’s Help Center says, “Field Recycling lets you break down items instantly.”
- Remove duplicates and idle stock. After consolidation, inspect duplicate weapons, armor and gadgets, surplus common materials, and crafted items saved without an active use.
Repeat this sequence after a quest, workshop upgrade or recipe milestone. A reserve that was sensible before a milestone may be unnecessary afterward.

How to consolidate inventory without losing useful items
Run the grouping action before any deletion
Partial stacks are the first thing to fix because they consume slots even when their combined quantity would fit in one stack. Grouping does not decide what is valuable; it only combines compatible stacks. Perform it before judging how much room you have left.

Look for the stash control that groups or consolidates items, then inspect the result. Ammunition and consumables are specifically described as benefiting from this action, but the exact items that can stack can change with game updates. If two entries remain separate, do not assume one is disposable: they may be different item types, qualities or stack rules.
Inspect the post-grouping result
- Confirm that the number of occupied slots actually fell.
- Check that ammunition and consumables still show the quantities you expected.
- Do not use the freed slots as proof that every remaining item is expendable; consolidation only solves fragmentation.
- If the stash is still full, continue to purpose-based review rather than repeatedly sorting.
What to keep: use goals, not a permanent “always keep” list
There is no authoritative, patch-proof list of materials that every Raider should retain. Needs vary with current quests, workshop state, unlocked recipes and the loadouts you plan to use. Community quantity recommendations are opinions, not official rules. The most reliable rule is to tie every reserve to a specific near-term purpose.
Active quests
Keep items required by objectives you are actively pursuing. If a quest requests a material, equipment type or crafted object, place that requirement ahead of speculative future value. Once the quest is complete, reassess the remaining reserve rather than carrying it indefinitely.

Reserve materials for an upgrade or recipe only when you have a realistic plan to complete it soon. Record the target in your own checklist if necessary, then reduce the reserve after the upgrade is finished. This prevents “just in case” stock from becoming permanent clutter.
Planned loadouts
Keep equipment for the weapons, armor and utility combinations you regularly deploy. A duplicate item can be useful if it supports a separate loadout, but duplicates with no planned role are candidates for recycling or removal. Judge equipment by the loadouts you actually use, not by an assumption that every possible build must remain ready.

Materials with no current purpose
When an item is not tied to an active quest, imminent crafting objective or intended loadout, investigate its current uses before deciding. If you cannot identify a near-term purpose, it belongs in the review queue rather than an automatic “always keep” category. The current game and its recipes can change, so revisit that decision after major updates or progression milestones.
Field recycling: the safe way to reclaim space Topside
Embark’s Help Center documents field crafting through the inventory’s Crafting tab and says that field recycling breaks items down instantly: Field crafting, ARC Raiders Help Center (last updated October 27, 2025).

Use this sequence
- Open your inventory while Topside.
- Select the Crafting tab.
- Choose the field-recycling option for the item you want to break down.
- Check the resulting materials and the item’s current uses before confirming.
- After recycling, verify that the freed slot and recovered materials serve a real purpose.
When recycling is appropriate
- You have already completed the quest or upgrade that required the item.
- The item is a duplicate of equipment you do not use in another planned loadout.
- You need immediate space Topside and the item has no known near-term use.
- The recovered materials are more useful to your current crafting plan than the original item.
When to pause instead
Do not recycle solely because an item is common or because a community guide suggests a fixed quantity. Check active objectives and recipes first. If you cannot determine an item’s purpose, leave it in the stash until you can verify it; a delayed decision costs less than discarding a difficult-to-replace component.
Four ways to obtain more storage
Storage routes differ in permanence, requirements and reset behavior. The following comparison reflects the available official and secondary descriptions; coin prices and some tier details are not established in the current sources.

Coin-funded stash upgrades
A secondary storage guide lists permanent stash upgrades purchased with coins. The available material does not provide a current price table, so do not rely on older screenshots or figures when budgeting. Open the current stash-upgrade interface and use the values shown there.

Nomadic Envoy expansion
The Nomadic Envoy can offer additional space through a rotating trade. Because the offer changes, it is not a dependable permanent solution. The same secondary guide reports that the space bought through this route is temporary across an Expedition departure. Treat it as capacity for the current cycle and check the departure screen before committing valuable items to that space.

