To make a Samsung Galaxy look more personal, start with a wallpaper that suits the screen, coordinate the system colors, then refine the home and lock screens. Galaxy Themes and Good Lock offer deeper changes on supported devices, while a compatible case can change the phone’s exterior.
Menu names and available features vary by Galaxy model, software version, and country. The steps below follow Samsung support guidance; check the settings on your own device if a label differs.
1. Pick a wallpaper that works with the screen
Choose a personal photo, graphic, or video background. A simple image with open space around the clock and app icons usually makes the screen easier to read than a busy one. Preview it with notifications and the clock visible, and reposition or crop it if important details sit beneath text.
To use a photo or video from your gallery, open Settings > Wallpaper and style, choose the wallpaper option, and select media from Gallery. Exact labels can vary; Samsung’s wallpaper instructions describe applying Gallery media to the home or lock screen. Some eligible devices also offer AI-generated wallpaper or weather effects, but those features are not available on every Galaxy.

Use rotating lock-screen images
If you prefer variety, Samsung’s Dynamic Lock Screen lets you download image packs and rotate their images when the display wakes. Samsung says Fresh packs update automatically every two weeks. 2. Coordinate the interface colors
A wallpaper color palette can tie the interface together without changing every icon. On supported Galaxy software, open Wallpaper and style > Color palette, enable the palette, and choose a scheme. Samsung Australia’s customization instructions show this route; menu wording and availability differ by device and market.

Use a palette that keeps text and icons legible. If the selected colors reduce contrast, choose another palette or turn the feature off rather than sacrificing readability for a matching look.
3. Make the home screen useful, not crowded
Widgets add information and visual structure, but a few well-chosen ones are usually easier to scan than a screen packed with panels. Consider a calendar, weather, notes, or music controls—whatever you actually check.

- Touch and hold an empty area of the home screen.
- Tap Widgets, choose an app, and select a widget style.
- Add it to the screen, then drag it into place. If the widget supports resizing, touch and hold it and adjust its handles.

4. Customize the lock screen
The lock-screen editor can change the wallpaper, clock style, shortcuts, and available widgets. On supported models, touch and hold the lock screen, unlock if prompted, and use the editor to make changes. Samsung’s lock-screen guidance describes these controls; exact steps may differ across software versions.

Keep the information visible at a glance limited to what you need. If you do not want message contents visible while the phone is locked, adjust notification display settings rather than showing sensitive details by default.

5. Apply a Galaxy Theme selectively
Galaxy Themes can change more than the wallpaper: depending on the theme, it may include icons, fonts, sounds, Samsung-app visuals, or layout elements. The scope is theme-specific, so read its description and preview how the lock screen and app icons look together before applying it. Samsung’s Galaxy Themes guide explains the feature for Australian products; settings and availability vary by location.
If a theme makes labels or icons harder to read, switch to another theme or revert the affected parts. A coordinated look is only an improvement if the phone remains comfortable to use.
6. Add Good Lock controls only if you need them
For more lock-screen or Always-On Display widget customization, Samsung UK describes using Good Lock with its LockStar module to add third-party widgets. This is an optional, more advanced route; Good Lock and module features depend on device, software, and regional availability. Check Samsung’s current widget guidance and the options available on your device before relying on a particular feature.
7. Change the phone’s exterior with a compatible case
A case is the most direct way to change how the phone looks in your hand. Samsung lists colorful silicone cases, clear cases that show the phone’s original color, and customizable Flipsuit cases for particular models. Samsung says the Galaxy S25 Flipsuit case can match the lock-screen look to an inserted card; that feature is specific to the supported case and phone. Before buying, confirm the exact Galaxy model and case variant, then check local availability. A case made for a different model may not fit, even when the phones look similar. Consider protection and grip as well as color when choosing one.
