Manage an X subscription on the platform where you bought it. X Premium bought on the web is managed in the Premium area on x.com; Premium bought through an iPhone or Android app is handled through the relevant app store. A creator Subscription bought on the web is managed from that creator’s profile, while an app purchase is managed through the store. To prevent the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the stated renewal time.
The most common mistake is looking for a cancellation button in the wrong place. X can show that you have access, but Apple, Google or X’s web checkout may hold the actual billing agreement. Start by identifying the purchase platform, then change the payment method or turn off renewal there.
Find where the subscription was purchased
The purchase platform controls the payment method, billing record, renewal switch and cancellation. Signing out of X, uninstalling the app or changing a card in a different platform’s settings will not reliably change the subscription.
| Subscription | Where it was purchased | Where billing and renewal are managed |
|---|---|---|
| X Premium | x.com | Premium in X settings on the web |
| X Premium | iPhone or iPad app | The Apple purchase account and its subscription controls; contact Apple for store billing, cancellation or refund issues |
| X Premium | Android app | The Google Play purchase account and its subscription controls; contact Google for store billing, cancellation or refund issues |
| Creator Subscription | Web | The creator’s profile, then Subscriptions and Manage Subscription |
| Creator Subscription | iOS or Android app | The store account used for the purchase, or the relevant store’s support |
If you are unsure, search the original receipt. A web receipt normally comes from X, while an in-app receipt is associated with the Apple or Google account that paid. Check the date, currency, amount and product name, since one account can have both Premium and a creator Subscription. X’s Premium FAQ states that you can manage a subscription from Settings on the platform where you subscribed (X Premium FAQ).
#1 Best Overall
Do not assume the device you are currently using identifies the billing platform. For example, you can use Premium in a desktop browser even when it was purchased through an iPhone. Likewise, opening X on an iPhone does not turn a web purchase into an Apple subscription. The receipt and the account that processed the transaction are the reliable clues.
Manage an X Premium subscription
Web purchase: open Premium settings
- Sign in to the X account that owns Premium on x.com.
- Open the profile menu or the side navigation, depending on the current layout.
- Select Premium. X’s help instructions use the profile menu in the app and the side navigation on x.com.
- On the current tier card, select Manage.
- Review the plan, renewal information and available payment controls before saving a change.
Labels can change as X updates its interface. If Premium is missing, confirm that you are signed into the account that made the purchase and that you are using the same platform. The current navigation is documented in X’s Premium how-to.
Take note of the renewal date and the plan name before editing anything. A monthly and annual plan can have different next-charge dates, and the amount shown on the management card is more useful than a general price list. If you have changed tiers, use the transaction details displayed for your account rather than estimating from the standard starting prices.

Use the Manage control in the Premium area to replace the saved card or edit the billing information X presents there. Enter the billing address exactly as your card issuer has it; a mismatch can cause a renewal to fail. Save the change and look for an on-screen confirmation. A payment-method change does not itself cancel Premium or alter the next renewal date.
Changing the card is different from disputing an earlier charge. The new method applies to future billing according to the terms shown by X; it does not automatically reverse a completed transaction. If the card is expired, blocked or subject to a daily limit, update it before the renewal window rather than waiting for a failed attempt.
Apple or Google purchase
For an app-store purchase, use the subscription controls for the Apple or Google account that paid. X directs subscribers to Apple or Google for app-related cancellation and refund issues, and the exact menu names can vary by operating-system version. If the store does not show the subscription, check every account signed into the device and compare the receipt with the X account you are using.
When contacting a store, include the store receipt, transaction date and the account identifier used for the purchase. X’s instructions do not establish one permanent set of Apple or Google screen labels, so follow the current official instructions shown by the store. A missing subscription can mean that you are viewing the wrong Apple ID or Google account, not that the subscription has already been canceled.

