Gemini has two different scheduling systems. Scheduled actions are recurring prompts in a Gemini chat. Gemini Spark schedules run schedules attached to Spark tasks. They appear in different menus, have different limits, and deletion has different consequences. Identify the one you use before following the steps below.

Which Gemini scheduling feature do you use?

The phrase “scheduled task” can describe either a chat scheduled action or a schedule belonging to a Gemini Spark task. They are separate features rather than two views of the same list. Choosing the wrong menu is the most common reason people cannot find an action, pause control, or delete button.

Feature Where to manage it Mobile support What deletion affects Published limit
Scheduled actions in Gemini chat Gemini Settings & help > Scheduled actions Scheduled actions are available from the profile menu; controls can differ from the web interface The individual recurring action Up to 10 active scheduled actions
Schedules for Gemini Spark tasks Gemini web app: Spark > Schedules Conversational edits are supported in the mobile app; full Schedules-page management is web-only The selected schedule, or—if you delete the task thread—the task activity and all schedules attached to it 50 active schedules and 15 concurrently running tasks

Google documents the two systems separately: scheduled actions in Gemini Apps and schedules for tasks in Gemini Spark. Interface labels, eligibility, and limits can change, so use those pages if a control is missing. Google’s live help pages do not show a publication date; the controls and limits described here were checked on October 13, 2026.

Quick ways to tell which one you created

  • If you created a prompt in an ordinary Gemini conversation and later found it in a settings list, it is probably a scheduled action.
  • If the work appears in the Spark area with a task work panel, its schedule is a Spark schedule.
  • A Spark schedule can be listed with other schedules under Ongoing, Paused, or Completed. Chat scheduled actions do not use that Spark grouping.
  • Deleting a single chat action removes that action. Deleting a Spark task thread is broader and removes its activity and every schedule attached to that thread.

Manage scheduled actions in Gemini chat

A scheduled action is a prompt Gemini prepares to run later or repeatedly. It is not a Spark task schedule, even if the prompt sounds similar. For example, a recurring request for a morning summary made in a normal chat belongs in the Scheduled actions list, while an automated piece of work created inside Spark belongs in Spark schedules.

Find your scheduled actions

  1. In the Gemini web app, open Settings & help.
  2. Select Scheduled actions.
  3. Review the list of actions and their current on or off state.

On a phone or tablet, open Gemini’s profile menu and select Scheduled actions. The exact placement can vary by app version. If you do not see the entry, confirm that you are signed into the account that created the action; then check the account and activity requirements in the troubleshooting section below.

Edit a scheduled action

  1. Open Settings & help > Scheduled actions.
  2. Locate the action you want to change. Read its description and timing carefully if you have several similar prompts.
  3. Open More, then choose Edit.
  4. Change the prompt instructions, timing, or other available settings.
  5. Select Save and confirm that the revised wording and schedule appear in the list.

Google also allows conversational editing: ask Gemini to edit the scheduled action in the chat where it was created. State exactly what should change, such as the delivery time, recurrence, or instructions, and check the resulting schedule. Changes apply to future occurrences; they do not rewrite a result that has already been delivered.

If you have more than one similar action, edit from the Scheduled actions list rather than relying only on a natural-language request. That makes it easier to verify that you changed the intended item and did not create a second action.

Pause or resume a scheduled action

  1. Open the Scheduled actions list.
  2. Find the action.
  3. Turn its switch off to pause it, or turn the switch on to resume it.

Pausing leaves the action available for later. Gemini will not run the prompt while it is off. Turning it on resumes the existing schedule; you do not need to recreate the prompt. Check the next scheduled time after resuming so you know which future occurrence to expect.

Delete a scheduled action

  1. Open Settings & help > Scheduled actions.
  2. Find the action.
  3. Select More > Delete and confirm if Gemini asks.

Deleting removes that recurring action from the list. It is narrower than deleting a Spark task thread, which can remove several schedules and the task’s activity. If you only want a temporary break, pause the action instead of deleting it.

When results arrive

When a scheduled action produces output, Gemini marks the chat unread in the web app. On mobile, it sends a notification if notifications are enabled for the app and device. Notification settings can therefore make a completed run appear to be missing even when the action ran. Check the conversation itself and your device’s Gemini notification permissions before assuming the schedule failed.

Scheduled actions are prepared ahead of delivery. They are useful for recurring summaries, reminders, and other routine prompts, but they are not a guarantee of real-time information. Google specifically cautions that fast-changing information, such as stock prices, may no longer be current when the result is delivered.

Manage schedules attached to Gemini Spark tasks

Spark schedules belong to Gemini Spark tasks. Use these controls when your work appears under Spark rather than in the chat Scheduled actions list. A Spark schedule can be time-based or use another trigger, and its controls are managed separately from ordinary chat actions.

