On a Samsung Galaxy S21, change text size at Settings > Display > Font size and style. If you want buttons, menus, and other interface elements to grow along with the words, use Settings > Display > Screen zoom instead. The two controls solve different readability problems.
Choose between font size and screen zoom

Make text larger with the font-size slider
- Open Settings.
- Tap Display, then Font size and style.
- Move the font-size slider until the text is comfortable to read. The same screen lets you choose a font style.
Samsung’s Galaxy display-settings instructions cover these display controls. Samsung notes that available screens and settings can vary by wireless service provider, software version, and device model.
Enlarge text and other interface elements with Screen zoom
- Open Settings.
- Tap Display, then Screen zoom.
- Adjust the slider to increase or decrease the overall scale.
Try Screen zoom if enlarging the font alone leaves menus, buttons, or other elements too small. If you cannot find either setting, search for Font size and style or Screen zoom in Settings; labels and available options can differ across software versions, models, and carriers.

When a particular app or webpage stays small
The phone-wide font setting does not control every app. Samsung says some apps may not respond to the device’s font-size setting; in some apps, choosing the largest system size may still show a smaller size than expected. Check the app’s own display, accessibility, or text-size settings when only that app remains difficult to read.

Webpages can have a separate text-size control as well. Samsung Japan’s instructions for changing device text size distinguish system text sizing from webpage text sizing in the browser. That page was updated September 3, 2026; its steps and labels may be specific to the regional software or browser configuration.
Use Magnification to enlarge a portion of the screen
If you only need to inspect part of the display at a time, Magnification is an optional accessibility approach. A Galaxy S21 discussion on Samsung Community suggests looking under Settings > Accessibility > Vision enhancements > Magnification, selecting a shortcut, and using it to magnify part or all of the screen. This route comes from community guidance, not an S21-specific Samsung support instruction; menu wording and options may vary.

Quick troubleshooting
- Only words need to be bigger: Adjust Font size and style.
- Words and controls need to be bigger: Adjust Screen zoom.
- One app ignores the change: Look for an in-app text or display control; some apps limit or do not follow system sizing.
- You need a closer look at one area: Check whether Magnification is available under Accessibility.
- The listed path is missing: Search the Settings app for the setting name, since Samsung says menus can vary by device, software, and provider.