Stop the next X Premium renewal
- Open Premium management on the original purchase platform.
- Choose the cancellation option and follow the confirmation prompts.
- Complete the process at least 24 hours before the auto-renewal period. X specifically gives this lead time to avoid another charge.
- Keep the confirmation screen or email until the paid period ends.
Do not stop after tapping a first cancellation link if the platform presents a retention offer or a second confirmation screen. The cancellation is not complete until the platform shows a canceled status or supplies confirmation. Recheck the subscription list and next renewal date afterward.
Cancellation prevents the next period from billing; it normally does not refund money already paid. Premium features generally remain available until the end of the current billing cycle, then expire. X’s terms include exceptions where the law requires a refund and certain treatment for some Premium tier upgrades, so the transaction terms shown for your account control in those cases.
The 24-hour instruction is a cutoff, not a guarantee that a charge can be reversed after the renewal process has started. Cancel as soon as you decide to stop, especially when a renewal falls near a time-zone boundary or when a store’s processing time is unclear.
Manage a creator Subscription
Creator Subscriptions are separate from X Premium. They provide access to a particular creator’s subscriber benefits, and the billing platform—not the creator’s profile alone—determines where payment information is changed. X says these subscriptions renew monthly on or around the same date each month.
You can therefore have Premium canceled while a creator Subscription continues, or vice versa. Check each product separately when reviewing recurring charges. The creator’s profile identifies the benefit, but the original checkout platform identifies the payer, payment method and renewal control.
Change payment information
Use the platform that processed the purchase. For a web purchase, open the creator’s profile, select Subscriptions, then Manage Subscription. For an iOS or Android purchase, update the payment method in the relevant store account. X describes this rule in About Subscriptions: billing and payment information are managed through whatever platform was used to buy the Subscription.
Changing a card does not change the creator, benefit level or monthly renewal date. Confirm that the updated billing address and card details match the issuer’s records. If the subscription was purchased through a store, a payment method changed only on x.com will not necessarily be used for the next store charge.
Cancel a web creator Subscription
- Open the creator’s X profile while signed into the subscribing account.
- Select Subscriptions.
- Select Manage Subscription.
- Choose the cancellation control and confirm it.
- Finish at least 24 hours before the next renewal.
The subscription’s bonus content normally remains available through the paid billing cycle. Cancellation stops the following period’s billing and generally does not refund an amount already paid, except where required by law. Save the confirmation so you can show when the cancellation was completed if a later charge appears.
Cancel an iOS or Android creator Subscription
Cancel it through the Apple or Google account that made the purchase. Removing X from the phone, turning off notifications or deactivating the X account does not generally cancel an app-purchased creator Subscription. If the store’s record and X’s account appear inconsistent, use the store receipt when contacting support.
Deactivating an account is especially risky when the goal is to stop a store renewal. X says an app-purchased Subscription remains active after deactivation, so cancel it in the store first and verify the canceled status there.
When a creator-payment attempt fails
X says a payment provider may retry a failed initial or renewal transaction up to three times. Before the next attempt, check:
- Card number, expiration date, security code and billing address.
- Whether the card has a daily spending limit or the issuer has blocked the transaction.
- Whether the payment account has sufficient funds or available credit.
- Whether a VPN or proxy is interfering with location or risk checks; temporarily disable it and try again.
- Whether auto-renew was already disabled, in which case a new charge will not be attempted.
If the issuer continues to decline the payment, ask the issuer why the merchant transaction is blocked before repeatedly submitting the same details. Repeated attempts can create confusion about which transaction succeeded, so retain the store or X receipt for each completed payment.

| Action | Billing result | Access result |
|---|---|---|
| Cancel X Premium | Next renewal is stopped when cancellation is completed at least 24 hours before renewal | Premium generally continues until the end of the paid cycle |
| Cancel a creator Subscription | Next monthly period is not billed | Creator bonus content generally ends when the current billing cycle ends |
| Request a refund after cancellation | Cancellation alone is not generally a refund | Any exception depends on applicable law or the product’s specific terms |
| Uninstall the X app | Does not cancel an app-store subscription | Access and billing follow the original store subscription until it is canceled there |
Cancellation is a forward-looking billing instruction. It normally prevents another period from starting, but it does not erase the period already paid for. Keep access through the paid cycle unless X or the store displays a different result. Refund eligibility is handled under the applicable product, store and legal terms; an ordinary cancellation request should not be described as an automatic refund request.
Account deactivation and subscriptions
Deactivation is not a universal billing switch. X says subscriptions bought through an app store remain active after the X account is deactivated; cancel them through the original Apple or Google account. X’s account-deactivation guidance says subscriptions purchased on x.com automatically cancel after deactivation. That distinction means you should cancel an app purchase before deactivating if avoiding future store charges is the goal (How to deactivate your account).