Find Spark schedules

  1. Open the Gemini web app.
  2. Select Spark.
  3. Open Schedules.

The page groups schedules as Ongoing, Paused, and Completed. You can also open a task’s work panel to see the schedules attached to that task. The Schedules page is currently the complete management surface on the web, so use a desktop browser when you need the full list, status groups, or direct controls.

Edit a Spark schedule

  1. Open Spark > Schedules and select the schedule.
  2. Edit its timing and instructions directly.
  3. Select Save.

For a non-time-based trigger, choose Edit with Gemini and describe the change. Be explicit about the new condition or instruction, then review the schedule details Gemini presents before saving. The mobile app supports conversational edits, but it does not provide the full web Schedules-page controls.

A schedule edit changes future runs. It does not retroactively change task activity that has already been recorded or output that has already been produced. If you need to preserve the old behavior for comparison, note the original timing and instructions before saving the new version.

Pause or resume a Spark schedule

  1. Open the schedule’s details.
  2. Choose More > Pause to stop future runs, or More > Resume to turn it back on.

A paused schedule remains listed under Paused and can be resumed without recreating it. Pausing one schedule does not automatically pause other schedules belonging to the same task unless you pause each one separately.

Delete one Spark schedule

  1. Open the schedule from Spark > Schedules.
  2. Choose More > Delete.
  3. Confirm the deletion.

This removes the selected schedule, not necessarily the entire Spark task. The task’s remaining activity and any other schedules stay in place unless you separately delete the task thread.

Delete a Spark task and all its schedules

Deleting the task thread is a broader operation. Google says it removes the task’s activity and its associated schedules. It does not delete Workspace files that the task created or modified. Use task-thread deletion only when you intend to remove the task history and every schedule connected to it.

That distinction answers a common question: deleting a Gemini task does delete its associated schedules, but it does not erase the Workspace files created or changed by that task. If you want to stop automation while retaining the task history, delete or pause the individual schedule instead.

Completed schedules

A completed Spark schedule cannot be edited or resumed. Its only available management action is deletion. A completed item is therefore not the right place to look for a pause switch or a way to change the next run. Create or edit an ongoing schedule if you need the work to run again.

Access requirements and limits

Chat scheduled-action requirements

  • Keep Activity must be on. If it is disabled, Gemini’s scheduled-action feature is unavailable.
  • Google is gradually enabling the feature for personal Google Accounts.
  • Work and school accounts need access through a qualifying Google Workspace edition.
  • The documented maximum is 10 active scheduled actions at one time.

Account rollout and Workspace eligibility are controlled by Google and can differ by account. Check the live scheduled-actions help page rather than assuming that a missing menu is a software fault. A paused action is not an active running action, but keeping many old entries can still make the list harder to audit, so delete obsolete actions when you are certain they are no longer needed.

Spark requirements and limits

  • Spark’s guide documents a maximum of 50 active schedules.
  • No more than 15 tasks can run concurrently.
  • Usage limits, high traffic, or both can delay a run or prevent it from starting.
  • Google currently describes Spark availability in places where Gemini Apps are supported, except the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. This is volatile availability information; verify your country and account on the live help page.
  • The documented guidance describes eligibility for personal accounts. Workspace availability can follow different rules.

For current Spark eligibility and controls, see Google’s Spark schedules guide. The limits are service limits, not guarantees that every account will see the feature immediately. Reaching either limit can stop a new schedule from being created or keep an existing one from running until capacity is available.

Timing, time zones, and data freshness

Scheduled-action timing

Gemini prepares scheduled-action output ahead of delivery. Information that changes quickly, such as stock prices, may no longer be current when you receive the result. Do not treat a scheduled action as a real-time market or emergency alert. For decisions that depend on the latest information, verify the result manually when it arrives.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Spark time zones

A time-based Spark schedule runs in Google’s cloud and remains tied to the time zone where it was created. If you move to another time zone and want the schedule to follow your new local time, ask Gemini to edit the schedule using the new time zone. Simply changing your device clock does not necessarily change the schedule.

When traveling, check the schedule details after editing and make sure the displayed time matches your intended local time. This is especially important for daily or weekly schedules, because a time that looks correct on your device can still represent the original creation zone in the cloud.

What Spark is not suited for

Spark monitoring is not intended for fast-moving data or time-critical actions, such as an alert that must tell you immediately when ticket sales open. High traffic can make run times approximate, and a schedule may be delayed even when it is configured correctly. Treat Spark as an automation tool for recurring or periodic work, not as a guaranteed instant notification system.

Troubleshoot a missing, paused, or late schedule

The Scheduled actions menu is missing

  • Confirm that you are in Gemini, not the Spark area.
  • Check that Keep Activity is enabled for a chat scheduled action.
  • Verify that the signed-in account is a personal account in the rollout or a qualifying Workspace account.
  • Check Google’s current eligibility guidance because availability is being expanded gradually.
  • Use the web app and the mobile profile menu, since the location of the entry differs between interfaces.

