Short answer: Crunchyroll’s current PlayStation help documentation does not show a PS5-specific switch for turning notifications on or off, and it does not document a console menu for resetting or fine-tuning recommendations. Recommendations are tied to viewing history and profiles, so the practical controls are account-level: use separate profiles for different viewers and manage watch history from Crunchyroll’s website. Crunchyroll’s Android instructions for push alerts apply to the mobile app, not automatically to PS5.
What Crunchyroll officially documents on PS5
Crunchyroll’s PlayStation app guide describes the app’s supported account and playback features, including profile management, audio and subtitle preferences, mature-content access through account settings, watch and search history controls, and privacy settings. It does not publish a PS5 menu sequence for every feature, however, and it does not list a notification toggle or a recommendation-management panel for the console app.

Why the recommendations look the way they do
Crunchyroll describes recommendations as tailored to a profile and related to what that profile has watched. A shared profile therefore combines everyone’s viewing signals. If one person watches a particular genre, age rating, or series, those actions become part of the same profile’s history and can influence what another household member sees later.
Crunchyroll’s profile documentation summarizes the purpose this way: “Each profile lets you track which shows you’ve watched, get tailored recommendations, set parental controls, and pick up where you left off.” The important point is that a profile is more than a display name. It keeps a separate viewing context, which is the most direct documented way to stop multiple viewers from blending their recommendations.
Recommendations should not be treated as a manually curated queue with a documented list of individual titles to exclude. The official material reviewed does not establish a granular dislike button, a PS5-only recommendation slider, or a one-click reset. Instead, the supported levers are choosing the correct profile and editing the history associated with that profile.

Viewing history is therefore the first thing to check when the home screen seems wrong. A title watched briefly, an accidental autoplay, or another person’s marathon can all become part of the profile’s activity. The documentation does not quantify how quickly recommendations react, how many episodes are required to change them, or whether every home-screen row uses exactly the same signal. Use separate profiles to keep recommendations distinct

Creating a profile also does not create a separate subscription, account login, or independent billing relationship. It is a viewing space within the account. Because Premium eligibility is part of Crunchyroll’s stated profile guidance, a free or changed account should be checked in the current account UI rather than assuming that the same profile limit still applies.
Clear or edit viewing history from the Crunchyroll website
Crunchyroll’s documented history controls are web instructions, not a confirmed PS5 procedure. Use them when you need to remove individual episodes or clear the entire history associated with the signed-in profile.
- Open Crunchyroll’s website and sign in to the account.
- Open the avatar menu.
- Choose History.
- To remove selected activity, delete individual episodes from the history list.
- To remove everything shown in that history, choose Clear History and complete the confirmation prompt if one appears.
Deleting one episode is the narrower option when only a few accidental plays are contaminating recommendations. Clearing the full history is broader and removes the record for that profile, so use it only when you accept losing the complete watch-history reference. Crunchyroll’s documented instructions do not state that clearing history instantly rebuilds the PS5 home page, nor do they provide a separate recommendation-reset command. Choose the correct profile before editing
History belongs to the profile you are viewing. Before deleting anything, verify that the avatar or profile name is the one whose recommendations need correction. Individual deletion versus clearing everything
Use individual deletion when the problem is narrow: for example, one accidental episode, a trailer, or a show watched by a guest. This preserves the rest of the profile’s record. Use Clear History only when the whole profile needs a fresh start. Notifications: what is and is not established for PS5

- Look for a clearly labeled notification or alert control. Do not infer that a playback, privacy, or subtitle option controls notifications.
- If no notification control is present, treat that as an undocumented or unavailable console option rather than trying an Android or website path on the PS5.
- Check whether the app is up to date. If your menus differ from Crunchyroll’s current help material, record the app version and account context before contacting Support.
This approach avoids changing unrelated preferences while still allowing for a newer interface that has not yet been reflected in the help article. Notification behavior can also differ between an in-app alert, an email, and a device-level message, so identify which type you are seeing before asking Support for a setting.

These options solve different problems. Profiles prevent new viewing signals from being mixed; history management corrects signals that are already recorded. A practical workflow for a mixed household
1. Identify the source of the unwanted change
Decide whether the problem is a notification you do not want, a recommendation mix caused by another viewer, or old activity that should no longer count. These are different issues. 2. Separate viewers before deleting data

4. Reopen the console app and verify the active profile

5. Escalate discrepancies with useful details
If the app shows a control that the help article does not mention, or if a documented account change does not appear to take effect, contact Crunchyroll Support. Recommendations remain unchanged
First confirm that the history was edited on the intended profile and that the PS5 app is using that same profile. Then allow for the possibility that the displayed rows have not refreshed yet.