If you are deactivating because of an unfamiliar charge, preserve receipts and cancel first. Once access to the X account is unavailable, the store account may still be able to display and cancel the recurring payment. Deactivation also does not establish that a charge was unauthorized or entitle you to a refund.
Check current X Premium prices before changing plans
X’s published web starting prices, shown on its Help Center page accessed October 13, 2026, are listed below. They are not universal renewal quotes: X says prices vary by location and applicable tax, and the price shown on the web or in the iOS or Android app is the one that applies to that purchase.

| Tier | Web starting price, monthly | Web starting price, annual |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | $3 per month | $32 per year |
| Premium | $8 per month | $84 per year |
| Premium+ | $40 per month | $395 per year |
Use the amount shown in your Premium management screen or store receipt when checking a renewal. A plan change, local tax, currency conversion or app-store pricing can make the amount different from these web starting prices. The published figures and pricing qualifications are in the X Premium FAQ.
An annual plan should not be treated as twelve guaranteed monthly charges. The annual total is billed according to the plan selected, while the monthly figure is a separate starting price. Before upgrading or switching, read the amount, billing period and next renewal date displayed at checkout or in Manage.
If you see an unfamiliar charge
- Check Apple, Google and X receipts for the date and amount, including accounts you rarely use.
- Cancel the subscription on the platform that processed the charge.
- Change the X password if you suspect someone accessed the account.
- Enable additional security settings, such as stronger sign-in protection, on the X account and the payment account.
- Contact the store or X support with the receipt and transaction details if the charge remains unrecognized.
Do not assume deactivating X will reverse a store charge. The original purchase platform still controls an app subscription. If the charge is unauthorized, secure both the X account and the payment account, then give support the exact transaction information rather than only a screenshot of the X profile.

Premium is not shown
- Verify the account handle and email address on the receipt.
- Open Premium on the same platform where the purchase occurred; a web purchase will not necessarily appear in an app-store subscription list.
- Sign out and back in, then check the tier card for Manage.
- Check whether you are viewing Premium or a separate creator Subscription; they have different management paths.
A cancellation confirmation never appears
- Repeat the process on the original platform and complete the final confirmation step.
- Check the platform’s subscription list and the next renewal date rather than relying on an app uninstall.
- Save a screenshot or confirmation email showing the canceled status.
- If the renewal is less than 24 hours away, contact the original platform promptly; cancellation timing can determine whether the next charge is processed.
The wrong amount is displayed
Compare the charge with the receipt’s currency, tax and billing period. X’s web starting prices are location-dependent, and an app-store transaction can use different pricing. If the store processed the payment, raise the dispute with that store; X directs subscribers there for app-related refund and cancellation matters.
You need X billing support
X identifies @Subscriptions as a support contact for subscription issues and warns that an automated support chatbot may provide inaccurate information. The Premium Support Billing form requires an X account. The form currently displays a browser-compatibility warning; because that message can depend on the session or browser, try a current supported browser rather than treating it as a permanent account restriction.
Best Value
Have the X handle, purchase platform, receipt, charge date, currency and amount ready. For an Apple or Google purchase, start with the store for cancellation or refund questions, since X specifically directs app-related billing issues there. For a web purchase, use X’s Premium or creator Subscription controls first, then provide the resulting confirmation to support if the account still shows an active renewal.
Quick decision checklist
- Paid on x.com for Premium: open Premium in X settings and use Manage.
- Paid in an iPhone or Android app: use the Apple or Google subscription account that paid.
- Paid for a creator on the web: open the creator’s profile, then Subscriptions and Manage Subscription.
- Trying to avoid a charge: complete cancellation at least 24 hours before renewal and retain confirmation.
- Deactivating the account: cancel app-store subscriptions separately; do not rely on deactivation.
- Checking a payment failure: verify card details, billing address, limits, issuer restrictions, funds and VPN or proxy interference.
- Seeking a refund: remember that cancellation normally stops future billing but does not refund the paid period.