A Spark schedule is not running

  • Look under Spark > Schedules and check whether it is in Paused or Completed.
  • Review whether your account has reached the 50-active-schedule or 15-concurrent-task limit.
  • Allow for high-traffic delays and approximate run times.
  • If Spark was turned off, schedules pause. Turn Spark back on if it is available to your account.
  • If a subscription that supports Spark was cancelled or downgraded, access may be removed and schedules paused while their data is retained.

If a schedule is paused because Spark access was turned off or a supporting subscription changed, restoring access does not make the missed run happen immediately. Check the schedule’s current status and next run after access returns.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The schedule runs at the wrong local time

For Spark, ask Gemini to edit the schedule for the new time zone. The schedule remains associated with the original creation time zone until you make that change. Do not rely only on your phone or computer’s clock to diagnose the discrepancy.

A completed Spark schedule cannot be changed

This is expected behavior. Completed schedules are read-only for timing and instructions; delete the completed entry if you no longer need it. If the same type of work is needed again, create or configure an ongoing schedule rather than trying to revive the completed one.

You cannot tell whether a run happened

For a chat scheduled action, look for the unread marker in the web app or the mobile notification, remembering that device notification settings can suppress alerts. For Spark, inspect the task work panel and the schedule’s status in the Schedules page. A delayed run caused by traffic or usage limits may not appear at the expected minute.

Safe deletion checklist

  • Check whether the item is a chat scheduled action or a Spark schedule.
  • If it is a chat action, use More > Delete in the Scheduled actions list.
  • If it is a Spark schedule, delete the schedule itself unless you intentionally want to remove the whole task thread.
  • Before deleting a Spark task thread, remember that its schedules and task activity are removed together.
  • Workspace files created or modified by a deleted Spark task are not deleted according to Google’s guidance.
  • If you may need the schedule later, pause it instead of deleting it.
  • After deletion, refresh the relevant list and confirm that the intended item—not a similarly named schedule—disappeared.

For broader task-history controls, Google documents task management at Find and manage your Gemini Spark tasks.

Common questions

How do I edit a scheduled action in Gemini? Open Settings & help > Scheduled actions, select the action, choose More > Edit, change its instructions or timing, and save. You can also ask Gemini to edit it in the chat where it was created; the change applies to future occurrences.

How do I delete a scheduled action? In the Scheduled actions list, open the action’s More menu and choose Delete. This removes the individual recurring action.

How do I pause or resume a scheduled action? Turn its switch off to pause it and on to resume it. A paused action remains available and does not run while it is off.

Where do I find Gemini Spark schedules? In the Gemini web app, open Spark > Schedules. The page groups entries as Ongoing, Paused, and Completed. A task’s work panel also lists schedules attached to that task.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does deleting a Gemini task also delete its schedule? Deleting a Spark task thread removes its associated schedules and task activity. It does not delete Workspace files created or modified by the task. Deleting one schedule alone does not delete the entire task.

Can I manage Spark schedules fully on my phone? The mobile app supports conversational edits, but full Schedules-page management is currently available on the web. Use the web app for the complete list and direct pause, resume, and delete controls.

Why can’t I edit a completed Spark schedule? Completed schedules cannot be edited or resumed. They can only be deleted. Configure an ongoing schedule if you need the task to run again.

Why is my Spark schedule late? High traffic, usage limits, and the 15-task concurrency limit can delay or prevent a run. Spark times are approximate and are not intended for time-critical alerts.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What happens if I move to another time zone? A time-based Spark schedule stays tied to the time zone where it was created. Ask Gemini to edit it for the new time zone; changing your device clock alone may not change the schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a Gemini scheduled action and a Gemini Spark schedule?

A scheduled action is a recurring prompt managed in Gemini Settings & help > Scheduled actions. A Spark schedule belongs to a task and is managed under Spark > Schedules. They have separate controls, eligibility rules, and limits.

Can I pause a schedule without deleting it?

Yes. Turn off a chat scheduled action, or choose More > Pause for a Spark schedule. Both remain available to resume later.

What does deleting a Spark task remove?

It removes the task’s activity and all schedules associated with that task. Google says Workspace files created or modified by the task are not deleted.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why is a Spark schedule running at the wrong time?

Spark time-based schedules remain tied to the time zone where they were created. Ask Gemini to edit the schedule using your new time zone.

How many schedules can I have?

Google documents up to 10 active chat scheduled actions and 50 active Spark schedules. Spark also limits concurrent task runs to 15.

Are Gemini schedules real-time alerts?

No. Chat actions are prepared ahead of delivery, and Spark runs can be delayed by traffic or limits. Neither is suited to fast-moving or time-critical information.

The Bottom Line

First identify the feature: use Settings & help > Scheduled actions for recurring Gemini chat prompts, and Spark > Schedules for Spark task schedules. Edit or pause when you may need the item again; delete only the individual schedule unless you deliberately want to remove an entire Spark task thread, its activity, and its associated schedules. Check Google’s current eligibility, regional availability, limits, and interface guidance because these details can change.