The secondary guide reports that weapon racks, shelves, tables and cabinets provide separate storage. It also reports that crafting materials and Scrappy’s food stored there are automatically available when needed. These furniture types and capacity figures are update-sensitive, so confirm the behavior and available slots in your current Outpost rather than relying on a static count.
Expeditions: capacity gain versus reset risk
Expedition-linked storage deserves a separate decision because it can combine a capacity reward with a reset of associated inventory or progression. Embark’s official article, “Preparing for your second Expedition” (February 5, 2026), states that “Permanent bonuses that have been earned on previous expeditions will be retained by Raiders even if they choose to not depart again.” The article lists a permanent stash reward range of 12 to 24 stash spaces for continuing Expeditions.
Before you depart
- Open the current Expedition departure screen.
- Read the requirements, rewards and reset warnings shown for your build and date.
- Separate items you are willing to lose or reset from permanent bonuses you have already earned.
- Check whether temporary Nomadic Envoy storage is included in the departure consequences.
- Compare the immediate capacity gain with the cost of rebuilding quests, upgrades, equipment and materials.
Embark warns that future Expedition requirements and rewards may change. The 12-to-24 figure is therefore a documented range for the February 5, 2026 article, not a promise that every later Expedition uses the same values.
When an Expedition reset is sensible
- You have completed the progression goals that matter for the current cycle.
- The permanent reward shown on the live departure screen solves a capacity problem you expect to have repeatedly.
- You can replace the inventory and progression that will be reset without delaying your next objectives.
When to wait
- Your stash is full mainly because of unsorted partial stacks or duplicates.
- You still have active quests or workshop goals that depend on your current reserve.
- The live requirements or rewards differ from the figures you previously planned around.
How to interpret stash-capacity figures
The Arc Raiders Community Wiki reports 64 standard starting slots and a reported post-Frozen Trail maximum of 328 slots. Its page says that the maximum excludes Expedition and Nomadic Envoy bonuses and notes that older cost information became stale after the Cred currency was removed. It also says some current intermediate costs and tier details are unpublished: Community Wiki stash reference (accessed October 13, 2026).

Quest-focused player
Keep only materials and equipment connected to active objectives plus the loadout needed for the next few deployments. After completing a quest, immediately review its reserve. This style minimizes speculative stock and works well when you progress through objectives quickly.
Workshop-focused player
Choose one or two imminent upgrades, write down their required materials and retain those quantities. Do not reserve every material for every locked recipe. When an upgrade is complete, recycle or reassign leftovers before starting another target.
Flexible squad player
Maintain a small set of distinct loadouts rather than many near-identical weapons and armor pieces. Label the purpose mentally—such as close-range, long-range or utility—then remove duplicates that do not fill a different role. Keep ammunition and consumables aligned with those loadouts, and consolidate them before each review.
Expedition-planning player
Before departure, separate permanent bonuses from temporary storage and identify what the reset will affect. Avoid filling temporary capacity with items you cannot replace or items needed immediately after departure.

Troubleshooting a stash that is still full
“I sorted, but no slots opened.”
Grouping may not combine items that have different stack rules. Inspect whether the entries are genuinely identical, then review duplicate equipment and idle crafted items. Do not force a deletion merely because two icons look similar.
“I need space while Topside.”
Open inventory, use the Crafting tab and field-recycle a verified low-priority item. This is an immediate option documented by the Help Center, but check current uses first.
“I am saving everything for a future recipe.”
Replace the unlimited reserve with a named near-term goal. Keep the amount needed for the next upgrade or recipe, then review the remainder after that milestone. Future recipes and item uses can change, so an indefinite reserve is not risk-free.
“I am considering an Expedition only for storage.”
Read the current departure requirements, rewards and reset warning. The official 2026 article confirms retention of permanent bonuses already earned and lists a 12-to-24-space reward range, but it also warns that future requirements and rewards may change.
“My furniture storage behaves differently from a guide.”
Use the live Outpost interface as the final authority. Furniture types, automatic availability and capacity are secondary-source details that can change between updates.
Maintenance schedule that prevents another full stash
- After every run: consolidate stacks and remove obvious duplicates before storing new loot.
- Before crafting: verify the recipe, reserve only its required materials and recycle items with no current purpose.
- After a quest or upgrade: release the completed objective’s reserve.
- Before an Expedition departure: read the current reset and reward information and empty temporary storage that you cannot replace.
- After a major update: recheck item uses, recipes, storage routes and capacity values because community guides and older prices may be outdated.
The result is a stash organized around what you are doing next, rather than a permanent archive of everything you have ever collected.
